Detroit finally has a RoboCop statue - Detroit Metro Times

omg I'm literally hyped for this!!! 😆🤖 the statue is finally here and it's so iconic! I love how the city persevered through all those delays and setbacks, it's like they never gave up on their favorite character 💪. and can you believe that Brandon Walley's tweet was the spark that ignited the whole thing? 🚀 fan power is real, fam! 👍

🤔 I'm still not convinced about how much this is really a fan-driven movement. Like, I know Brandon Walley tweeted his idea and all, but wasn't there some city funding or business backing behind it too? 🤑 I need to see those sources before I totally buy into the 'underdog' narrative. And what's with the timeline, 2011 to now... feels like a lot of years for a crowdfunding campaign that barely hit $60k 🤦‍♂️

😂 I gotta say, 15 years is WAY too long for a statue to be in the works. Like, what's up with all that bureaucratic red tape? Can't a city just get its stuff done already?! 🤯 But seriously, it's awesome that Brandon Walley stuck it out and made his idea happen. I mean, who wouldn't want RoboCop as their city's symbol of perseverance? It's like, Detroit's got this whole "underdog" thing going on, and a cybernetic lawman is the perfect fit. Plus, can you imagine all the sick cosplay opportunities now that we've got this statue in town? 🤖💥

omg this is sooo overdue i remember when i was a kid i used to watch robocop all day errytime my dad would be like "why are you watching that old movie for the 100th time" and now we got a statue its about time lol. the fan who tweeted it in the first place, bruce, should get some kind of award or somethin he was so dedicated to this project and didnt give up even when ppl doubted him. i love how detroit is showing off its nerd pride btw

🤖 I'm low-key impressed they finally got it done. 15 years is a looong time, fam! It's crazy to think about how much hype and money went into making this happen. Brandon Walley's tweet was the spark that ignited the whole thing, so props to him for being that guy 😂. Now Detroit can show off its cool factor to the world, and I'm here for it. Maybe they'll even get a sequel to the movie? 😉
