Chicago Doctor Charged in Slayings of Ex-Wife, Husband in Ohio Waives Right to Extradition Hearing

A 39-year-old Chicago doctor, Michael David McKee, who is accused of murdering his ex-wife, Monique Tepe, and her husband, Spencer Tepe, at their home in Columbus, Ohio, has waived his right to an extradition hearing. McKee appeared expressionless as he walked into the courtroom wearing a yellow jumpsuit with shackles around his wrists.

The murders took place on December 30th at the couple's residence, where no signs of forced entry or struggle were found. Police also discovered that a weapon was not present at the scene and nothing was stolen from the home. The couple's two young children and their dog were left unharmed in the house.

According to court records, McKee and Monique Tepe married in 2015, but divorced two years later. They later remarried in 2020. Spencer Tepe was a dentist with an active medical license in Illinois and California, while McKee also holds licenses in those states.

Police received a tip after finding security footage of a person matching the suspect's description walking near the couple's home between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m., when investigators believed they were attacked. The release generated dozens of tips and took the manhunt across multiple states, ultimately leading to McKee's arrest in Winnebago County.

McKee's family has expressed gratitude for the arrest, calling it an "important step towards justice." In a statement, they said that Monique and Spencer remain at the center of their hearts and that they trust the justice system to hold the person accountable.

Spencer Tepe was described as an "extraordinary person" by his family, who also highlighted his charitable work with organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters. Monique Tepe was remembered as a "loving, patient, and joyful mother" who loved baking and planning.

The case is still ongoing, and official reports from the Franklin County coroner's office will not be completed for several weeks.
 
Man, this is just so sad 🤕... I mean, can you even imagine walking into a courtroom in some yellow jumpsuit with shackles on your wrists? It's like something out of a movie or a bad dream 😱. And to think that this guy was the one who had to deal with all this drama, what with his ex-wife and her new husband being murdered right under his nose... it's just too much for me to handle 🤯.

I remember back in the day when you'd see these domestic violence cases on TV or in movies, but it wasn't as publicized as it is now. Now we have all this technology that can track people down and bring them to justice, which is a good thing, I guess 🙏. But at the end of the day, no amount of tech or justice can bring back these two innocent lives... poor Spencer and Monique 🤞.
 
😐 I'm just thinking about this... if you're gonna wanna hurt someone that bad, why do it right in front of your own kids? Like what even is that?! 🤔 I know people say they're all messed up and can't help themselves but still... 😒 I don't get it. And on the other hand, the fact that his family's trying to stay positive about it kinda gets me... I mean, you gotta respect that they love him no matter what, even if he's done some crazy stuff. 🤷‍♂️ The whole thing just feels really... messed up 😕
 
OMG, I just got back from the most amazing vacation in Hawaii 🌴🏖️! The beaches were literally paradise on earth, I swear I almost forgot about everything else while I was there 😂. Anyway, have you guys ever tried poke bowls? They're literally life changing... or at least, they were for me when I went to that one place in Waikiki 🤤. And oh, the scenery was just stunning - I took like a million photos of sunsets and palm trees 📸🌳. Sorry, what was I saying again? Oh yeah, the doctor guy... sounds super creepy 🙅‍♂️. Anyway, back to poke bowls... have you tried that new spot downtown?
 
man what's going on with these doctors in america 🤯 this guy McKee is a total psycho he killed his exwife and her new husband and left their kids and dog just chillin at home like nothing happened 😱 I mean i know they were divorced and remarried but still... 2am to 5am attack? that's some crazy stuff. and now the guy is just walking around in a yellow jumpsuit with shackles on his wrists, expressionless 🚔 I hope he gets locked up for life. poor Tepe family, they deserve justice. 🤞
 
🤕 this whole thing is just so sad 😔, can't even imagine being in their shoes 💔. McKee was already divorced once before they remarried 🚫, and now look what's happened 💀. The fact that the security footage led to his arrest is a good start #JusticeForMoniqueAndSpencer. I'm glad the kids and dog were safe #Grateful. Family members saying it's an "important step towards justice" is definitely true #Hope. But how many years will they spend in prison? Only time will tell ⏰.
 
🤯 this guy got away with murder twice already! married to his ex-wife, divorced, remarried... what's going on here? 🚔 he's been spotted near their home before they died, no forced entry or struggle... it's like something fishy went down and the cops just can't seem to catch a break. 😩 I'm all for due process, but this is some crazy stuff right now. 😕
 
I mean, I know it sounds crazy but maybe we're jumping to conclusions here? The guy's got a history with his ex-wife, they were married and divorced like 3 times... what if he just lost it completely in that moment? 🤷‍♂️ I'm not saying it's okay for anyone to kill someone, but let's keep things in perspective. His family's still hurting from the loss of their loved ones, so maybe we should be focusing on supporting them rather than tearing him down. And what about Spencer? He was a dentist, for crying out loud! Did he have any idea his ex-wife was planning something like this? We don't know all the facts here... 🤔
 
🤕 So crazy what happened to this family! It's like they were just living their normal life, and then... boom! Their lives are turned upside down. I mean, can you even imagine walking into your home one minute and finding out that someone has murdered your loved ones? 😱 I'm just so sorry for Monique, Spencer, and their two young kids who have to go through this trauma.

And what's with the security footage? It's like it was meant to be a clue all along! 🕵️‍♀️ But seriously, how can you even find someone in a whole town without knowing they're hiding in plain sight? 😂

I don't know what's going on in that guy's head, but I do know that justice needs to be served ASAP. The family is already dealing with so much emotional pain, and the fact that his family is still holding onto hope for accountability is just heartbreaking 🤗.

First time was messy and then rematched, but clearly that didn't work out... anyway, hoping justice gets served for the Tepe family 👊

anywayz, doc was found walkin near the spot w/ a security cam matchin his pic from Feb tho 📺 he rly didnt try to hide it. now hes in custody & hopefully gets the death penalty 4 these brutal murders 🚔

I mean, I guess you can't rule out motive just because they were divorced and remarried twice 💕. But still, 39 years old? That's crazy young to be doing something like this 😲. And on top of it all, he's a doctor! You'd think he'd know better 🤦‍♂️.

Anyway, I guess we'll just have to wait and see how the case unfolds 🕰️. For now, my thoughts are with the Tepe family - they must be going through so much right now 😔.

i mean, i know michael david mckee has his medical licenses in multiple states, but who cares about all that when someone's life was taken 🤷‍♀️? the case may be ongoing, but at least now we know he's behind bars where he can't hurt anyone else 🚔. i just wish justice could have been served a lot sooner 😩.

anyway... let's just hope that monique and spencer's family gets the closure they deserve soon 💕.
 
Man, this whole thing just hits you hard, ya know? Like, what goes through someone's mind when they can't even take care of their own family anymore? I mean, they had two little kids and a dog left behind, all alone... 🤕 It's like, what's the point of having love and connections if we're just gonna let our demons consume us?

And then you see the family's statement, talking about trust in the justice system... it's like, yeah, I get that. But can't we also try to understand where this guy came from? What drove him to do something so heinous? Maybe we should be asking ourselves if there are any warning signs, any red flags that we missed along the way?

Man... this just breaks my heart 🤕. I'm all about justice, but it feels like this doc, Michael McKee, he's just so cold-blooded 💉. I mean, can you even imagine coming home to find your ex-wife and her husband murdered in their own house? 😱 And those kids... they must be totally traumatized 🤯. The whole thing is just so disturbing.

I know we've all had our fair share of relationship drama and break-ups, but this? This is just on a whole other level 😩. It's like he just snapped or something. I'm not excusing his actions at all, but it's hard not to feel a little bit of sympathy for the victims' families.

I do have to give props to Spencer Tepe's family though 🙏. They're still holding on to their charitable work and the good person he was, which is really inspiring. And Monique... she was just a loving mom who loved baking and planning? That's what I want to remember about her, not the fact that she got murdered 😔.

Anyway, it's gonna be a long road for these families to get justice, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that McKee gets the sentence he deserves 💪. The justice system is still doing its thing, and I hope they uncover all the details to make sure this guy pays for what he did 🤝.

I mean, why even have kids if you're gonna hurt them? 🙅‍♂️ 2 yrs ago they were married, divorced, remarried... it's like they were trying to make the whole "forever" thing work. 😒 And no signs of struggle or anything taken from the house... just a random walk-in murder. 🚫 Family's all smiles about the arrest tho, but I get why you'd be upset when your loved one gets hurt like that.
 
I can feel so much pain and sadness for Monique and Spencer's families 🤕💔. Losing a loved one is never easy, and it's especially hard when it's at the hands of someone close to you. It's like your whole world gets turned upside down 💥. I hope the justice system does bring some kind of closure to their families soon. man... this one's a real head-scratcher 🤯, you know? on one hand, gotta respect the justice system moving fast on this one - they got him ASAP 💨. but at the same time, can't help but wonder if they're gonna get a fair trial or just rush through it to fit a narrative 📚. i mean, doc had a history with his ex-wife, remarried her after the divorce... that's some weird stuff right there 😳. and what was he doing in ohio at 2am? not sure how reliable this security footage is either 👀. hope they can get to the bottom of this and give those victims' families some closure 💔.
