OMG u guys!!!! I'm literally SHAKING right now thinking about Marra's Pizzeria closing its doors after 100 yrs!!! What a loss for South Philly and Italian-American cuisine! The thought of walking into that iconic black-and-white tiled building and not seeing the familiar faces of Salvatore and Chiarina Marra or Mario D'Adamo Jr. is just too much to handle
And can we talk about EMei taking over?! I'm so down for some authentic Szechuan vibes in that historic space, but it's gonna be weird seeing a new face (no pun intended ) in the building where Marra's pizzeria had its heyday. What if they mess up the vibe?!
Dan Tsao better not mess with the menu too much or he'll lose all his Szechuan cred And can we PLEASE get some retro decor?!
I'm sad to see Marra's Pizzeria go, it's been around for so long and was a staple of South Philly . The thought of Dan Tsao bringing Szechuan flavors to E Passyunk Avenue is exciting though, especially with the building being renovated next year . I'm curious to see how EMei will blend old-school charm with modern twists . It's interesting to think about the changes that come with new restaurants and businesses . EPassyunk Avenue has lost a piece of its history, but maybe EMei can help create some new memories for locals and visitors alike .
I gotta say, it's sad to see Marra's Pizzeria go . That place was like an institution in South Philly! 100+ years of serving up some of the best Italian-American grub this side of the Delaware River is no small feat . But on the flip side, I'm stoked that EMei is stepping in with a fresh new vibe . Szechuan cuisine is way underrated, and I'm excited to try some authentic flavors . Can't wait to see what Dan Tsao has in store for us next year! Maybe we'll even get some innovative dishes that blend old-school charm with modern twists . One thing's for sure: E Passyunk Avenue is gonna keep on truckin' no matter who's behind the counter
this is sad news about Marra's Pizzeria closing down after so many years ... it's like losing a part of our history ... I know EMei will try to keep the spirit of the old place alive , but it won't be the same ... I'm excited for takeout and delivery tho ... E Passyunk Avenue is gonna change again soon ... gotta respect the new spot for Szechuan food ... good luck to Dan Tsao and team
Just saw that Marra's Pizzeria is closing down after 100 yrs Still can't believe it, been a staple on E Passyunk Ave for ages... and now some new Szechuan place is taking over Think its gonna be hard to replace the pizza magic they brought to the neighborhood Don't get me wrong, Emei sounds cool and all, but you can't just swap out one iconic spot for another They're gonna have to do a lot more than just keep the menu faithful to make this place special...
