Davis Cup Finals: Spain beat Germany to set up final against holders Italy

Spain edged out Germany to set up a Davis Cup final against holders Italy, thanks in large part to victories from doubles duo Marcel Granollers and Pedro Martinez. The decisive match was won by the Spanish pair after Krawietz and Puetz were forced into a tiebreaker, although their German opponents had initially levelled at 5-4 before Granollers and Martinez took control.

Earlier, Pablo Carreno Busta led Spain to an early advantage with a straight-set victory over Jan-Lennard Struff. However, Alexander Zverev fought back to even the tie, forcing it into a decider that was ultimately won by the Spanish pair's superior doubles display.

Their success sets up an all-European final against Italy, who beat Belgium on Friday and will be playing in their third consecutive Davis Cup final. Spain captain David Ferrer expressed pride at his team's efforts, saying he was proud of his players for fighting hard to reach the final but also acknowledging that they would need to rest before facing the Italians.

A first major finals appearance since 1993 remains within Germany's grasp if Zverev regains form in time for Sunday's showdown.

๐Ÿค” I'm not sure about this tiebreak thing, can someone explain it better? Like, how does a tiebreaker work in a tennis match? ๐Ÿค“ And what's up with the German players losing at 5-4 but then coming back to force a decider? It sounds like they had some great comeback skills... or maybe they just ran out of steam ๐Ÿ˜….

OMG I'm SOOO hyped about Spain making it to the Davis Cup final ๐Ÿคฉ๐ŸŽ‰ They played an amazing doubles game and deservedly won that tiebreaker! Granollers & Martinez are literally the dynamic duo ๐Ÿ’• Can't wait to see what they do against Italy, fingers crossed for a Spanish victory ๐Ÿ˜„ David Ferrer is so proud of his team, love how supportive he is ๐Ÿ™Œ Zverev still has a shot at Germany's first major finals win in ages, bring on Sunday! ๐Ÿ’ช

man... can't believe germany got knocked out like this ๐Ÿคฏ i mean, zverev is one of the best players out there and he just got taken down by a doubles team... something doesn't add up about this match. i'm telling you, it was all planned from the start. germany's gonna regroup, train for another day or two, and come back stronger than ever ๐Ÿ’ช i bet their captain is already thinking of ways to turn this around. it's like they wanted to lose that tiebreaker so badly ๐Ÿค” meanwhile, spain just coasted through on their doubles game... too easy?

I'm so stoked about the Davis Cup! Spain totally deserved to make it to the final, especially with those sick doubles performances from Granollers and Martinez ๐Ÿคฉ๐ŸŽพ. It's been ages since Germany had a shot at that title, so let's see if Zverev can turn things around in time for Sunday's match. David Ferrer sounds like a super cool captain - proud of his team, but also knowing when to call it quits ๐Ÿ˜Š. Italy's gonna bring their A-game, though! We're gonna have an epic all-European final on our hands ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ‘€

aww man, Germany is looking so close to bringing home that Davis Cup title ๐Ÿค•... I can feel the disappointment coming from those German fans ๐Ÿ˜”. But let's be real, Alex Zverev has been on fire lately ๐Ÿ”ฅ! It's not impossible for him to regain form and take down Italy in the finals ๐Ÿ’ช. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Germany, but Spain has definitely played some solid tennis ๐ŸŽพ. Either way, it's gonna be a thrilling final! ๐Ÿ†

man...Germany's loss is like, kinda heartbreaking ๐Ÿค•. They had such a good chance of winning, but those Germans just can't seem to get it together when it matters most ๐Ÿ˜”. Marcel Granollers and Pedro Martinez were on fire though! ๐Ÿ’ฅ I mean, I know Spain didn't have the strongest team, but they definitely made up for it with that doubles duo ๐Ÿค. Now we gotta see if Zverev can turn his game around before Sunday's final against Italy...that's gonna be a tough one ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿธ

Just watched the thrilling Davis Cup semifinals and I'm loving the underdog story of Spain! ๐Ÿคฉ Granollers & Martinez are a sick doubles duo, their chemistry on court is on point! ๐Ÿ’ฏ Their win over Germany was a masterclass, they really knew how to step up when it mattered most. And let's be real, an all-European final between Spain and Italy would be EPIC! ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธ vs ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น, can't wait for the final showdown on Sunday! ๐Ÿ˜„ Meanwhile, Zverev still has a chance to save Germany's honor, fingers crossed he gets back in form in time! ๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿค I'm low-key obsessed with tennis right now and this Davis Cup final is gonna be EPIC! Spain's doubles duo Marcel Granollers and Pedro Martinez are absolute geniuses, the way they outsmarted Germany's Krawietz and Puetz was pure art ๐ŸŽจ. And let's not forget Pablo Carreno Busta's sick win over Jan-Lennard Struff - that's some serious power ๐Ÿ’ช! The fact that Spain's team is taking it easy for the final though, feels a bit weird... like they're not gonna be fully rested for the big game against Italy ๐Ÿค”. Germany's still got this though, if Zverev can get his A-game going, they've got a shot at that first major finals win since 1993! ๐Ÿ’ฅ

๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ I was so caught up in everything else I missed this one ๐Ÿ˜…, but like seriously Spain and Granollers are a force to be reckoned with now ๐Ÿคฏ! They really stepped it up when it mattered most and took the tiebreaker against Germany ๐ŸŽพ๐Ÿ’ช And that doubles display? Unbeatable ๐Ÿ’ฅ! Can't wait to see what happens in the final, hope Germany can bounce back from this ๐Ÿ˜Š

๐Ÿค” I think it's awesome that Spain made it to the Davis Cup final ๐Ÿ†! They played some amazing tennis and their doubles duo, Granollers & Martinez, were super solid ๐Ÿ’ช. It's great to see them representing their country on the big stage.

On the other hand, Germany has a lot of heart ๐Ÿ’• and Zverev is definitely one of the best players in Europe ๐Ÿ”ฅ. He's been struggling lately, but if he can get back on track, they'll be super tough opponents for Italy ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น.

What I love about this tournament is how competitive it is ๐Ÿคฏ. All these countries are playing so well, and it's anyone's game until the very end ๐Ÿ’ฅ. Can't wait to see what happens next! ๐Ÿ“บ

๐Ÿค” I think it's crazy how much Spain's doubles team turned the tie around! They were down at 5-4, but then Marcel Granollers and Pedro Martinez just took control and won it for them ๐ŸŽพ๐Ÿ’ช. Germany put up a good fight with Alexander Zverev, though - he really showed his skills out there ๐Ÿ’ช. But in the end, Spain's doubles duo was the one who made all the difference. I wonder if this will be a turning point for German tennis... have they got what it takes to take down Italy now? ๐Ÿคž

๐Ÿธ๏ธ omg, can you believe it? Spain is actually going to play Italy in the Davis Cup final! ๐Ÿคฏ I've been following this tournament and it's been so intense. That Marcel Granollers and Pedro Martinez doubles duo is on fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ! They totally turned the match around when Germany was leading 5-4. And let's be real, that Alexander Zverev can play ๐Ÿ™Œ... his comeback story is definitely one to watch for Sunday's final.

I'm a bit surprised Spain made it over Germany though ๐Ÿ˜…. They were so strong as a team and had some solid wins throughout the tournament. But Italy is no joke either, they've been doing great in this competition too! David Ferrer is right, his team will need to rest up for that one - it's gonna be an epic final!

Germany still has a shot at making history though ๐Ÿคž... if Zverev gets back on form, who knows? It'll be a battle between Europe's top players. Bring it on! ๐Ÿ’ช

OMG I'm so stoked for Spain ๐Ÿคฉ! They totally deserved it after coming back from behind against Germany. Those doubles duo Marcel and Pedro are like a dynamic duo ๐Ÿ‘ฏโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’ช! And can we talk about Pablo Carreno Busta's win over Jan-Lennard Struff? That was some intense tennis ๐Ÿ˜…. I think Spain is gonna crush Italy in the final, but it'll be so close ๐Ÿค”. And Germany's still got a chance to make a comeback if Zverev gets his game back on track ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ. It's all about teamwork and never giving up ๐Ÿ’•. Bring it on, Davis Cup final is gonna be EPIC! ๐ŸŽพ๐Ÿ’ฅ

๐Ÿคฏ I'm low-key hyped about this! Spain totally deserved it, Granollers and Martinez were on fire ๐ŸŒŸ! Did you know that Granollers has an 80% win rate in doubles at the Davis Cup? ๐Ÿ˜ฒ And Martinez is like 70% with his partner ๐Ÿ˜Ž. These stats don't lie, fam!

Here are some fun facts:
๐Ÿ“Š Spain's team average was 4.2 years of experience, while Germany's was only 3.5 ๐Ÿค”
๐Ÿ“ˆ Italy has won the Davis Cup a record 14 times ๐Ÿ†, with their last win coming in 2021. Can they keep it up? ๐Ÿ’ช

Anywayz, can't wait to see what happens in the final! I'm thinking Spain might have the edge, but you never know in sports, right? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Stats to show the power of doubles:
๐Ÿ‘‰ Marcel Granollers & Pedro Martinez's winning streak is 15 matches long ๐Ÿ”ฅ
๐Ÿ‘ˆ Germany's Krawietz & Puetz average a tiebreaker loss of -20 points per match ๐Ÿšซ

aww man, I'm so happy for Spain ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธ their doubles duo Marcel Granollers and Pedro Martinez are literally the best ๐Ÿ’ฏ! I can imagine how tough it must've been for Germany to come from behind like that 5-4 only to lose in a tiebreaker ๐Ÿ˜ฉ. And can you even imagine how proud Spain captain David Ferrer must be of his team? ๐Ÿ™Œ they're really making their country proud! Germany's still got a chance though, so fingers crossed for them ๐Ÿคž Alexander Zverev just needs to get back on track and I'm sure they'll give Italy a run for their money ๐Ÿ’ช.

man... germany's got some serious doubles issues lol, can't believe krawietz and puetz couldn't hold on against granollers and martinez ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. and struff's win was super short-lived, nice try tho! zverev fought hard but i guess his form just isn't there right now ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. still gonna be a great finals match between spain and italy tho, who will come out on top? ๐Ÿธ๐Ÿ‘€
