I'm surprised Elon Musk is doing this ... like, he's always talking about making X more transparent, but I never thought he'd actually follow through on it so soon. Can't say I trust his motives though... maybe he just wants to make a good PR move and get some extra developers working for him . Still, I guess this is a step in the right direction, even if we don't know exactly what's going to be released... might as well give people something to scrutinize instead of just claiming transparency .
idk about this open sourcing thing... think it's a power move from musk . making the algorithm source code public is cool and all, but i'm not convinced it'll make that much of a difference. like, what if the code is just a bunch of jumbled noise? we've seen this before with other social media platforms and their "transparency" efforts... they just end up revealing more about how broken they are .
still, gotta give musk props for trying to be more transparent and accountable. it's not like he's got much to lose at this point . but i'm curious to see how this plays out in the long run... will devs actually take a closer look at the code and find ways to improve it? or is this just a PR stunt to get some good press ?
I'm not sure if this is really going to change much... I mean, just because it's open source doesn't mean all the issues are suddenly fixed . What's gonna happen when we actually see those "comprehensive developer notes" that Musk mentioned? Gonna give us any real insight into what's behind the algorithm? And what about the rest of the codebase? We only got the "For You" feed on GitHub, what else is going to be made public? I'm watching this space, but I'm not holding my breath .
