Breeze Airways Flies into Atlantic City International Airport
In a move that promises to shake up air travel in South Jersey, Low-cost carrier Breeze Airways will launch year-round service from Atlantic City International Airport this May. The airline's decision marks the third time an airline has committed to flying out of the small airport.
Perched on the Jersey Shore, Atlantic City International is set to become a hub for travelers seeking easy access to two burgeoning destinations: Charleston, South Carolina, and Raleigh-Durham International Airport in North Carolina. Breeze will offer nonstop flights twice a week to Charleston starting May 6, while its Raleigh-Durham service debuts June 11.
In addition, the airline will introduce its popular BreezeThru service - which features one stop but no changeover - on flights to Tampa, Florida, also commencing in June. With this expansion, travelers from southern New Jersey and Philadelphia will have a more convenient gateway to these popular cities.
"It's especially meaningful that we're expanding service in a way that directly benefits our passengers," said Stephen F. Dougherty, executive director of the South Jersey Transportation Authority. "The new routes give us access to two growing destinations that will undoubtedly benefit travelers from our region."
Breeze Airways joins Spirit Airlines and Allegiant Air as the only carriers serving Atlantic City International Airport. While Spirit still offers daily departures, including several Florida routes, Allegiant recently launched nonstop flights to Fort Lauderdale.
Travelers can also use American Airlines' bus service connecting them directly to Philadelphia International Airport, with the option to bypass TSA checkpoints in New Jersey and proceed straight to their Philly terminal.
With this latest addition, Breeze Airways has solidified its position as a major player in US air travel. Founded just two years ago, the airline now operates flights to 80 airports worldwide, including several international destinations like Cancun and Nassau.
"We see Atlantic City not only as a fantastic destination for travelers but also as a gateway to many other metro areas," said Breeze Airways founder and CEO David Neeleman in a statement. "We're excited to bring more convenient air travel options to the region."
