Brewers reunite with 3-year veteran after very short Rays stint

Milwaukee Brewers Reunite with Veteran Pitcher After Troubled Past

In a move that's become all too familiar, the Milwaukee Brewers have signed right-hander Peter Strzelecki to a minor-league contract, just as spring training is getting underway. The 31-year-old pitcher, who made his MLB debut for the Brewers in 2022, has bounced around five organizations over the last three seasons, including stints with the Tampa Bay Rays and Cleveland Guardians.

While Strzelecki's time with the Rays was brief, he did show flashes of promise during his two-year tenure with the Brewers. He relies on a five-pitch mix, which includes a particularly effective changeup and sweeper, that helped him rack up 86 strikeouts in 83 2/3 innings over 77 career appearances.

Last season, however, was a setback for Strzelecki, as he failed to record a major league appearance and struggled in the minors with a 9.41 ERA in 22 Triple-A innings. Despite those struggles, the Brewers remain confident in his abilities and are giving him another chance to prove himself at the MLB level.

The question now is whether Strzelecki can harness his strengths – particularly his changeup and sweeper – to make an impact on the team's bullpen. With a new spring training under his belt, he'll have to demonstrate that he has what it takes to be a reliable contributor for the Brewers once again.

man I feel bad for the guy 🤕 gotta give him another chance though, we all stumble sometimes right? Strzelecki's got some serious stuff on his changeup and sweeper, if he can just get back on track and focus on one thing at a time i think he could be a beast in the bullpen 💪. spring training is like the ultimate reset button, maybe this will be the season where things click for him 🌞

I don’t usually comment but I feel like this guy is getting another chance and I just wanna say that’s not always easy to do... especially when you've had some rough times in the past. Like, 9.41 ERA in the minors is pretty bad... it's a huge drop off from what he was doing with the Brewers two years ago. But, at the same time, I think it's great that the Brewers are giving him another shot and trying to help him get back on track. I just hope they have someone to mentor him or something, 'cause having that kind of talent is wasted if you're not being used properly 🤔

Heard they're giving Peter Strzelecki another shot 🤔💪. I mean, you can't keep a good guy down right? He had some solid moments with the Brews back in 2022 and now he's getting a fresh start ⏰🔄. Hopefully he can tap into that same magic again 🔮 and show everyone what he's got 💥. The changeup is a great asset, let's see if he can make it count 🎯. Brewers fans are all about second chances, so I'm rooting for him 👍💫!

omg i'm so hyped 4 peter strzelecki 🤩!! i've been followin him since 2022 and i know he's got it in him! like, who else can say they have an awesome changeup like that? 💥 he was so underrated last season, but i knew he'd bounce back. the brewers r makin a smart move by signin him again 🙌 gotta see what kinda magic he'll conjur up on the mound this time around 🔮 fingers crossed he becomes a key contributor to our team! 😆

so glad they're giving Peter Strzelecki another shot 🤞! i mean, he did show some promising stuff with the brewers back in 2022 and now they're putting faith in him again... gotta love that kind of team spirit 😊. but at the same time, it's like déjà vu all over again, you know? he had a rough season last year and still gets another chance 🤔. i'm curious to see if he can actually put it all together now 💪. hopefully, he'll finally find that elusive rhythm and make some meaningful contributions to the team 🌟. spring training is coming up, let's hope he's ready! ⏰

omg u gotta think about how this signing went down its like they saw something in him when hes been having major struggles lol like 9.41 era in triple a is NOT something u wanna see on ur report card 🤦‍♂️ but at same time the brewers did good for him giving him another chance i dont know man i just hope he finds that middle ground between his changeup and sweeper where hes not gonna get lit up every other night 🤞
