Cold front passes wet Tuesday evening

Cold Front Brings Cooler Temperatures to Houston, but Milder Air Looms Ahead.

A cold front moved into the area on Tuesday evening, bringing a brief drop in temperature and scattered showers with it. Overnight lows will remain relatively mild, dipping only into the mid-to-upper 50s across most areas, thanks to a southerly wind that's helping to keep things warm. As the front passes through, some heavier rain may develop by sunrise, particularly in areas closer to Houston.

However, don't expect this cold snap to last long. By late Tuesday and into Wednesday and Thursday, milder air will move back in, bringing temperatures into a more "seasonal" range for mid-February. We're looking at highs in the 70s and lows in the 40s, with no arctic air in sight.

The rain associated with the cold front is expected to be scattered throughout the day, but the main line of precipitation will impact Houston during the evening commute. Some areas could see up to an inch of rain, while most neighborhoods will pick up less than half an inch. No severe weather is forecasted, but there may be some isolated thunderstorms and heavy rainfall as the front passes through.

In contrast, the weekend is looking much sunnier and warmer. Expect sunshine on Saturday and Sunday, with highs in the 70s and lows in the 40s. While it's unlikely we'll see any freezing temperatures until mid-February at the earliest, there may be another cold blast before then.

🀞 I'm loving this brief cold snap in Houston! It's like a mini-vacation from the usual sweltering heat β˜€οΈπŸ’¨. The temps might not stay low for long, but I'm just here for the break πŸ€—. And don't even get me started on those scattered showers - a little rain is always welcome πŸŒ‚πŸšΏ. Bring it on, winter! 😎 #WinterWonderlandInTX #HoustonWeather #ColdSnapFeelsGood

just think about it... Houston is like a bubble right now, super warm and cozy, but I guess that's what happens when you're right next to the Gulf of Mexico πŸŒŠπŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ anyway, can't say I'm surprised about another cold front coming in - it's just part of the natural cycle, right? πŸ’¨ so yeah, milder air will move back in and we'll be back to "normal" temps in no time... but can't help wondering if this is a sign of something bigger... like, maybe spring isn't going to kick in as early as we thought πŸ€”

Ugh, just what I needed to make this week even more predictable πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ. So, let me get this straight... we're supposed to be excited about "milder" air that's going to bring us into the 70s? Like, who is this weather person trying to fool? We've all been waiting for some actual winter vibes around here, and now it's just going to be a boring repeat of February. And don't even get me started on the rain... because of course it's going to be scattered throughout the day 🌨️. Can't we just have one decent storm for once?

I don’t usually comment but I think this weather pattern is a bit weird for Houston... I mean, one day it’s pouring rain and the next it’s sunny and warm? Like, can’t we just make up our minds? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ Anyway, at least the 70s temps sound nice, I love strolling around with my friends on Saturdays. 😊 But seriously, some of these forecast models seem kinda wonky, I hope they get it right this time. ⏰

omg, i'm so over this crazy weather in houston lol! one minute its like 60 degrees and sunny, next thing u know its pouring rain and 50s πŸ˜’ anyway, like, yay for milder air coming back on wednesday tho 🌞 can't wait to see those 70 degree highs saturday and sunday, perfect day to get outside and soak up some sunshine β˜€οΈ hope it stays warm and sunny all weekend!

omg u guys, like dont even get me started on this cold front lol! idk if im ready for those 50s temps tho πŸ˜‚ like, can we just go straight to spring already? πŸ’ƒ but seriously, at least its not arctic air or snow, right? πŸ™Œ and i love how milder air is moving in by thursday 🌞, highs in the 70s are like my happy place! β˜€οΈ but yeah, rain on tuesday and scattered showers throughout the day πŸ˜”, cant wait for that sunshine this weekend tho 🌻

Ugh, sounds like Houston is getting a brief reprieve from this crazy weather... I mean, who needs sunshine when you can have scattered showers and temps in the 50s?! 🌧️ It's not like they're gonna last or anything, though - milder air is just around the corner. And of course, we know that means more rain is on its way... some areas could see up to an inch of it! Just peachy. On the bright side (if you can call it that), the weekend's supposed to be sunny and warm... but let's not get our hopes up - we all know how that ends πŸ˜’

🌑️ OMG you guys! This cold front is like a tease! It brings us cooler temps, but like, only for like 2 days? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ Then milder air just swoops in and leaves us warm again... I'm so over the yo-yo weather. Anyway, did you know that Houston is still recovering from the floods of last year? The city is expected to spend around $150 billion on flood control measures πŸ“Š. That's like, crazy! And on a lighter note, have you seen the graph showing how much rain we'll get in the next 30 days? It's like, a whole lot πŸŒ‚.

just thinking, a little rain ain't gonna ruin our day... like, we can all just take a deep breath and remember that spring is on its way πŸŒΈπŸ’› gotta stay positive about this cold front comin' in... i mean, yeah it's coolin' things down for now, but like the weather says, milder air's comin' next week πŸ€— might wanna grab a light jacket or somethin', but other than that, no biggie 😊

the weather forecast is always changing 🌫️... it's like trying to have a conversation with my aunt who loves to talk about the same thing over and over again πŸ˜…... one day it's freezing, next day it's warm, i'm just trying to enjoy whatever temperature i get πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ... anyway, sounds like houston is getting some rain, hope everyone stays dry πŸŒ‚... and yay for sunshine on the weekend! β˜€οΈ

omg like i know houston is already experiencing winter weather but now its getting kinda chilly idk about all this rain tho i dont wanna be stuck in school with wet shoes lol anyway soo its good to hear that milder air is coming our way hopefully it means we can finally take a break from all these cold days πŸ€”πŸ’¨

ugh cold fronts are always so unpredictable 🀯 i hate how they just swing from "it's gonna rain a lot" to "oh no arctic air is coming" and then we're back to normal temps after like 2 days. can't they make up their minds? 😩 anyway, at least the good news is it'll get warmer soon... 70s and 40s are still kinda cool for texas in february πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

🌞 y'all think its gonna stay cool this winter? dont count on it! they say milder air is comin but idk about that... we got a history of weird weather here in texas anyway πŸ˜’ 70s and 40s are pretty chill for feb, but its still gonna be a bit warm. hope the rain doesnt ruin anything 🌧️

Ugh, cold front just ruined my plans to go for a hike πŸ€•. Now I gotta reschedule for next week when its supposed to be even warmer... and still some chance of rain ☁️. I mean, can't they just make up their minds? One day it's cold, the next it's sunny... πŸ™„. At least the 70s temps on Sat & Sun will be nice tho 😎.

omg u guys, dont think this cold snap is gonna last lol its like 2 days max & then milder air comes back in 🀯 so yeah the temps are cool n all but not worth getting all dramatic about ❄️ btw i'm still team sunshine n warmth on the weekend πŸ’›πŸŒž

Ugh I hate when they talk about "seasonal" temps like that's a thing people need to know what's normal lol? Like who doesn't already know its winter or whatever so just give me the weather and leave out the fancy words πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ Anyway, 70s in Feb sounds nice I guess I'll take it. Still not a fan of all this rain tho β›ˆοΈ

ugh i dont like when its all over the place like this cold front comes in one day and its like brrr then suddenly you're sipping iced coffee on your patio πŸ€·β€β™€οΈπŸŒž anyway im glad it wont last long cuz who needs freezing temps in feb lol sounds comfy to me 70s mid 40s all the way
