Anthropic launches Cowork, a Claude Code-like for general computing

Anthropic Launches Cowork, A Simpler Way to Use Its AI Tool for General Computing

Anthropic, the company behind the popular AI tool Claude Code, is expanding its reach with a new feature called Cowork. Unlike its predecessor, which required more technical know-how, Cowork allows users to give Claude access to a specific folder on their computer and provide plain language instructions for tasks.

For example, users can tell Claude to fill out an expense report by providing photos of receipts or write reports based on digital notes. This makes it easier for knowledge workers, from developers to marketers, to get started with the tool without needing extensive technical expertise.

Cowork is built on top of Claude Code and is currently available as a research preview to Max subscribers. While Anthropic highlights its benefits, such as the ability to make new requests or amendments to tasks before they're complete, it also warns about potential risks like prompt injection attacks.

The launch comes as Anthropic expands its AI efforts beyond coding, with a new announcement of Claude for Healthcare competing with OpenAI's similar product for ChatGPT.

🤔 I think this is gonna be super useful for non-coders! The idea that users can just upload a folder and give Claude some simple instructions to get it done seems like a game changer. I'm already imagining all the busy professionals who'll save so much time with this tool 🕒💻. And yeah, I can see how prompt injection attacks are a thing to watch out for, but Anthropic is being pretty transparent about that too. It's good to see companies making AI more accessible to everyone, not just the tech-savvy crowd 👍

omg can u believe how much easier Cowork is to use lol i mean who needs to know coding basics 2 use ai tools 😂 now ppl from diff industries can join the AI party and make tasks easier with just a few clicks 🎉 it's like anthropic is saying 'hey we gotchu' and making tech more accessible for everyone 🤝

I'm kinda glad Anthropic is trying to make their tech more accessible, you feel? I mean, we're not exactly rocket scientists anymore, right? 😊 The idea of giving Claude access to a specific folder and providing simple instructions sounds like a game-changer for those who don't have coding backgrounds. It's all about making AI work for everyone, not just the tech whizzes. I'm curious to see how this Cowork thing plays out, especially with the potential risks mentioned. Let's hope they can mitigate those issues and make it even easier for people to use their tool without getting overwhelmed. 🤔

omg I'm so down for this new feature Cowork 🤩! as someone who uses Claude Code all the time, it's been super frustrating to deal with the technical stuff. now we can just point Claude at a folder and let him do his magic ✨. I think this is gonna make AI more accessible to people outside of dev and marketing roles, which is a big win in my book 🙌. plus, it's always cool to see Anthropic pushing the boundaries of what's possible with AI. gotta keep an eye on how this whole prompt injection attacks thing plays out tho... fingers crossed they can iron those out 😬

I'm so down on this whole Cowork thing... I mean, who needs more simplicity in their lives? It sounds like they're making it too easy for people to just wing it and mess up the AI, you know? I feel like we need more complexity and nuance when working with AI, not less. And what's with all these "plain language instructions" business? Can't people just learn some actual programming skills already? This Cowork feature is just gonna make everyone reliant on the AI and unable to think for themselves... 🤖🙄
