A security guard hired to protect residents at a northwest Houston apartment complex is facing allegations that he broke into an apartment and assaulted one of the people he was supposed to protect. Jordan Dickerson, who works for a private security firm, has been charged with burglary with intent to commit a felony.
According to neighbors, the incident began as a casual game of Uno between residents, but it quickly turned into chaos when Dickerson allegedly forced his way into an apartment at the complex. Katricia Charles, one of the neighbors, said that Dickerson suddenly appeared in her living room while she was out in the hallway, arguing with another neighbor.
"I opened the door and he said something, I said something back, and he deployed the Taser and told me to get on the ground," Charles's boyfriend Larenzo Smith recalled. "I looked at him like, for real? But I complied. I put my hands behind my back."
Smith claimed that Dickerson handcuffed him, escorted him downstairs, and then pushed him face-down onto the parking lot. He suffered scratches to his face and shoulder.
Despite the allegations, another security guard working at the complex defended Dickerson's actions, saying that he likely made the right call by intervening in the situation. However, investigators have reviewed body-worn camera footage, which appears to contradict Dickerson's account of what happened.
The incident has left many in the community outraged, with Charles expressing shock and concern about her safety. "Who wants someone to come into your home, in the privacy of your home, and get arrested and handled the way he did?" she said.
The security company has yet to respond to ABC13's requests for comment on the allegations against Dickerson. The incident is still under investigation, and it remains unclear what will happen next in the case.
