British public's verdict is in: Die Hard is not a Christmas movie

A recent survey conducted by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) has revealed that the majority of respondents believe Die Hard to be a non-Christmas film. With 44% of voters dismissing its festive credentials, only 38% defended its Christmas status, while 5% even named it as their favorite holiday movie. The survey's findings have been welcomed by none other than Macaulay Culkin, who sparked outrage when he recently stated that Die Hard is not a Christmas film during an event celebrating the 35th anniversary of Home Alone.

The survey also shed light on what makes the perfect Christmas film, with heartwarming stories leading the way for 33% of respondents. Family friendliness and humor followed closely behind, making up 15% and 13% of voters' choices respectively. A mere 2% of participants cited a tear-jerker as their ideal Christmas movie.

Interestingly, the survey found that just under a fifth (18%) of respondents considered going to the cinema over the holiday period a tradition for themselves and their families. Of those who did so, 33% preferred to visit the cinema before Christmas Eve, while 20% opted for Boxing Day.

It's worth noting that this debate has been raging on for years, with even those involved in the making of Die Hard having differing opinions about its Christmas status. Director John McTiernan has stated that he did not intend for the film to be a Christmas movie but expressed joy at it being perceived as one by fans.

As for Culkin's comments, he was met with boos when sharing his opinion on Die Hard being a non-Christmas film. In response, he argued that setting the film in Saint Patrick's Day instead would yield the same movie. It remains to be seen whether the debate over Die Hard's Christmas credentials will continue to rage on or if it will finally come to an end.

ugh come on people πŸ˜’ die hard is defo a christmas film its like, you know when you're stuck in a building on fire with your wife and you gotta take down terrorists... thats festive vibes 4 life πŸ’₯ plus its set in december so yeah πŸŽ„ macaulay culkin can just deal with the fact that his home alone buddy is getting more love than him this holiday season πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

I'm not surprised by this survey results πŸ˜‚πŸŽ₯ thinkin about it, die hard is more about new year's eve celebrations in nyc where john mcclane gets caught up in a terrorist takeover πŸ•°οΈ, but yeah, who am i to decide what makes a christmas film πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ? maybe the movie just lets us all escape reality for a bit and that's kinda what christmas movies are about πŸŽ„ for me, it's about feel good vibes and spendin time with loved ones ❀️ don't get me wrong, die hard has its moments, but at the end of the day, is it really about a guy rescuin his wife on christmas eve or just bein a cool action hero in a winter wonderland β„οΈπŸ‘Š

I'm so down for a Die Hard vs Christmas film debate! I mean, who doesn't love watching Bruce Willis kick butt in the snow? But, like, if we're gonna get real, some of those iconic moments - the exploding Santa, anyone? - are straight fire holiday vibes. Still, I can see why some people might not be feelin' it as a Christmas movie, but to me, it's all about the feels, fam! πŸŽ…πŸ»πŸ’₯ And can we talk about how low-key hilarious Macaulay Culkin is for trying to reboot Die Hard with a Saint Patrick's Day twist? πŸ˜‚ That's some next-level trolling right there.

I mean I'm all for having a good debate about Christmas movies, but what's up with people still going back and forth on Die Hard being a Christmas film? Like, 44% of people saying no way it's not, and then Macaulay Culkin comes along and is like "nope, it's Saint Patrick's Day". I'm kinda surprised more people didn't just agree to let him set the movie in Ireland or something. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ But for real though, who needs that much drama around a Christmas movie? Can't we all just get along and enjoy a good Die Hard marathon with some hot cocoa? πŸ«πŸ‘

πŸŽ₯πŸ‘€ I'm still weirded out by the whole Die Hard vs Christmas thing πŸ€”. I mean, who doesn't love yippee ki yay-ing through a snowy NYC? It's become such a part of holiday pop culture πŸŽ„πŸ“Ί. I think it's great that Macaulay Culkin stuck to his guns, even if it did get him some boos πŸ˜‚. I'd say the survey makes sense though - who wouldn't want to watch a feel-good story about family and love during the holidays? ❀️ It'll be interesting to see how long this debate rages on, but for now, I'm just gonna keep on watching Bruce Willis save the day every year πŸŽ¬πŸ˜„.

OMG, can you believe this survey?! I mean, 44% of people think Die Hard isn't a Christmas movie? Like, what even is that?! πŸ˜‚ But for real, Macaulay Culkin's comments were kinda funny - setting the film on Saint Patrick's Day instead would be EPIC! πŸ€πŸŽ₯ And it's crazy to see how much people love or hate the idea of Die Hard being a Christmas movie. For me, it's all about the feels and the nostalgia - if you watch it around Christmas, it's a holiday classic! ❀️ Go cinema on Boxing Day though, that's my tradition πŸ’ƒπŸΏ

omg die hard is def a christmas movie πŸŽ… I mean who cares what macaulay culkin says? its got guns, explosions, and a dude in a santa suit trying to stop terrorists - that's basically the spirit of christmas right there! πŸ˜‚ and let's be real, who needs heartwarming stories when you can have Bruce Willis running around the nyc skyline with a crowbar 🀯 family friendliness is so overrated. I say we make die hard the new standard for christmas movies and just add some festive tunes to the soundtrack 🎡

I'm so down for a Christmas movie marathons at the cinema πŸΏπŸŽ„, it's like 18% of people who feel that way and I'm totally with them! Going to the movies before Christmas Eve is defo my vibe too πŸ•°οΈ. And can we talk about how heartwarming stories are like, the perfect Christmas film? πŸ€— I mean, who doesn't love a good cry-fest during the holidays? πŸ˜‚ But for real though, it's crazy how much people love debating whether Die Hard is a Christmas movie or not πŸ’₯. Macaulay Culkin's suggestion to set it in Saint Patrick's Day instead is like... umm, I don't know about that πŸ˜…. Anyway, I'm just here for the Christmas movies and festive vibes πŸŽ‰!

I'm still laughing about Macaulay Culkin trying to spin Die Hard as a non-Christmas film 🀣, like that would fly! And can you believe he thinks setting the movie in Saint Patrick's Day would make it not Christmas anymore? That's some next-level creative thinking πŸ˜‚. On a more serious note, I think what's interesting is how this survey highlights the importance of heartwarming stories in our favorite holiday films πŸŽ„. It's all about that feel-good factor during the festive season! 🌟

I don’t usually comment but I got a good laugh out of Macaulay Culkin’s idea of setting Die Hard in Saint Patrick’s Day πŸ€£πŸ€ - can you imagine Bruce Willis in a green shirt wielding that gun? πŸ˜‚ The debate about whether or not it's a Christmas film has been going on for ages and it's still kinda fun to watch. For me, as long as the action and explosions are there, I don’t really care if it’s holiday-themed or not πŸŽ₯πŸ’₯

I got mixed feelings about this whole Die Hard vs Christmas thing πŸ€”. I mean, I grew up loving that film and always associated it with Christmas, but now it seems like a lot of people are reevaluating what makes a good holiday movie πŸŽ„. I think the survey's findings make sense – who doesn't love a good heartwarming story or some laughs around the holidays? But at the same time, Die Hard is more than just an action film - it's got a great storyline and memorable characters that people of all ages enjoy 😊. I'm curious to see where this debate goes from here... will we finally settle on what makes a Christmas movie? 🎬

I gotta say, this Die Hard thing is kinda like the whole Brexit mess - people can't agree on what makes a Christmas film, just like how Brits couldn't agree on leaving EU 🀯. It's all about personal opinions and traditions, you know? Like, if Macaulay Culkin thinks it's not a Christmas film, that's cool, but 44% of the public is gonna disagree with him πŸ˜‚. And honestly, who cares if Die Hard isn't technically a Christmas movie? If people want to watch it during the holidays and have a good time, that's all that matters, right? It's like how some folks in the US are all about Thanksgiving turkey and others are more about Halloween spirit πŸ¦ƒπŸŽƒ. At the end of the day, it's all just a matter of what makes people happy, especially during the holidays when we're all looking for some festive cheer ❀️.

πŸ€”πŸŽ₯ Die Hard being a Christmas movie is like my mind trying to organize notes into a diagram... some things stick together, others don't πŸ˜…. I mean, who doesn't love Bruce Willis saving the day on Christmas Eve? 🎁 But at the same time, it's not exactly like a feel-good family film like Elf or Love Actually 🀣. The survey says heartwarming stories are key to the perfect Christmas movie, but what about all the action and suspense in Die Hard? πŸ’₯ Is that really Christmas-y? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ Maybe I'm just too visual, I'd draw a Venn diagram with "Christmas movies" and "action films"... would they overlap? 🎨 Would love to see Macaulay Culkin's thoughts on this... might need to ask him to illustrate it πŸ˜„
