Apple Maps in iOS 26 keeps track of your favorite places

Apple has added a new feature to its Maps app in iOS 26, allowing users to keep track of their favorite places. This new feature is called Visited Places and it's designed to help users remember and revisit locations they've been to before.

When you launch Apple Maps after updating to iOS 26, you'll be prompted to enable Visited Places. If you choose to do so, the app will store your location data in an encrypted database, allowing you to access a list of places you've visited in the future.

The list is organized by date, category, and city, making it easy to find specific locations. Users can also share their favorite places with others using a couple of taps.

To set up Visited Places, users need to enable the feature in the iOS Settings app under Location Services. They'll also be asked how long they want their iPhone to store visited place data - options include 3 months, 1 year, or forever.

When you access your Visited Places list, you can use the search function to find specific locations or tap on "All Visits" to see everything. Each location in the list comes with three dots that allow users to share the place, remove it from the list, correct its location, or add a note about their experience.

While the feature is still in beta, it has the potential to revolutionize how we use GPS and mapping apps on our devices.

πŸ“ I'm loving this new feature in Apple Maps! It's so cool that you can now easily keep track of all the awesome places you've visited. The fact that it's encrypted makes me feel way more comfortable sharing my fave spots with friends πŸ‘«. And, 3 months is a decent default setting - I mean, I don't want to be stuck seeing old photos from last year πŸ˜‚. But, for some reason, I think they should've made it an option to delete the data altogether if you're like me and always on-the-go πŸš—. Still, this feature has so much potential!

πŸ€” just thought this new feature by apple is gonna make traveling way more fun! think of all the places you wanna revisit or share with friends fam πŸ“ can already imagine using it to help plan trips with my squad πŸ—ΊοΈ also, 3 months vs forever - i'm lowkey tempted to go for forever lol 🀣

omg I'm soooo hyped for this new Visited Places feature 🀩! I mean like who doesn't love finding their fave coffee shop or bookstore again? 😊 It's gonna make navigating cities way more efficient for me and my friends πŸ‘«. And I love that we can share our faves with others too, it's so social! 🀝 The fact that it's encrypted is also a nice touch, safety first πŸ’―. I'm def gonna enable it ASAP and start exploring new places. 3 months sounds like a good starting point for me πŸ•°οΈ. Can't wait to see what other features come with iOS 26! πŸš€

I'm so down for this new feature πŸ€©πŸ“! Having a way to keep track of all my fave spots, like that cute coffee shop I always meet friends at or my favorite hiking trail, is gonna make navigating even easier. Plus, being able to share those places with others is a nice touch - imagine being able to show your fam where you went on vacay πŸ“Έ. Only thing is, I hope it doesn't get too crowded and the list gets hard to scan πŸ˜‚. But overall, this feels like a win for iOS 26!

Just got my hands on iOS 26 and I gotta say, Visited Places is gonna be a total game changer for me! 🀩 I mean, who hasn't been to that one spot they love but can never remember where it was? πŸ˜‚ This feature is like having your own personal itinerary, right in the palm of your hand. And sharing with friends or family will make it even easier to plan trips together. But what's cool is how you can customize how long Apple stores your location data - 3 months or forever? That's some serious consideration right there! πŸ€”

I'm so stoked about Apple's new Visited Places feature 🀩! As someone who's always been curious about where I've been, this is a game-changer for me. Being able to easily revisit favorite spots or plan trips back to places that hold special memories is gonna make my life so much easier. And it's not just about personal use – think about all the ways this feature could help out friends and family who might be planning visits or road trips together πŸš—πŸ’•. The fact that it's encrypted and stored securely makes me feel good about sharing my favorite places with others too πŸ‘. Can't wait to try it out and see how I can use it to explore new places and revisit old faves 😊!

I'm surprised they didn't make Visited Places available by default, considering how much people love taking selfies at landmarks πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. But I guess that's just Apple being cautious with new features. The 3-month or forever storage option is a good compromise – it'll give users enough time to figure out if this feature is really useful for them.

Also, isn't it interesting that they're using an encrypted database to store location data? I'm pretty sure our iPhones have been doing that for years now πŸ€”. But hey, better safe than sorry, right?

One thing I don't get is the need to share favorite places with others. Can't we just keep those things to ourselves for once 😊? Oh wait, I forgot – this is Apple we're talking about. They'd never do that.

I don’t usually comment but... I think this new Visited Places feature is gonna be super useful! πŸ€” Imagine being able to recall that amazing coffee shop you found last year or the park where you had a great picnic with friends just by looking at your iPhone's map - it's like having a personal memory book built into your device. And sharing those places with others sounds like a great idea too, I can already think of all my mates who love trying out new spots and would totally appreciate being able to share their faves. The fact that you can also adjust how long the data gets stored is nice touch too, don't wanna be stuck in the past πŸ˜‚. Overall, this feature feels like a game changer for Apple Maps! πŸ‘

I'm so stoked about this new feature! 🀩 I've always been a bit forgetful when it comes to remembering where I went or what I did last week...this is like having my own personal scrapbook in the palm of my hand πŸ˜‚ and it's so easy to use! The fact that you can share your fave places with others just takes it to the next level 🀝. And the options for storing location data are really convenient, especially the "forever" option - no need to worry about forgetting where I parked my car or something πŸ™Œ. It's just so cool to see Apple innovating and making life easier for us users πŸ’»!

I'm so down for this new Visited Places feature in Apple Maps! 🀩 It's like having your own personal scrapbook of all the cool places you've been to 😎. I mean, who doesn't love looking back at memories from a specific coffee shop or park where they had an amazing experience? πŸ’‘ This feature is going to make it so much easier for us to reminisce and share our faves with others. And yay for having more control over how long we want to keep our location data private - 3 months, 1 year, or forever sounds like a great range to me πŸ•°οΈ. Can't wait to start using it! πŸ’»
