Crystal Palace end long wait for win after Ismaïla Sarr's strike stuns Brighton

Crystal Palace finally ended their 12-match winless run in the league, thanks to Ismaïla Sarr's decisive goal against Brighton. The Senegal forward's strike was a welcome respite for Palace fans, who had been subjected to a dismal run of form that saw their team fail to pick up any points. Hürzeler must be wondering when he will have another chance to get one over his former mentor Oliver Glasner, whose record against him now stands at three defeats and a draw.

Brighton's struggles have been an inability to finish teams off, resulting in a downward spiral down the table since their November win over Nottingham Forest. The team lacked ruthlessness against opponents who had not won a game of any sort since mid-December, and were grateful for Sarr's goal to bring an end to their own poor run of form.

The result was a welcome boost for Glasner, whose new big-money signings Evann Guessand and Jørgen Strand Larsen made an impact on their debuts. While Hürzeler left the field to widespread boos from his own fans, chants of "You're getting sacked in the morning" echoed through Selhurst Park.

Glasner has already confirmed he will leave Palace in the summer, while television cameras at the final whistle showed the Brighton owner looking far from impressed with his side's performance. Hürzeler could also find himself looking for a new club if this carries on much longer.

The game saw Harry Howell become the youngest player to start a Premier League game for Brighton, but his fellow teenager Charalampos Kostoulas was unable to take their best opportunity to equalise after Sarr struck just after the hour following an error from veteran captain Lewis Dunk.

Strand Larsen impressed as he became a willing replacement for Jean-Philippe Mateta, proving himself to be a valuable addition to the Palace squad. His two chances to put the game out of reach were denied by Verbruggen's legs, leaving Brighton looking devoid of ideas and resigned to their fate.

Lol @ Hürzeler's fans being super supportive 🤣♂️, I mean, "you're getting sacked in the morning" is just so... enthusiastic 😂. Guess he won't be needing a mid-season coaching change or anything 🙅‍♂️. On a more serious note, glad to see Sarr score and break that winless streak for Palace - it's about time they got their act together 💪. Those Brighton players need to step up their game if they wanna compete with the likes of Palace... or at least try not to concede like they did 😴.

I'm not surprised Palace finally broke their winless streak... it was only a matter of time lol 😒. I mean, anyone can beat Brighton when they're that bad 🤦‍♂️. But seriously, Sarr's goal was probably the difference between victory and another 0-0 draw. Hürzeler must be feeling like he's losing his mind out there ⚠️. And poor guy got booed off by his own fans... talk about a toxic atmosphere 🤯. Meanwhile, Glasner is just collecting his paycheck until the summer when he'll be leaving Palace for greener pastures 💸. The new signings at Brighton are not doing much to impress either 🙄. Guess that's what happens when you don't spend your money wisely 😒.

aww, poor guys at Crystal Palace 🤕 they must've been so frustrated with that 12-match losing streak 😩 but yay for Ismaïla Sarr!!! his goal was a total game-changer 💥 and Evann Guessand and Jørgen Strand Larsen seemed like lifesavers on the pitch 🙌 their debuts couldn't have come at a better time. meanwhile, the Brighton fans were pretty vocal about Hürzeler's departure... yeah, it doesn't look good for him 😳 but hey, let's just hope he finds a new team that appreciates him soon 🤞

Just watched this match and I'm low-key impressed with Crystal Palace finally breaking their winless streak 💪🏼🔥! They deserved that 3 points against Brighton 🎉 Ismaïla Sarr's goal was a game-changer 💥 and Hürzeler must be like "what have I done?" 😂 #PalaceUnited #SarrToTheRescue #BrightonBlues

I think Brighton just had an off day 🤦‍♂️ they lack that killer instinct 🔪 to finish games off and it's gonna cost 'em in the table 💔. On the other hand, Glasner's signings Evann Guessand & Jørgen Strand Larsen looked sharp on debut 🎯 #BrightonRebuilding #NewBlood

Glasner's leaving Palace in the summer 🕰️ but at least his new squad is looking promising 🔮 And Hürzeler needs to step up or ship out ⚔️ #PalaceFuture #LeavesOfSummer

man this is crazy how one win can change everything for a team & a manager 😅 like crystal palace fans were so down on their luck with that 12-match losing streak but sarr comes in saves the day what does it say about hürzeler's squad tho? they got beat by Brighton at home... gotta wonder if he was out of his depth 🤔

I think this is the perfect time for Hürzeler to start thinking about his future at Selhurst Park 🤔. The Palace fans are already losing faith in him, and it's only a matter of time before they turn on him if things don't improve. Meanwhile, Glasner is getting his just desserts - he might have made some flashy signings, but his team's inability to finish games off is looking more and more concerning by the minute ⚽️.

I'm loving Strand Larsen's debut so far, though! He seems like a solid addition to the Palace squad. And poor Brighton, they can't catch a break right now 😔. They need to sort out their finishing issues if they want to compete with the top teams in the league.

One thing that did strike me as interesting is how Harry Howell became the youngest player to start a Premier League game for Brighton, but his teammate Charalampos Kostoulas couldn't capitalize on the opportunity to equalize. It just goes to show that having young players in your squad can be both a blessing and a curse - they bring fresh energy and ideas, but also need guidance and experience to develop their skills 🤓.

It's been a long time coming, but Crystal Palace finally have some hope now that they've ended their winless run. Let's see if Hürzeler can build on this momentum and turn things around for the team 💪.

I don't get why Hürzeler still got the job 😒. 12 winless matches is a disaster, you'd think he's fired on the spot! The fact that fans are booing him at his own stadium says a lot. And now, Brighton is already struggling again, it's like they're stuck in a rut 🔄. I need to see more than just one good result before I can believe this team will turn things around. Where's the data on these signings, Evann Guessand and Jørgen Strand Larsen? Is there any proof they're making an impact or are they just getting a free pass because of their big-money transfers?

Omg I'm so hyped for Crystal Palace now 🤩! 12-match winless run is CRAZY 😱 and Ismaïla Sarr's goal was like the icing on the cake 🍰. I feel bad for Hürzeler tho, those boos from his own fans must've been super painful 😳 #PalaceComeback

Brighton's struggles are REAL 🤦‍♂️ and I think they need to sort out their finishing skills ASAP 💪. The fact that Sarr scored just after an error from Dunk is just a reminder of what could've been 🤔 #TeamWorkMakesTheDreamWork

Glasner's new signings Evann Guessand and Jørgen Strand Larsen are def making a difference 🤝! Strand Larsen was so impressive, can't wait to see more of him 😍 #NewSignings = NewLifeForPalace

But seriously though, Hürzeler needs to step up his game if he wants to keep his job ⏰. And with Glasner leaving in the summer, I wonder what's next for both of them 🤔 #TransferNews

I'm not surprised that Palace finally broke their losing streak... it's about time really 😒. It just goes to show how bad they've been doing all season. I mean, 12 matches without a win? That's just embarrassing. And now Hürzeler is getting roasted by his own fans... those poor guys must be so fed up with him.

And Brighton's struggles are nothing new... they're always struggling to finish teams off. It's like they're afraid of losing or something 🙄. I've been saying it for ages, if you can't beat them at home, you'll get beaten away from home. They need to sort themselves out before it's too late.

Glasner's new signings are probably the reason Palace finally won... not because he's actually a good manager or anything 😂. And now he's just going to leave in the summer? Typical. He'll find another team that's willing to throw money at him and hope for the best. Meanwhile, Hürzeler is left to pick up the pieces... poor guy's job security must be non-existent now.

And those young players from Brighton? Not a clue how to finish off a game 🤦‍♂️. I mean, Harry Howell was starting in the Premier League at 18 and that's about as impressive as it gets. But can he even do anything in a big match? Apparently not.

OMG u guys I just watched the match between Crystal Palace and Brighton 😱 and it was crazy! Palace finally broke that 12-match losing streak 🤯, thanks to Ismaïla Sarr's sick goal 💥. I feel so bad for the Brighton fans tho 🙁, they've been struggling for ages now 📉. And omg Hürzeler is getting BOOED off the pitch 😂👎! But on a more serious note, Harry Howell was SO impressive making his Premier League debut 💪 and Strand Larsen looks like he's gonna be key player for Palace 🤩. Can't wait to see how the rest of the season unfolds ⏰

I don't think it's that surprising that Hürzeler got the boot... I mean, his team has been playing poorly for months now 🤔. The fact that they couldn't even muster up a decent performance against Palace, who were winless all season? It's just not good enough 🔥. And yeah, Glasner's signings have made a difference - Evann Guessand and Jørgen Strand Larsen have already shown they're worth the cash 💸. But Hürzeler can't take that credit... he deserves to be on the chopping block 🚫.

omg i just watched this match lol what was that hürzeler face ?? 😂 he looked so deflated i feel bad for him haha anyway crystal palace is back on track now yay sarr's goal was sweet did anyone see the highlights ?? 📺 and i wonder who evann guessand is gonna play against nottingham forest next week 🤔

I gotta say, this Crystal Palace vs Brighton match was like a much-needed wake-up call for both teams 🚨. Palace has been struggling for ages, but they finally broke that 12-match winless run, and it feels like such a weight's been lifted off those fans' shoulders 😌.

But on the other hand, Brighton just can't seem to finish games off, you know? They've got some talented players, but they need to work on being ruthless in front of goal 🔴. It's like they're giving away free points left and right 🤑.

The fact that Harry Howell became the youngest player to start a Premier League game for Brighton is pretty cool, though 👏. And Strand Larsen looking good as a Palace player? That's a big plus for Glasner 😊. But Hürzeler's gonna have to do some serious soul-searching if he wants to get out of this job 🤔.

Glasner's already planning his exit, and it looks like Brighton's fans are starting to turn on Hürzeler ⚠️. So, yeah, let's see how long Hürzeler can keep his head in the game 😬. This match was just what Palace needed – a confidence boost – but Brighton needs to sort out their finishing issues ASAP 🕒.

I'm so hyped that Crystal Palace finally broke their losing streak! Sarr's goal was like a weight lifted off their shoulders - they really needed that win 🤩. And poor Hürzeler, his fans were having none of it 😂. I feel bad for the guy though, he must be on edge thinking about his job security.

I'm loving Glasner's recruitment so far, especially with those new signings Guessand and Strand Larsen - they're already making an impact 💪. And Brighton, man... they just can't finish off their chances. It's like they're waiting for someone to give them a gift 🎁. On the other hand, Strand Larsen was impressive, he's definitely got what it takes to be a solid addition to Palace.

The game was super intense, and I'm loving the young talent coming through at Brighton - Harry Howell and Kostoulas are like the future of the team ⚡️. But for now, they just can't seem to catch a break. Bring on next week's match! 📺

man I dont think evann guessand is gonna make a huge impact on palace this season 🤔 they got some decent signings but hes still gotta prove himself in the premier league.

Hürzeler is getting sacked it's only a matter of time ⏰ his team was playing like crap and fans were venting their frustration at him. I dont blame them, he needs to sort out his tactics ASAP.

Brighton fans are probably feeling frustrated but they gotta be patient with glasner he just got the job 🤞 and hes trying to rebuild the team from scratch. its not easy to turn around a struggling squad.

I loved watching strand larsen play though 💪 hes a talented guy and palace fans can look forward to seeing more of him in the coming months.

I'm lovin' this! Finally, Crystal Palace gets that win 🙌! Hürzeler must be feelin' like a right dodgy geezer after gettin' slammed by his own fans 😂. And poor old Hürzeler's got Brighton to thank for it too - they've been strugglin' somethin' chronic and deservedly got done over 🤣.

It's all good vibes for Glasner now, though - that three-decision win against Palace's gonna look even better with the new signings doin' their thing 💪. Evann Guessand and Jørgen Strand Larsen are definitely comin' into their own, ain't they? I'm lovin' the way they're bossin' it on the pitch 🎉.

Still, can't help but think Brighton's in for a right old rough ride if this form keeps up 😬. Hürzeler might just find himself lookin' for a new job by summer time... fingers crossed! 💁‍♂️

😬 I feel so bad for Hürzeler's fans, they must've been so frustrated with that team's performance! 12 match winless run is just brutal 💔. I don't blame them for booing him off though, he clearly didn't get the results he wanted from his side. On a positive note, I love how excited Palace fans are about Evann Guessand and Jørgen Strand Larsen's debut - they're definitely going to be important players for the team! 🤞 As for Brighton, it's not their first set back this season... hope they can bounce back soon 😊.
