Driver arrested after hitting CPD officer, police say

A Chicago Police Department officer was struck by a car during a traffic stop on Wednesday evening. The incident occurred in the 5700 block of South State Street when the woman driving the vehicle fled north, hitting the officer's foot. A subsequent chase led to her crashing into another SUV in the 2600 block of South State Street.

The suspect, who was accompanied by a passenger, was arrested along with the driver after the crash. The injured officer, whose identity has not been released, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and is listed as being in fair condition.

The woman driving the vehicle is also being held following her arrest. Authorities have yet to release details on charges or citations pending against her.

πŸ˜‚ what's with these traffic stops?! First you're speeding, then you're trying to flee... it's like a bad video game, dude! πŸš—πŸ’¨ Anyway, glad the officer is in fair condition, hope they can still give those parking tickets from the comfort of their hospital bed πŸ˜‚. And poor driver, nice job getting your friend and yourself into an SUV crash, that's some next-level multitasking πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ. Seriously though, just calm down, pull over, and breathe... it's not worth risking someone's life (and possibly a few hundred bucks) πŸ˜….

what's going on here πŸ€”. someone gets hit by a car while doing their job, and now they're holding the driver who got away... sounds like a pretty clear case of reckless driving to me πŸ˜•. i'm glad the officer is okay, but fair condition is still kinda concerning 🀞. how many times do we have to see this kind of thing happen before someone gets held accountable? πŸš”πŸ’¨

πŸ˜• Can you imagine getting hit by a car while just doing your job? I'm thinking about the officer's family right now and hoping they're holding up okay. The fact that the driver fled the scene is super concerning, it's like she didn't care that she'd put someone in harm's way. It's crazy how quickly things escalated from a traffic stop to a high-speed chase.

The US police system can be pretty complicated, but I feel like we need more training on de-escalation techniques and stress management for officers. It's clear that this situation was super stressful for everyone involved. 😬 And it's just another reminder of how fragile life can be in an instant.

It's good to hear the officer is in fair condition, fingers crossed they make a full recovery! 🀞

I just heard about this incident and my heart went out to that officer πŸ€•. You know, I've been following some of their Facebook posts and it's clear they're passionate about keeping the community safe. The fact that this happened during a traffic stop is just crazy - can you imagine being in her shoes? 😱 And then for the suspect to flee like that... what was she thinking?! πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ Anyway, I hope the officer recovers quickly and gets back on their feet soon. It's just one of those things that makes you go "wow" and appreciate the risks they take every day πŸ’ͺ.

just saw this thread from last week lol... can't believe I'm commenting so late! anyway, gotta say, traffic stops gone wrong are super rare in my opinion. I mean, I've seen some crazy stuff on the news, but this one takes the cake. poor officer, though - hope they're feeling better soon 🀞

I was reading about how Chicago has a really high rate of police misconduct cases... not sure if this incident is related or what, but it's making me think that maybe there should be more support for officers who do have bad experiences on the job? just a thought πŸ€”

🚨 just heard about this crazy situation in Chicago... traffic stop gone wrong 😬, officer gets hit by a car and now she's chasing another SUV like that's gonna end well 🀯. I mean, can you imagine being behind the wheel and not even noticing your foot getting smashed? πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ. Glad the officer is okay tho, but still super scary for all those other people on the road πŸš—. And now the suspect is in custody, which is good news... but we gotta wonder what led to her doing that crazy drive away πŸ’β€β™€οΈ. Either way, just another reminder of how unpredictable life can be πŸ€”πŸ’₯.

I saw this news and I gotta say, my heart went out to that police officer πŸ€•πŸ’” Who would've thought that a traffic stop could turn into a real-life action movie? πŸ˜‚ I mean, the suspect really had no choice but to keep running after hitting the officer's foot. It's crazy how quickly things escalated.

As a netizen, I'm always fascinated by these kinds of incidents and how they unfold. The fact that the police officer is in fair condition is definitely a positive note πŸ™ Fingers crossed for their speedy recovery! πŸ’ͺ And yeah, it's also good to see that the suspect and their passenger were arrested too - justice should be served.

I wonder what led up to this traffic stop in the first place... Was there something suspicious about the vehicle or its occupants? πŸ€” Guess we'll have to wait for more info on that. Anyway, glad that the officer is okay! πŸ’•

I'm so sorry to hear about the Chicago Police Department officer who got hit by a car during a traffic stop πŸš¨πŸ’”. It's crazy that the driver fled the scene and led the police on a chase, it's like she didn't even care about anyone else's life πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ. I hope the officer is doing okay and recovering from his injuries soon πŸ™. It just goes to show how unpredictable situations can be and how quickly things can go wrong πŸ’₯. We need to prioritize road safety and look out for each other on the roads, especially when there's a chance of police stops or accidents happening 😬.

OMG, that's crazy!!! 🀯😱 I just can't believe some people don't know how to drive and are so reckless with others' lives! πŸš—πŸ’¨ A traffic stop could've been a normal thing, but noooo... she had to go and speed off like a maniac! 😲 And then putting the officer's foot in harm's way? Unbelievable! 🀯

Anyway, I hope the injured cop recovers soon & gets back on their feet (literally!) πŸ’ͺ🏽. It's good that the other two got caught too. That woman should've been more careful when driving, it's not just about her safety but also others on the road! πŸš—πŸ’₯

omg like what's going on rn i'm shocked 😱 that cop got hit by a car during a traffic stop, but like super glad he's not worse off πŸ™ the chase was crazy tho πŸ‘€ i feel bad for the officer who had to deal with that stress, hope he gets full recovery soon πŸ’ͺ and idk what happened with the lady driving, but she's in trouble now πŸ˜… anyway, just so relieved everything didn't go to worst case scenario πŸ’•

Man... just think about it, a life changing moment that can happen in an instant. One wrong move, one split second decision, and suddenly your world is turned upside down 🀯. That officer's foot was literally the target of a speeding vehicle, and now they're dealing with the aftermath – not just physically, but mentally too. You can only imagine the fear, the pain, the uncertainty of what comes next πŸ’”.

And then there's the driver, who's facing an uncertain future as well. We all make mistakes, we all have bad days, but it takes courage to own up to them and face the consequences 🌟. Maybe this is a wake-up call for both parties – for the officer to appreciate the fragility of life and for the driver to consider the impact her actions can have on others πŸ’ͺ.

We often talk about the importance of empathy in our daily lives, but incidents like these remind us that it's not just about understanding each other – it's about putting ourselves in each other's shoes and feeling what they feel 😊.

πŸ˜’ just heard about this on Twitter and I'm surprised it took them this long to catch up with whoever was speeding πŸš—πŸ’¨ i mean, shouldn't they be doing better than that? especially when you got cops trying to do their job... like what's the point of having a police force if not to keep the roads safe from reckless drivers?!? anyway, glad the officer is okay πŸ™ fingers crossed for a speedy recovery πŸ’ͺ and hopefully the perpetrator will face some consequences for her actions πŸ€”

πŸš¨πŸ’” Oh man, this is some crazy stuff! I'm thinking about that scene from "Drive" where Ryan Gosling's character gets into a car chase and ends up crashing into a bunch of cars... yeah, it was super intense. Anyway, back to this incident - the fact that the woman just took off after hitting the officer's foot is wild. I feel for the cop who got hurt, hope they're feeling better soon! 🀞 It's like, you'd think that would be a no-brainer situation where everyone just calms down and gets out of there... but I guess not. Anyway, at least it was just a foot injury and not worse. Fingers crossed for the cop's full recovery! πŸ™
