Brooklyn man sentenced to life for killing acquaintance, stashing body in the fridge

Life Sentence for Brooklyn Man Who Stashed Murdered Acquaintance in Fridge for Years

A Brooklyn man has been sentenced to life behind bars without the possibility of parole after being found guilty of murdering his acquaintance and secretly storing his dismembered body in a refrigerator. Nicholas McGee, 48, was convicted of first-degree murder and concealment of a human corpse in October, with prosecutors revealing a shocking level of brutality and cruelty during their case against him.

According to testimony presented during the trial, McGee brutally stabbed Kawsheen Gelzer, 39, over 60 times while he slept on a sofa in March 2022. The attack also involved hitting Gelzer multiple times in the head with a hammer. Following the murder, McGee dragged Gelzer's body to the bathroom where it remained for several days before he dismembered the remains using a saw and hammer.

In a horrific twist, McGee then hid the dismembered body inside plastic bags and concealed them within his refrigerator and freezer, which he sealed shut with tape and glue. This gruesome act of concealment went undetected until years later, when police uncovered Gelzer's remains during a search in January last year following a tip.

Further details emerged during the trial about McGee's motives for committing such a heinous crime. Prosecutors revealed that McGee had discovered drugs on Gelzer's person and was using them alongside his co-defendant and wife, Heather Stines, who pleaded guilty to concealment of a human corpse last year. The couple's involvement in the crime has now left many wondering about the extent of their roles and whether they will receive lenient sentences.

McGee himself gave a detailed confession to police detectives while in custody in Virginia, reportedly in exchange for a cigarette. Brooklyn DA Eric Gonzalez described the case as "a deeply disturbing act of violence" that showed "cruelty and disregard for human life," emphasizing the gravity of McGee's crimes.

The conviction has sent shockwaves through the community, with many expressing outrage and disgust at the level of brutality exhibited by McGee during the attack. As he faces life imprisonment without parole, the true extent of his depravity may never be fully known to those who knew him or were affected by his actions.

๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿคฏ this is just plain sickening ๐Ÿšฝ๐Ÿ’€ can't even imagine someone doing something so crazy and cruel ๐Ÿ˜จ, like hiding a human body in the fridge for years ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ‘ป. what kinda monster does that to another person ๐Ÿ’”? at least he's getting the punishment he deserves โš ๏ธ, life without parole is definitely fitting ๐Ÿ˜’. it's crazy how some people can be so brutal and still manage to get close to others ๐Ÿค, like with their own family members ๐Ÿ‘ซ๐Ÿ’•. anyway, glad justice was served ๐Ÿ’ฏ and I hope the community can finally start healing from this traumatic event ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ’ช

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this case, it's like something out of a horror movie ๐Ÿคฏ. The level of brutality is just shocking, stabbing someone 60 times while they're asleep? It's hard to even imagine the pain and suffering he caused Kawsheen Gelzer ๐Ÿ˜ข. And hiding her dismembered body in a fridge? It's like he thought he could just erase her from existence ๐Ÿ’€. The thought of him and his wife, Heather, using drugs together and getting involved in this crime is also really disturbing ๐Ÿค•. I think the fact that McGee confessed to the police while asking for a cigarette is especially creepy ๐Ÿ˜‚. Anyway, life imprisonment without parole seems like the right sentence to me โš–๏ธ.

OMG u guys can't even imagine how sick this guy is ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜ฑ like he killed some1 and then hides their body in a fridge ๐Ÿด๐Ÿ‘ป for years!! it's so messed up! life sentence without parole is def the right verdict imo ๐Ÿ’ฏ justice was served but I feel bad for Kawsheen Gelzer & his fam who had to go thru this traumatic experience ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ’”. how could someone be so cruel?! ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ #JusticeForKawsheen #NeverGoinHideInFRIDGEAgain ๐Ÿ‘Ž

This guy's sentence is well-deserved ๐Ÿคฏ, can't even imagine how scared Kawsheen Gelzer's family must've been knowing their loved one was secretly being held captive in a fridge for years... that's just barbaric ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. And what's even more disturbing is the fact that McGee had to go and dismember his body like that ๐Ÿคฎ, I mean, who does that? It's not just the murder itself, it's the level of planning and brutality that goes into hiding a human corpse like it was nothing... this guy's depravity knows no bounds ๐Ÿšซ. I hope he spends every minute of his life behind bars, reflecting on what he did to that poor woman ๐Ÿ˜”.

I'm not surprised about this guy's sentence ๐Ÿคฏ. 60+ stab wounds? Like what's next? He thought he could just stash the body in the fridge and forget about it? ๐Ÿฅถ The level of brutality is just insane... I mean, I get why people are outraged, but at the same time, you gotta feel kinda sorry for Kawsheen's family who had to go through all this. I guess you can't make this stuff up anymore ๐Ÿ˜”. And what's with the wife and co-defendant involved too? That just adds another layer of complexity to an already twisted story ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. Life without parole is definitely fitting, but I wonder if it'll really be enough for all those affected by his actions...

idk how i feel about this... ๐Ÿค” like, on one hand its super messed up that someone can just stash a body in their fridge and expect not to get caught, but at the same time, i dont think we should be surprised that people are capable of such horrific things... ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ the fact is, crime happens and it's always going to be a part of our world. and sometimes its just so heinous that you dont even know how to react. but then again, its not like mcphee was some kind of monster from a horror movie or anything... hes still human, with flaws and mistakes, just like the rest of us. ๐Ÿค•

oh my god I cant even right now this guy is literally insane 48 years old and you stab someone over 60 times while they sleep on a sofa like what kind of monster does that McGee's motive was just a person had some drugs on them and he freaked out but that's not an excuse for what he did the fact that he dismembered the body and hid it in his fridge is just disgusting I mean who does that to another human being? The couple involved with him and his wife are still walking free while McGee gets life without parole I hope they get what's coming to them but at the same time I dont think anything will ever bring justice to Gelzer's family ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

I mean come on... 60+ stab wounds and a hammer blow to the head? That's just brutal ๐Ÿ’€. And hiding someone in a fridge for years like that, it's insane ๐Ÿคฏ. The fact that he had an accomplice wife who helped him cover up is even more disturbing ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. A life sentence without parole seems fitting, but what about his accomplice wife getting away with this? Isn't she going to get the same or similar punishment? It just doesn't seem fair ๐Ÿ‘Ž.
