Eagles-Cowboys preview: Five things to watch

The Philadelphia Eagles, fresh from a 8-2 start to the season, are set to face off against their divisional rivals, the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys, after an underwhelming 2023 campaign, have made some significant changes, including adding running backs Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders, as well as selecting tackle Tyler Booker in the first round of the draft.

The key matchup for the Eagles will be stopping the Cowboys' ground game, which has been surprisingly effective this season. The Cowboys were ranked 27th in rushing yards per game before their offseason additions and draft picks, but they have managed to find success on the ground despite these changes. Williams has been a standout, ranking fifth in rushing yards league-wide.

However, the Eagles have shown signs of improvement in defending against opposing running attacks, holding each of their last two opponents to under 4 yards per carry. This will be a crucial test for the Cowboys' new additions and the team's overall offense.

The Cowboys' passing game is another area of concern for the Eagles. The team has the No.1 passing offense in the league, led by CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, and tight end Jake Ferguson. Dak Prescott has had a solid season, throwing for 21 touchdowns compared to six interceptions. However, the Eagles' pass defense has been particularly effective lately, with Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean having All-Pro-caliber seasons.

The Eagles' own offense, on the other hand, has struggled in recent weeks, failing to impress against the Giants and Vikings before their bye week. The team's running game was particularly ineffective, with give-up runs to Will Shipley on 3rd and long and basic route concepts that have left fans underwhelmed.

Overall, this matchup between the Eagles and Cowboys is shaping up to be a crucial test of both teams' defenses and offenses. Can the Eagles finally see some spark from their struggling offense, or will the Cowboys continue to thrive behind Prescott's arm?

Ugh, I'm so hyped for this one! 😍 The Eagles have been on fire this season but that new running back Javonte Williams is giving me LIFE 💥 he's like a nightmare to stop and I can already imagine the Eagles' defense having a field day 🤣. But on the other hand, their pass defense has been ON POINT lately 🔒 I'm still salty about those losses to the Giants and Vikings because we were robbed of some big wins 😡. And can we talk about Dak Prescott? The dude is on fire 🔥 I need to see him keep it up against the Eagles' defense or else he'll be having a meltdown 🤦‍♂️. This game has all the makings of an epic battle and I am HERE FOR IT 💖

I'm loving how intense the NFC East is looking right now 🤯! The Cowboys have definitely made some savvy moves in the offseason, adding some talented new pieces to their lineup. But at the same time, I think the Eagles have been doing a great job of adapting and improving their defense - they're really giving these big-name offenses a run for their money. For me, it's all about the quarterback play 🤝. Dak Prescott is on fire right now, but can he lead his team to victory when it matters most? Meanwhile, Jalen Hurts has been having some ups and downs with the Eagles' offense - I'm hoping they start showing some consistency soon! This one's gonna be a wild ride ⚡

im watching these games all season its crazy how one game can change everything the eagles have that cowboy problem on defense quinyon mitchell is a beast 🤯 but i feel like they need some more depth in their pass rush cant keep getting torched by Dak every week. cowboys on the other hand are trying to figure out their identity now that they got those new running backs maybe javonte will be able to give them some consistent yards

Ugh, I'm still tryin' to figure out why the NFL doesn't just play with 6 players on each side like they do in college ball... 🤯 The Eagles' O-line is gettin' destroyed out there and it's like they're runnin' a scripted play every time. Give me some creativity, some trick plays, somethin'! And what's with all the penalties? It's like they can't even run a simple play without gettin' flagged for somethin'. 😒 The Cowboys are lookin' sharp, though. That Prescott guy is on fire and I love seein' that Lamb guy make those crazy catches. 💥

I think the Eagles are gonna need more than just their D-line to take down those Cowboys 🤔💪. I mean, Dak Prescott is on fire right now and CeeDee Lamb is a nightmare to cover 📺👀. The Eagles need to find a way to get some consistent play from their O-line so they can open up some holes for Jontae Williams & Co. 👍 Meanwhile, the Cowboys' addition of new running backs might just give 'em the boost they need to take down Philly 💥

I'm low-key hyped for this game 🤔... The Eagles need to figure out what's going on with their O, they're not getting the consistency I expect from them. If they can finally get that running game clicking, it'll be a huge boost to their overall offense. On the other hand, the Cowboys' passing game is looking legit 🔥... CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott are a dynamic duo for sure. But let's see how their defense holds up against the Eagles' potent pass rush 🤦‍♂️. This one's gonna be a battle 💥!

idk why ppl r so hyped about the cowboys tho... theyre still reeling from last season and juss got lucky w/ those draft picks 🤷‍♂️. the eagles been doin some thing right, defendin against runnin attacks has been solid. dont get me wrong, the cowboys got some new toys but theyre still dependant on dak prescott 2 much... i mean, what happens wen hes havin off days? 🤔

man I'm low-key hyped for this game lol... the cowboys have been on fire but I think the eagles defense is gonna shut 'em down big time they've been looking really solid lately especially against the run which could be a major key in stopping dallas's offense 🤔. and can you imagine quinyon mitchell and cooper dejean getting after cee dee lamb and george pickens on passing plays? that would be insane 😂. but at the same time, the eagles offense has been struggling mightily... maybe they'll get a boost from jalen hurts or who knows maybe they'll finally figure it out 🤞
