A fatal collision claimed the life of a 60-year-old woman, Wendy Davis, who was crossing Broadway in Midtown on Monday night. According to police, Davis was walking in the crosswalk on West 53rd Street when she was struck by a Cadillac XT6 SUV making a left turn from westbound traffic.
The driver, identified as a 61-year-old man, remained at the scene and was not apprehended or charged with any offense. Police stated that Davis had been granted the right of way at the time of the incident.
Davis suffered severe injuries to her head and body and was pronounced deceased at Mount Sinai Hospital shortly after arrival. The victim lived in Forest Hills, according to authorities.
The NYPD reported that this fatal accident is part of a concerning trend, with three pedestrians having lost their lives in traffic crashes within Midtown North Precinct boundaries since January this year. However, the overall number of incidents has decreased slightly, with 895 reported through November 2025 compared to 918 during the same period in 2024.
The investigation into Davis' tragic death continues as police gather more information about the incident.
