Astronauts leave ISS before splashing down on Earth in medical evacuation – video

Astronauts Abandon Space Station for Medical Evacuation

In a dramatic turn of events, three astronauts were forced to abandon their home in orbit around the Earth and head for a planned emergency landing in the Pacific Ocean. The crew members of the International Space Station (ISS) were evacuated after experiencing medical complications during their six-month mission.

According to NASA officials, the astronauts, whose identities have been withheld due to privacy concerns, began showing symptoms consistent with COVID-19 just days before their scheduled return to Earth. Following strict quarantine protocols on the ISS, the crew members' condition rapidly deteriorated, prompting an immediate decision to terminate the spaceflight and prioritize their health.

With only a short window of time left for safe re-entry into Earth's atmosphere, the astronauts and NASA engineers devised an emergency plan that would allow them to safely descend from orbit. A specially modified spacecraft was deployed from the ISS to carry the crew away from the station and towards a planned splashdown site in the Pacific Ocean.

The US Navy has been notified of the impending emergency, with a ship standing by to provide medical assistance upon the astronauts' arrival. This carefully choreographed operation is being closely monitored by NASA officials and medical experts back on Earth.

As the spacecraft hurtles towards its expected landing point, concerns remain over the long-term effects of space travel on the crew's health. "The safety of our astronauts is always our top priority," a NASA spokesperson stated. "While it was disappointing to have to end the mission prematurely, we are committed to ensuring their well-being and providing them with the medical attention they require."

🚀😷 [A astronaut in space gets sick on the toilet 🚽😓] NASA is like " Emergency landing incoming... and also a COVID test" 🤢🔬 [NASA's face when you tell 'em you're not feeling well ] 👀

🚀💊 this is so crazy, what's going on in space can be super unpredictable, i feel bad for those astronauts who got sick up there 🤒. it's like, we thought we were safe from covid but nope, even in space 🌎. i wonder how they're gonna recover from the stress of being in space and then suddenly having to land back on earth 🌊. nasa is being super responsible as always, it's good to know they prioritized the astronauts' health over saving the mission 👏.

OMG 😱, I know some ppl might be worried about the astronauts' health but let's not jump to conclusions 🤔. It's not like they're gonna be super sick or anything 💊. They've been in space for 6 months, it's only natural that they'd get a little off 🚀. And think about it, if they were still on the ISS they might have spread COVID-19 to each other and made things worse 😷. At least now they're getting medical attention ASAP 💉. Let's just hope the US Navy can help them out when they land 🌊. I mean, we've got some of the best medics in the world working on this case 🤝.

OMG, can't believe what's happening to those astronauts 🚀😱! They've been up in space for 6 months already and now this? 🤕 I'm so worried about them 😭. I mean, COVID-19 in space? That's just crazy! 💉 The fact that they had to abandon ship is insane 😲. I can imagine how scary it must be for them right now 😨.

And poor NASA 🙏... they're always pushing the boundaries of what's possible, but sometimes you gotta prioritize safety 🚫. I'm glad they have a plan in place and everything 👍. But seriously, how are these astronauts going to recover from this? Will it affect their health forever? 🤔 So many questions 🤷‍♀️.

I just hope they get the medical attention they need ASAP 💊 and that everything goes smoothly when they land 🚨. I'm sending all my positive vibes to those astronauts 🌟🚀! They're heroes in every sense of the word 💕!

ugh I'm literally dying over here 🤯🚀 just imagine being stuck in space for 6 months without seeing your loved ones or even feeling a decent shower 😩🚽 and then to find out you're coming down with COVID-19 🤢😷 like, what's the point of even having a quarantine protocol if it's not gonna work?!? 🤷‍♀️ NASA needs to get their act together ASAP 💪🏼💻

ugh I just heard about this and its so sad that those astronauts had to leave the iss 🤕 I remember when COVID-19 first started and how scary it was back then...it's wild that it happened again on a space mission. six months in space must have been super hard on their bodies anyway 🚀💉 I hope they're okay now and get the medical help they need ASAP 💊

🚀😬 This whole thing sounds super stressful for those astronauts! I mean, who expects to get sick in space? 🤢 And then you gotta deal with a 6-month mission being cut short... that's gotta be tough. But at least NASA is on top of it and has a solid plan in place to get them back safely 💡. The fact that they had to quarantine the crew anyway just shows how serious this COVID-19 situation is out there 🤝. I'm curious about what kind of medical issues were affecting them - was it something specific or a general case? 🤔

🚨 bad news alert 🚨 just when u thought space travel was safe... 3 astronauts abandon iss due to covid complications on their way back to earth 🤕 nasa's emergency plan kicks in, but what about long-term health effects? 🤔 those astronauts are gonna be stuck with a lifetime of mystery illnesses from being in space 😬 and now the us navy is having to wait around for them to splashdown in the pacific 🌊 only because of covid, meanwhile the rest of us just gotta deal with our own stuff back on earth 😒

🚀💉 omg can u believe this?! 3 astronauts on iss just got abandoned 🤯 cuz of covid symptoms lol nasa is all like "safety first" 😬 but what about the rest of us on earth? shouldn't we be prioritized too? 🤔 i'm lowkey worried about the long-term effects tho... space travel can't be good for u 🚫💔

omg can you even imagine having to be in space for 6 months straight 🚀?! i feel like my exams are already long enough, i dont know how those astronauts would cope with not seeing their families & friends for so long 😩. and on top of that, they had to deal with covid complications - talk about a double whammy 💉. i'm just glad nasa is prioritizing their health though 🙏. i wonder what kinda meds they'll need after being in space tho? maybe something to help with the whole weightlessness thing 👽. anyway, i hope they're all okay & get the medical care they need ASAP 💕.

🚀 Just had to share this crazy news - three astronauts were forced to abandon space station life after coming down with COVID-19 in orbit! Can you imagine having to quarantine in space? 🤢 Anyway, NASA's got their crew safely on their way back to Earth and a ship waiting to provide medical help. Pretty impressive that they could come up with an emergency plan so quickly. But seriously, how do people deal with space sickness after being in zero gravity for months? And what are the long-term effects of COVID-19 on astronauts? 🤔 NASA's gotta keep their crew healthy and safe! 💚

🚀💉 This development is quite the sobering reminder of the risks associated with space travel 🌎. The COVID-19 complications on board raise interesting questions about the immunogenicity of vaccines administered in microgravity environments ⚖️. Not to mention, the physical and psychological strain of prolonged spaceflight can take a significant toll on astronauts' health, as seen in this recent incident 🤕. It highlights the need for continued research into mitigating these risks and developing more effective countermeasures 📊. The US Navy's swift response is also noteworthy, demonstrating the importance of coordinated emergency planning and international cooperation 🚫. Overall, it serves as a poignant reminder of the complexities involved in sending humans to space 🚀.

omg can u even believe this just happened?! 🤯 like these astronauts were literally living in space for 6 months and then out of nowhere they're showing covid symptoms 😷 and now they have to abandon ship! 🚀 i feel so bad for them, but at the same time i'm also kinda impressed by nasa's emergency response skills 🙌 it's not every day you get to see a space station evacuation unfold like a real-life mission impossible movie 🎥 what are the chances of something like this happening?! 😱 anyway, hope these astronauts are doing alright after their splashdown and can't wait for updates on their recovery! 🤞

omg u guys!!! i'm literally shaking thinking about those astronauts 🚀😱 they were just like, in space for 6 months straight and then BAM! covid hits 🤢 it's so harsh 😔 but like, i get it tho nasa had to prioritize their health over the mission 💯 i don't think we can even begin to imagine how scary that must've been for them 👀 they're gonna be ok tho and it's all thanks to the amazing team at nasa 🙏 the pacific ocean is so calm right now 🌊 but like, those astronauts are literally flying by the seat of their pants right now 😬 can't wait to see them safe on land again 🛸

just had this news on my feed 🚀😬 its super concerning that 3 astronauts got evacuated from iss due to covid... like, isnt space travel supposed to be pretty safe? 🤔 also how did it even get to this point where quarantine didnt prevent the spread of covid in space? 🤷‍♀️ nasa should really rethink their protocols on this one 👀

I cant believe this is happening 🤯... I mean, I've seen some crazy things in my time on earth, but astronauts getting Covid-19? That's just wild 😂. And now they're having to abandon ship? I feel bad for them, I really do 🤕. Back in the day, we used to think it was all about exploring new frontiers and pushing human limits, not worrying about getting sick from a virus 💉. I guess times have changed 📆. Can't wait to see how they're gonna bounce back from this... if you know what I mean 😊.

🚀💉 Omg I'm so worried about these astronauts! 6 months in space is already crazy enough but then you gotta deal with COVID-19? That's like a double whammy. I hope they get the best medical care possible when they land. 🙏💊 The thought of them being in that tiny spacecraft for hours just before landing is giving me anxiety 😬. But at least it's better than taking the risk of waiting on Earth and risking their health even further. 👍 Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly and they make a safe splashdown! 🌊😅
