Bears or Rams? Has Ben Johnson Gone Too Far in Ripping Packers?

It's time for another Bears postseason edition of "Polling Place." Let us hear from you! Selected comments will appear in Sunday's paper.

The Chicago Sun-Times recently sought the opinions of its readers on whether the Bears have gone too far in ripping their rival team, the Packers. The issue at hand was coach Ben Johnson's profanity-laced disparagement of the Packers, a move that has sparked debate among fans and pundits alike.

While some Bears fans are confident that their team will emerge victorious against the Rams this Sunday, others are more cautious. "They've been a team of destiny all season," one fan commented. "Why stop now?" Another supporter chimed in, saying that the Bears won't need any points to secure a win and instead will take it straight up.

However, not everyone is convinced that the home crowd or weather conditions will be the deciding factors for the game. Some fans believe that something "crazy might happen in the cold," while others point out the seeming inconsistency of the Bears' training practices given the weather forecast for Sunday's game.

Regarding coach Ben Johnson's comments, opinions are divided. While some fans think he has crossed a line with his language, others argue that payback is a necessary part of sports rivalry. "Let's stay classy, Chicago!" one fan said in an attempt to maintain a sense of decorum among the Bears' supporters.

As for this Sunday's game against the Rams, it remains to be seen which team will emerge victorious. One thing is certain: the outcome will determine whether Ben Johnson has gone too far in ripping his rival teams. Only time and the final result will tell if he has indeed crossed a line or simply said what many fans are thinking but didn't dare to say out loud.

Poll results show that the Bears are currently 3½-point underdogs against the Rams, with some predicting a close match and others expecting an easy win for either team. Ultimately, one thing is clear: it's going to be a wild ride this Sunday at Soldier Field.

I'm so stoked for this game lol 🤩! I think the Bears are gonna take it, but not because of Ben Johnson's comments... idk, maybe he's just hyped and that energy will rub off on the team 😂. But seriously, the Rams look super tough right now. What if the cold weather messes with their offense? 🤔 Would be a total upset if it happens! Coach Johnson might have gone too far, but I think he's trying to get under the Rams' skin and make them doubt themselves. It's all part of the rivalry, right? 🏈💪

.. I think people are losing sight of what really matters here 🤔. It's not just about Ben Johnson saying some bad words or the Bears being underdogs against the Rams... it's about how we respond as fans. Do we take the high road or do we feed into the negativity? 🙅‍♂️ I mean, think about it, if Ben Johnson said something like that to a friend, would we really care? Probably not 😕. But because he's a coach and says it in front of a crowd, suddenly it becomes a big deal? 🤷‍♂️ It just highlights how much sports can bring out in us. We need to take a step back and remember that at the end of the day, it's all just a game... and maybe that's what makes it so fascinating 😎

omg this ben johnson dude needs to chill lol what's wrong with saying some stuff that's gonna ruffle some feathers?? its sports after all! the bears are still 3.5 point underdogs tho, gotta keep it real on sunday 🤦‍♂️

omg i think ben johnson was just speaking his mind lol he's already said some pretty fiery stuff about the packers so idk if anyone can say he's gone too far? maybe he's just hyping up the bears for the game?! 😂 the rams are gonna come at them hard tho and it'll be a real battle 💪 either way, i'm excited to watch it and see how everything plays out 🎥

man I feel like ben johnson is just trying to hype up his team but maybe went a bit too far 🤔🏈 the bears fans are hyped though and rightfully so they've been on fire all season and it's gonna be an intense game against the rams ⚡️ i mean if ben says something, most people think he's just keeping it real 💬 but yeah maybe he crossed a line with that profanity 🤷‍♂️ either way tho, sunday is gonna be lit 🔥

🤔 I think Ben Johnson's comments might've been a bit of a shot across the bow for the Packers, but not necessarily "too far" as some fans are saying. The guy's clearly passionate about his team, and when you're dealing with intense rivalries like this one, things can get heated quickly. As for the Bears' chances against the Rams, I'm not sure how much of a factor the weather is going to be - they've been playing in tough conditions all season and still managed to come out on top.

🏈 Personally, I think it's more about the Bears' team performance than anything Ben Johnson says. If they can execute their game plan and play smart, they might just be able to pull off an upset. But at the same time, if they start getting flustered or making mistakes under pressure, it could all fall apart quickly.

🤷‍♂️ One thing's for sure, though: this one's going to be a wild ride! ⚡
