Cardi B Defeats Security Guard's Request for New Trial After Pen-Tossing Incident

Cardi B emerges victorious in civil trial against security guard Emani Ellis, who claimed the rapper scratched her face outside a Beverly Hills doctor's office three years ago.

The Los Angeles County Judge Ian Fusselman denied Ellis' request for a new trial, finding no basis to overturn the unanimous verdict that found Cardi B not liable for the alleged incident. The judge rejected Ellis' claim that two eyewitnesses should have been barred for late disclosure and dismissed the argument that jurors were "intimidated" by Cardi after she threw a pen outside the courthouse.

The security guard, Emani Ellis, had claimed that when Cardi B was leaving a doctor's office in Beverly Hills, where she was being treated for her first pregnancy with Offset, she intentionally scratched her face with an acrylic fingernail. However, the jury rejected this claim, and now Judge Fusselman has upheld their decision.

In his ruling, Judge Fusselman noted that Ellis' lawyer had tried to get a jury instruction about the incident that would have ensured jurors learned of it. However, he argued that if anything, jurors might have viewed the incident as supporting Ellis' claims rather than frightening them.

Cardi B's lawyers had previously claimed that the pen "hit no one" and that any suggestion that jurors might have been intimidated was hearsay. The judge agreed with this assessment, saying that it would have tended to help Ellis' case rather than hurt it.

The incident occurred outside a Beverly Hills doctor's office in 2018, where Cardi B was being treated for her first pregnancy with Offset. Video footage shows Cardi B throwing the pen to the ground after YouTube vlogger Donat Ricketts shouted questions at her about her rumored pregnancy. At the time, Cardi B had not announced that she was expecting.

The trial was a highly publicized case that sparked debate on social media. In his ruling, Judge Fusselman said that while he allowed the defense to add two witnesses to Ellis' proposed list, Ellis was also allowed to add names to her own list despite an initial cut-off.

Judge Fusselman also made it clear that he planned to sanction Ellis' lawyer Ron Rosen Janfaza for his conduct during the trial. The judge argued that Rosen Janfaza repeatedly claimed to jurors that Ellis had met a psychologist face-to-face, even though there was no evidence of this ever happening.

Cardi B's lawyers have previously released special "Courtroom Edition" CD covers for her sophomore album, showcasing her viral moments and hairstyles from the trial. This latest victory marks another win in one of Cardi B's several high-profile cases.

πŸ™Œ omg can u believe it? cardi b is finally free from all that drama!!! i mean, who tries to say she scratched some security guard on purpose tho? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ anyway, the judge was like "nah" to the security guard's claim and upheld the unanimous verdict. i'm just here for cardi's team winning and cardi being able to move forward with her life πŸ’–. and btw, those courtroom edition cd covers were EVERYTHING πŸ˜‚πŸŽΆ

πŸ™„ so I'm not surprised that Cardi B won this case lol. Like, who wouldn't want to sue a security guard for claiming you scratched them when you didn't? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ the fact that the security guard even claimed that in the first place is just crazy. and what's with all the drama about the pen? it was literally just thrown on the ground... πŸ™„

I do feel bad for the security guard, though. I mean, you're already dealing with a stressful job as a security guard, and then you get sued for something that probably didn't even happen. πŸ’” but at the same time, if you're going to sue someone, you gotta have some solid evidence, right? πŸ€”

and honestly, I'm just glad this is over. Cardi B's lawyers are always so extra with their social media posts and stuff... πŸ™„ it's like, can't you just let the court handle it for once? πŸ˜‚

omg can you believe the nerve of that security guard emani ellis πŸ™„ she was trying to get a new trial after Cardi B won the case 3 years ago, but judge fusselman is like "nope not buying it" 🚫 this whole thing was just about her trying to get attention and cash in on the situation πŸ€‘ cardi b's lawyers were totally right when they said that jurors might have viewed those late-disclosed eyewitnesses as supporting ellis' claims rather than scaring them πŸ˜’ it's crazy how some people can try to fabricate stories like that πŸ’β€β™€οΈ anyway, cardi b's still slaying and this win is just another notch in her belt πŸ’ͺ

πŸ™„ Can you even believe the drama that went down in that Beverly Hills courtroom? Like, Emani Ellis thought she was gonna get paid by Cardi B after she claimed she got scratched outside a doc's office πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ. But nope, the jury saw right through her and now Judge Fusselman has upheld their decision πŸ’―.

I mean, what's with Ellis' lawyer trying to get jurors intimidated? πŸ™ƒ Like, you try to throw some shade in the courtroom and see how far it gets you πŸ˜‚. And don't even get me started on Cardi B's "Courtroom Edition" CD covers... because what says 'winning case' like a merch drop with a courthouse backdrop πŸ€‘.

But for real, this trial was just another example of celebrities having to deal with entitled folks who think the law doesn't apply to them πŸ™„. At least Cardi B came out on top and showed the world she's not afraid to throw shade (or a pen) when needed πŸ’β€β™€οΈ.

omg yaaas finally justice for cardi b!!! i mean, it's just so unfair that emani ellis kept lying about what happened outside that doctor's office 3 years ago 🀯 cardi b was already pregnant with offset and she had no reason to scratch anyone's face lol. judge fusselman made the right call btw, ellis' lawyer was being super shady too, trying to get jurors intimidated by cardi b's presence πŸ™…β€β™€οΈ i'm so glad cardi b won this case, it's just another example of her strength and resilience πŸ’β€β™€οΈ

🀣 can u believe cardi b won this case? like, i mean i feel bad 4 Emani Ellis but the jury spoke loud & clear! 2x she said she was attacked by Cardi & not 1 single witness came forward 2 contradict her πŸ™…β€β™€οΈ cardi's team must've been on top of it. and lol @ judge Fusselman sanctioning Ellis' lawyer Ron Rosen Janfaza for lying 2 the jury what a boss πŸ’β€β™€οΈ

Can't believe Ellis thought she had a shot at taking down Cardi B like that πŸ™„πŸ‘€. She must've been outta her mind thinkin' them two witnesses shoulda been barred for late disclosure... guess the judge saw right through that πŸ˜‚. And let's be real, if anything, those jurors were probably just tryna figure out what was goin' on with Cardi's pregnancy drama 🀣. Anyways, glad to see Cardi B gettin' her life back and lookin' fabulous in court too πŸ’β€β™€οΈπŸ‘—!

I'm not surprised that Cardi B emerged victorious from this civil trial πŸ™Œ. The evidence presented showed that Emani Ellis' claims were largely baseless, with the security guard's testimony being contradicted by multiple eyewitnesses πŸ‘€. The fact that Judge Fusselman denied Ellis' request for a new trial is a clear indication that the jury's unanimous verdict was justified 🀝. It's also interesting to note how Cardi B's lawyers skillfully argued against Ellis' lawyer's attempts to manipulate the jurors, using the pen-throwing incident as evidence of intimidation rather than intimidation itself πŸ—‘οΈ. This case is another example of how celebrities can navigate complex legal systems and come out on top πŸ’β€β™€οΈ.

😀 oh man, can you believe that Emani Ellis thought she could take down Cardi B like this? I mean, come on, a security guard trying to sue someone for allegedly scratching her face is just ridiculous πŸ’β€β™€οΈπŸ”₯. And now Judge Fusselman is giving her lawyer a piece of his mind too 🀬. That's the kind of justice we need more of in cases like this.

And let's be real, Cardi B has been through so much already with her personal life and whatnot πŸ’Έ. This just proves that she's strong and can handle anything that comes her way πŸ’ͺ. I'm loving all the shade she threw at those doubters on social media too πŸ”₯πŸ‘€.

The whole trial was just a mess, but in a good way 🀣. It's like Cardi B was a superhero, fighting off all these haters and doubters one by one πŸ’«. And now she gets to celebrate with her fans and release some new music 🎢. Bring it on, Cardi! πŸ’•

man i cant even... remember when celebrities would get sued left and right without all this drama πŸ˜‚πŸ™„ it was like everyone had a grudge against someone, you know? nowadays its all about the media hype and social justice πŸ“°πŸ’– cardi b is just a girl from bartow fl trying to make a name for herself in the music industry, but instead she gets sued by some security guard who's just trying to get a payday πŸ’Έ meanwhile, cardi's like "ok, i'm gonna throw my pen on the ground and serve up some sass" πŸ–ŒοΈ and now shes walking away with this civil trial πŸŽ‰ it just goes to show how much more publicized things are nowadays, and sometimes that's all it takes for someone to come out on top πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

πŸ™Œ I'm so glad to see justice served! It's wild that Emani Ellis thought she could just claim that Cardi B scratched her face on purpose, when really it was just Donat Ricketts being shady πŸ€‘. But you know what's even crazier? The drama that went down during the trial - like, who throws a pen outside the courthouse and expects to be taken seriously? πŸ˜‚ It's no wonder Judge Fusselman had zero patience for Ellis' lawyer, Ron Rosen Janfaza. Sanctioning him is totally justified πŸ™Œ.

On a more serious note, I'm just happy that Cardi B can finally put this whole ordeal behind her. She's been through enough and has come out on top - that's what being a strong woman is all about πŸ’β€β™€οΈ. And let's be real, those CD covers for her album are EVERYTHING πŸ”₯. Anyway, justice prevails and I'm feeling so good about it πŸ™!

πŸ˜’ so happy for Cardi B... like, finally a verdict that doesn't make her look like a total psycho 🀣 can you even imagine if she had to pay Emani Ellis a dime? I mean, come on, the girl was totally justified throwing that pen on the ground after Donat Ricketts was being super annoying πŸ™„ and now we get to enjoy some more of Cardi B's drama for free πŸŽ‰ guess justice is blind (or in this case, just following the law) πŸ’β€β™€οΈ

omg lol what a drama queen πŸ™„ Emani Ellis really thought throwing shade at Cardi B outside a doctor's office would land her a fat paycheck? like, girl, if you're gonna play it like that, bring the receipts πŸ“ not just some weak claims about someone scratching your face. and btw, who tries to get new jury instructions in the middle of a trial? sounds like a total last-minute attempt to salvage a losing case πŸ™ƒ

Ugh πŸ™„ I'm so done with celebrity lawsuits. Like, can't they just move on already? 😩 Cardi B was literally shaking in those courtroom heels, and now she's finally outta this mess. And honestly, I feel bad for Emani Ellis - girl seemed pretty unstable from the get-go. πŸ˜’ The whole thing was kinda fishy, if you ask me. But hey, at least Cardi can focus on what really matters: her music and being a boss πŸ’β€β™€οΈπŸŽ€.

Aww poor Emani Ellis πŸ€•, it sounds like she was really hurt in that incident outside the doctor's office πŸ™. But honestly, it's kinda crazy how Cardi B's team had to fight so hard just to prove a point 🀯. I mean, two eyewitnesses getting barred for late disclosure is pretty harsh ⏰. And can you believe Ellis' lawyer kept saying she met with a psychologist in person when that never happened πŸ˜‚? It's like, no wonder the judge didn't want to overturn the verdict πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ. Anyways, Cardi B must be so relieved and grateful that this trial is finally over πŸ’–. Time to celebrate and move on from all this drama!

omg yaaas cardi b is literally getting all the wins 🀩 like she knew that guard was trying to lie on her so good! i love how the judge shut down ellis' lawyer for trying to scare the jury with that whole psychologist thing lol what a waste of time. and can we talk about how cardi b's team is serving up them courtroom edition covers tho? πŸŽ‰ they're like, total champions πŸ’β€β™€οΈ

omg can't believe that Emani Ellis went through all this drama for nothin πŸ˜‚πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ I mean who scratches someone just because they got a pen thrown at 'em? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ Cardi B threw that pen and she was the one in the spotlight, like why would anyone think it's her fault? πŸ’β€β™€οΈ Don't @ me

OH MY GOSH 🀯, CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?! CARDI B JUST EMERGED VICTORIOUS IN THAT CIVIL TRIAL AGAINST EMANI ELLISS! I MEAN, THE JUDGE'S RULING IS LIKE A BIG OL' THUMBS UP FOR Cardi B - NO WAY WOULD SHE GET AWAY WITH SKINNIN' SOMEONE WITHOUT PROOF!!! IT JUST GOES TO SHOW YOU THAT IN REAL LIFE, IT'S NOT ALL GLAM AND GLITTER, BUT GIRL CARDI B CAN HANDLE HERSELF LIKE A BOSS πŸ’β€β™€οΈπŸ‘‘
