Electroconvulsive therapy may have more adverse effects than thought

Wow! 🤯 This is so crazy that they found new adverse effects in people who got ECT... Emotional blunting and heart problems? That's wild. 💔 I'm interesting how some experts say it's still effective but with all these new findings, it's making me wonder if we should be using it more carefully. 🤔

😕 I'm really worried about ECT, it's like they're just trying to treat the symptoms without looking at the root cause of depression 😔. I know some people swear by it, but what if there are more cases of emotional blunting than we know about? 🤯 And arrhythmia is no joke, my heart beats faster just thinking about it 💉. Can't we find other ways to help people that don't involve shocking their brains? 🤷‍♀️

I'm really worried about all these new found effects of ECT, emotional blunting and heart problems are some major concerns 🤕💔. It's true that it can help with severe depression but shouldn't we be focusing on more natural ways to manage mental health first? Like lifestyle changes or therapy? I've heard from friends who've had good experiences with ECT but also had some negative effects afterwards, like memory loss or mood swings 🤯. More research is definitely needed before we start administering it willy-nilly 💡.

idk how can meds not work for people and we try eCT as next option 😕 like what's wrong with meds? are they not working because docs don't know or something? i mean ECT is still good option for ppl who need serious help but why do we have to keep debating about it? shouldnt we be trying to find better ways to treat ppl instead of second guessing things that already work 💔

I'm getting a bit worried about this whole ECT thing 🤕... I mean, on one hand, it's crazy how many people are affected by severe depression and the only option seems to be this controversial treatment. On the other hand, all these new adverse effects being discovered is giving me the chills 😨. Like, arrhythmia? Emotional blunting? That's some serious stuff.

I think we need more research, for sure 📊. Not just about the effectiveness of ECT but also about its long-term risks and benefits. And can we please make sure that patients are fully informed before signing up for it? I mean, it's one thing to know the pros, but another to be aware of the potential cons too.

It's all about finding a balance here 🤝. We need to explore all options to help people with mental health issues, but we also can't just rush into something without making sure it's safe and effective.
