Center City restaurant week extends to Feb. 4 after winter storm causes closures and cancellations

Center City's Restaurant Week Has Been Extended Due to Winter Storms

Due to severe weather conditions that caused widespread closures and cancellations over the weekend, Center City District has extended its restaurant week through February 4. The original schedule was set to run from January 18-31, but the organization has decided to keep the special deals going for an additional two weeks.

The event, which originally aimed to boost local businesses during the slower winter months, will now offer discounted prix fixe dinners at over 60 participating restaurants across the neighborhood. All 122 restaurants involved in the promotion have been offered the extension, and Center City District is urging residents to take advantage of the opportunity to enjoy a special meal out.

Restaurant weeks are a staple for many cities during the colder months, and Center City's event has proven successful in the past. In January 2025, the district reported a 9% increase in overall services and a 19% increase between 4-10 pm at participating businesses compared to surrounding periods.

Other neighborhoods have also announced their own restaurant weeks, including Northern Liberties, which started on Monday and will run until February 8, and East Passyunk, set for February 23-March 6. Giavana Suraci Pruiti, Director of Promotions and Activations at Center City District, expressed the importance of these events in reviving the workweek: "Center City District Restaurant Week gives us the opportunity to step out on a cold winter night... It takes the monotony out of the workweek by making any night a special occasion."

I mean, I guess it's nice that they're extending the restaurant week, but like, what's really going on here? They're essentially just padding their own pockets with more money from already-overpriced restaurants. And don't even get me started on the so-called "opportunity" to make any night a special occasion... please. It's just an excuse for overhyped, overpriced meals that people will shell out extra cash for because they want to feel fancy. Not saying I won't be taking them up on it myself, but let's not pretend like this is some kind of altruistic effort to boost local businesses πŸ˜’

omg u guys, i'm so down for this! restaurant week is literally the best way to beat the winter blues 🍴🌨️ center city's extension is, like, totally awesome considering all the closures due to winter storms ❄️ it makes sense that they'd want to keep the deals going since people are already stuck indoors πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ but i'm curious, how's the demand looking for these discounted meals? and do u think this will become a staple event in center city or is it just another thing that comes and goes?

omg can u believe they're extending restaurant week 🀯? i was so down for that, and now i'm like extra excited cuz it means i get to try more restaurants and stuff! winter storms are literally ruining our plans lol. center city district is all about supporting local businesses, which is awesome. and it's not just about the food (although, let's be real, that's a big part of it 🍴). it's about making the workweek less boring and more special. i mean, who doesn't love a good excuse to get outta the house and enjoy some fancy dinner? northern liberties and east passyunk are also doing their own restaurant weeks, so i'm thinking of hitting up those spots too. fingers crossed they can keep this momentum going all winter long πŸ’–

omg u gotta try dis restaurant week!! 🀯 i went last yr & it was life changing πŸ˜‚ they got 60+ spots & all ur fave restaurants r doin prix fixe dinners @ super low prices. its like a mini vacation from work lol. & yaaas, its not just about the food (although thats def the best part 🍴) its about tryin new places & supportin local businesses. i hear northern liberties got one too! πŸ’― i'm thinkin of checkin it out dis weekend

I'm so glad they extended Center City's Restaurant Week, I was worried it was gonna be cancelled like when the snow day in 2018 didn't happen 🌨️. Now we can enjoy discounted meals at our fave spots and make the workweek feel more bearable πŸ˜“. And, you know, it's not just about the food – it's about the experience. Reminds me of when I used to go out with friends on Friday nights in 2012, before the city became super busy πŸŒƒ. Anyways, Northern Liberties is doing their own thing too, so we gotta support all the neighborhoods πŸ’•. The prices are gonna be pretty sweet tho...

omg I'm so down for this 🀩 - 9% increase in services is crazy! and the fact that it's extended until Feb 4? πŸ™Œ Center City District must be doing something right, Northern Liberties and East Passyunk are already jumping on the bandwagon... stats like these will definitely attract more tourists and boost local businesses. the economics just make sense πŸ“ˆ

omg i'm so glad they extended restaurant week, my friends and i were literally talking about how boring it is during the weekdays πŸ€ͺ i mean we've been stuck in class all morning and then have to drag ourselves back home for dinner... it's like, yay weekend vibes 24/7! but seriously, i think these events really do help boost morale (and our grades lol) when you get to enjoy a delicious meal with friends after a long day of studying πŸ΄πŸ“š

omg u guys i'm so down for this extension 🀩 they need to keep the deals going ASAP i was planning to check out that new italian place in center city and now i can do it without breaking the bank πŸ’Έ 9% increase is not bad at all, i'm just glad it's bringing more life to those restaurants 🍴 anyone know which other neighborhoods are doing their own restaurant weeks? northern liberties one started yesterday so i might have to check that out too πŸ€”

Ugh, I'm so done with winter storms disrupting everything 🌨️😩. But I guess extending Center City's Restaurant Week is kind of a silver lining? It's like they're trying to make up for all the cancellations and closures by giving people something to look forward to. And honestly, who can blame them? A discounted meal sounds amazing right about now ❀️. Plus, it's great that so many restaurants are on board with this extension - 122 is a lot! Maybe we'll even get some new spots added? Fingers crossed for February 4 🀞.

πŸ€— I'm so stoked they extended restaurant week! You know what's even better than a good deal on dinner? A good deal that breaks up the monotony of the workweek πŸ™Œ. It's all about finding those little moments to unwind and treat yourself, you know? And honestly, who doesn't love a good excuse to get outta the house and try some new foodie spots? πŸ’• The fact that it's boosting local businesses is just the icing on the cake – let's keep supporting our community! 🍰

winter storm or not, restaurant week is just an excuse for overpriced food πŸ€ͺ. like we really need another reason to break the bank and dine out during the middle of the week. still, i guess it's nice that local businesses are trying to stay afloat, even if it means we get to enjoy fancy meals at discounted prices. 9% increase in services is definitely better than nothing πŸ€‘. but let's not forget, these events also come with some pretty steep tourist traffic, which can be tough for regular folks to navigate. still, if you're looking to try something new or just need a mid-week treat, go ahead and take advantage of the deal 🍴

omg i was so bummed when i heard this news and now i get 2 more weeks of foodie heaven lol. i think it's awesome that they extended it cuz it really helps out local businesses during the winter blues πŸ’ΈπŸ΄. i'm def hitting up some of those 60+ restaurants in center city 🀀. anyone know which ones are participating?

omg i'm so stoked that restaurant week got extended 🀩! i was really looking forward to trying some new places and saving some cash at the same time πŸ’Έ. now that it's going until feb 4, i'll have to plan ahead and make reservations ASAP πŸ“…. i love how center city district is supporting local businesses during this crazy winter weather ❄️. and yay for other neighborhoods getting in on the action too! northern liberties and east passyunk are also offering deals? that's just awesome 😊. maybe we can get a little taste of foodie heaven in each neighborhood πŸ΄πŸ‘Œ

omg i cant even believe i missed restaurant week lol 🀣 i know its not like they can just extend it indefinitely but 2 more weeks sounds like a good deal to me. idk how many ppl are affected by winter storms though, my grandma had to cancel all her plans because of snow last year and she was really looking forward to trying out that new italian place in center city 🌨️🍝 does anyone know which restaurants are offering the best deals tho?

omg can't believe they extended restaurant week 🀩! i was so hyped for it and now i get an extra 2 weeks to try all those restaurants πŸ˜‚. winters are literally the best time to explore new eats in philly, but this is just insane... did u hear northern liberties and east passyunk got their own events? πŸ‘€ can't wait to check them out too πŸ’Έ

omg I'm so down for this! extended restaurant week is like, exactly what I needed 🀩. I've been stuck in a rut with my dining schedule and now I have extra time to try out all those restaurants I've been meaning to check out πŸ˜‹. it's awesome that center city district decided to extend it too - i'm loving the 19% increase in sales from jan 4-10 pm, that's some serious money πŸ’Έ! northern liberties restaurant week is also calling my name πŸ€— gotta try them out soon!

omg, like, finally some good news πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ. so, you know how we're all stuck inside during this winter storm thingy? well, at least we can enjoy our meals out without having to spend an arm and a leg πŸ’Έ. restaurant week is literally the best thing that's happened to my work schedule since... ever πŸ˜‚. i mean, who needs a social life when you can just eat all your money at one of those participating places? 🀣 seriously though, it's cool that they're extending it. more deals for us = happy me πŸŽ‰. and btw, have you tried that new place in center city yet? πŸ€”

omg u guys, restaurant week is back and it's been extended 🀩! i'm so down for those discounted prix fixe dinners. center city district really knows how to bring some life to the neighborhood during the winter months. 9% increase in services? that's impressive! πŸ‘ the fact that all 122 restaurants are participating now is a major win for foodies and locals alike. northern liberties and east passyunk have their own events going on too, so this just means more dining options for us. Giavana Suraci Pruiti hits the nail on the head - it's all about making those workweek nights feel special ✨. can't wait to check out some of these participating restaurants! 🍴

πŸ΄πŸ’• I'm so glad they extended it! I was really looking forward to trying out some new places during the week. Winter is such a great time to get out and explore, but it can be super gloomy too πŸ˜”. This event definitely makes it feel more special to grab dinner with friends or family instead of just another night at home πŸ΄πŸ’¬. The discounts are pretty sweet too - I'm planning on hitting up that new Italian place I've been wanting to try! πŸπŸ‘Œ
