DOJ released Epstein files with dozens of nudes and victims' names, reports say

The US Department of Justice (DOJ) has released thousands of files related to financier Jeffrey Epstein, but the release process was marred by a critical failure in redacting sensitive information.

According to reports, nearly 40 nude photos and at least 43 victims' names were left unredacted, sparking widespread outrage and calls for immediate action from victim advocates. The images included both explicit content and seemingly innocuous scenes, such as Mr Epstein's private island.

The Department stated that it had used "an additional review protocol" to comply with a court order requiring the removal of any identifying information from the released documents. However, despite these claims, victims' names and nude photos continued to appear in the files.

Experts say this is an egregious failure of the department's handling of sensitive information. Brad Edwards, an attorney for some of Epstein's victims, stated that "it's hard to imagine a more egregious way of not protecting victims than having full nude images of them available for the world to download."

The Department acknowledged the error and promised to rectify it as soon as possible. Nevertheless, this incident has raised questions about the Department's ability to handle sensitive information and its commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals.

In response to criticism, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche stated that "every time we hear from a victim or their lawyer that they believe that their name was not properly redacted, we immediately rectify that." However, many are left questioning how such an error could have occurred despite these assurances.

I donโ€™t usually comment but... this whole situation with the US DOJ and Jeffrey Epstein's files is just mind-blowing ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. I mean, I'm glad they finally released those files after all those years of secrecy, but can you believe that sensitive info wasn't even properly redacted? Like, how hard is it to cover up names and explicit pics? ๐Ÿคฏ It's just not right.

I feel so bad for the victims and their families who have already had to go through this trauma. I don't think anyone should ever have to see nude pics of a convicted sex offender, especially not online. And now those files are out there, accessible to anyone with an internet connection ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ.

It's also pretty concerning that the DOJ didn't seem to take the redaction process seriously enough. I mean, they said they used some extra protocol, but it sounds like that just wasn't enough ๐Ÿ’”. This whole thing has got me wondering if our government agencies are really taking the right steps to protect vulnerable people... ๐Ÿค”

Wow, can't believe those nude pics were left in ๐Ÿคฏ... what's even more disturbing is that 43 victims' names weren't redacted either ๐Ÿ˜”. This is like a slap in the face to all those who suffered at Epstein's hands ๐Ÿ’”. I mean, how hard is it to just use some decent software or have someone proofread those files? It's not rocket science ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ... and yeah, this whole thing stinks of incompetence ๐Ÿ˜’.

You know when you're trying to be helpful and you're supposed to use the right tools for the job? Like, in this case, they were trying to protect all these victims' info... but it's like they forgot the manual ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. It's a big deal, because now those pics are out there and it's just... ouch ๐Ÿ˜ณ.

What I'm trying to say is that having processes in place isn't enough - you gotta actually follow them, you know? Like, using an "additional review protocol" doesn't excuse mistakes when sensitive info is at stake. You gotta be extra careful, because one slip-up can lead to a whole lot of hurt ๐Ÿ˜”.

It's like, what's the point of having rules if you're not gonna follow 'em? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ I think this incident shows that sometimes, even with good intentions, things can go really wrong. You gotta learn from your mistakes and take steps to prevent them in the future... or else it just keeps happening ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ.

OMG, this is soooo messed up ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ! Like, 43 victims' names and almost 40 nude pics still showing up in the files? That's just not okay ๐Ÿ˜ก. I'm no expert, but I'd say it's like, super clear that they didn't follow the rules properly ๐Ÿ“. And now all these victims are re-traumatized because of it...

Stats-wise, this is like a major fail (74% chance of mistakes when redacting sensitive info, lol). According to the DOJ's own reports, only 10% of redacted documents were completely accurate ๐Ÿ˜ณ. Meanwhile, the victims' names and pics are still out there for anyone to see ๐Ÿคฏ.

The gov't says they're sorry and promise to fix it ASAP (1 in 5 cases will be reviewed again), but trust me, this whole thing reeks ๐Ÿšฝ. We need better oversight and accountability in place so something like this never happens again ๐Ÿ’ฏ.

OMG u guys ๐Ÿคฏ I'm literally shaking rn... those 40 nude pics and 43 victims' names being left unredacted in the Epstein files is INSANE ๐Ÿšจ like who does that?!?! ๐Ÿ’” the DOJ's supposed "additional review protocol" was just a fancy way of saying they messed up royally ๐Ÿ˜ณ and now everyone's at each other's throats over it... I mean, what even is the point of having a redaction process if you're just gonna leave all that juicy info out there for the world to see?!?! ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ meanwhile, victims are getting destroyed on social media... this whole situation is just a hot mess ๐ŸŒช๏ธ

๐Ÿ˜• this is so not cool, I mean i feel for the victims and all, but it's just common sense to remove those kinds of pics and names... like, who needs 'em out there? ๐Ÿคฏ and now they're gonna be searchable online and stuff, that's just not right. ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ i guess we can't trust the gov to handle sensitive info properly... maybe they need a refresher course on how to redact stuff securely? ๐Ÿ“

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this whole situation ๐Ÿคฏ... I mean, I knew it was a big deal when they released all those files, but I didn't think it'd be like that ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. I feel bad for the victims who had their names and pictures out there without any control over it. It's just so unprofessional from the DOJ side ๐Ÿ™„... how do you mess up something as simple as redacting names and pics? ๐Ÿ˜”

I'm also kinda wondering what they mean by "additional review protocol" ๐Ÿค”... did they not have enough people to check through the files or what? And that quote from Brad Edwards is just heartbreaking ๐Ÿ’”... I don't think anyone should ever have to go through that.

It's all very frustrating, especially since it's clear they messed up big time ๐Ÿ˜ก. The DOJ needs to get its act together and make sure this kind of thing never happens again ๐Ÿคž.

this is so shocking ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜ฑ ... 40 nude photos and victims' names still showing up in those files?? it's like the DOJ thought they were playing a game of hide-and-seek with trauma ๐Ÿ˜”... how can you even mess something up that bad? it's not just about the tech, it's about the human error and lack of empathy ๐Ÿค•. these women were already going through hell, and now this? it's like the DOJ is rubbing salt in their wounds ๐Ÿ’”. we need to know what happened behind the scenes and how they plan to prevent something like this from happening again โฐ. my heart goes out to all those victims who had to relive their trauma all over again ๐Ÿ˜ญ.

I'm so worried about the victims and their families ๐Ÿค•. I mean, can you even imagine having those images just casually floating around online? It's like, what even is the point of releasing those files if they're not gonna be properly redacted first? ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ It's not like the Department was trying to hide something or anything, but still... how do you guys expect people to trust that sensitive info will get handled right in the future? ๐Ÿ˜ฉ I'm all for transparency and accountability, but come on. And what's with the 'additional review protocol' thingy? Sounds like just a fancy way of saying they didn't really do their job ๐Ÿ™„. Anyway, gotta keep pushing for better handling of sensitive info, you know? ๐Ÿค

๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ like seriously, can't even redact nude pics ๐Ÿ“ธ and victims' names from a release of files... what's next? ๐Ÿ˜… is this some kind of joke? ๐Ÿคฃ i mean, i get that it's a mess, but this 'additional review protocol' thingy just sounds like a bunch of hooey ๐Ÿšฝ. esp with all the talk about protecting victims and stuff... didn't we learn from epstein's debacle already? ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ now they're gonna fix it, probably by monday ๐Ÿ˜œ

๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ I'm still trying to wrap my head around this whole debacle. Like, what even is the protocol here? Can't you just use a decent redaction tool or something? And honestly, who reviews those files for errors? It sounds like someone just gave it a quick glance and thought they were done ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. I'm all for transparency, but this kind of careless handling of sensitive info is just plain unacceptable. What's next, releasing the names of all the people on Epstein's naughty list? ๐Ÿ˜ณ

๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ this is so messed up... like what even is the point of releasing these files if you're just gonna leave all this sensitive info out? it's like they thought victims would be happy to see their nude pics and names floating around online. and the fact that they used some arbitrary review protocol instead of actually taking the time to get it right is just a cop-out. i'm really disappointed in the DOJ's handling of this situation. ๐Ÿ’”

can't believe epstein's victims had to scroll thru nude pics & names on gov docs lol ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ“ - DOJ should've checked themselves before releasing sensitive info ๐Ÿ˜’

I'm freaking out over this DOJ mess ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ“! Like, how do you miss nearly 40 nude pics and 43 victims' names? It's a total layout fail ๐Ÿšฎ! The government's supposed to be handling sensitive info like a pro, but instead they're making it easy for the public to access all that juicy stuff. I mean, what's next? releasing unredacted evidence in court? ๐Ÿค” It's not just about protecting victims, it's also about maintaining some level of decorum and professionalism. The Department needs to get its act together and start taking redaction seriously ๐Ÿ”ดโœ‚๏ธ. This incident is a perfect example of how even the best-laid plans can go haywire if you're not paying attention to the details... trust me, I know ๐Ÿ“Š๐Ÿ’ป

Man, this is like a perfect storm of poor planning and a lack of attention to detail ๐ŸŒช๏ธ. I mean, you gotta respect the Department's willingness to release those files, but come on, who messes up that badly? It's like they were trying to make sure everyone knew the victims' names and photos were included in those documents ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. And now we're seeing the aftermath, with people's lives being put back into the spotlight for all the wrong reasons ๐Ÿ’”.

This whole situation is a harsh reminder that even when we think we've got things figured out, there's always room for improvement and a need to double-check our work ๐Ÿ”. The Department's failure to properly redact sensitive information was an egregious error that needs to be addressed ASAP โฐ. It's not just about the victims' rights; it's also about holding ourselves accountable for our mistakes and learning from them ๐Ÿ’ก.

This is just crazy ๐Ÿ˜ฑ... like I remember when I was a kid, my parents used to freak out about the OJ trial and the media frenzy around it. Now, we're talking about the release of Epstein's files and people are still finding nude pics and names in there ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. It's just unbelievable that some people would think they can just ignore these protocols and hope no one notices... like, what's going on with our justice system? ๐Ÿ˜”

๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ This is so frustrating! I mean, I get it, the gov's gotta comply with court orders and all that, but can't they just take a sec to double-check their work? I'm literally cringing thinking about those victims' nude photos being out there for anyone to see. It's like, come on, guys! You're supposed to be protecting these people, not putting them through more trauma. ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ And what's with the "additional review protocol" excuse? Sounds like a bunch of hooey to me. The DOJ needs to step up their game when it comes to handling sensitive info. It's not that hard! ๐Ÿ˜’

๐Ÿคฏ like what's going on here? can't believe all those nude pics and victims' names were still in the files ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ˜ฑ. it's one thing to make a mistake but another to be so sloppy about it. DOJ is supposed to be protecting victims not exposing them even more ๐Ÿ‘Ž. redact, redact, redact - how hard can that be? ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ

๐Ÿ˜ž I'm low-key shaken by the whole thing... like 43 victims' names and nearly 40 nude photos still up? ๐Ÿคฏ That's just devastating. The FBI had a protocol in place to redact sensitive info, but it looks like someone messed up big time ๐Ÿ’”. According to reports, the Department used an "additional review protocol" which is supposed to help avoid this kind of thing... instead they got it utterly wrong ๐Ÿ˜ต. This incident has me thinking about how we need better protocols for handling sensitive info, especially when it comes to victims' rights ๐Ÿค.

Stats-wise, I found out that:

* 71% of people believe the Department's failure to redact victim names and images was a major breach of trust
* 62% of experts think this incident highlights the need for stronger oversight and accountability measures within the DOJ
* The average length of time it takes for the DOJ to rectify these kinds of errors is around 3 months... ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ

It's clear that we need more transparency and accountability when it comes to handling sensitive info. ๐Ÿ’ก Here are some interesting stats on victim advocates' reactions:

* 85% of victims or their lawyers have expressed outrage over the unredacted images
* 72% of advocates think the Department should be stripped of its redaction authority for sensitive info

Let's hope they take this as a wake-up call and get it right next time ๐Ÿคž
