Ex-CPS teacher gets 5 years in prison for exposing himself to young girls

A former Chicago Public Schools teacher has been handed down a five-year prison sentence for his egregious actions involving young girls.

Elliott Nott, now 51 years old, pleaded guilty to two counts of felony child exploitation in October last year. The conviction stems from footage released by the Chicago police department showing Nott exposing himself in front of two underage girls - ages seven and nine - on North Maplewood Avenue in September.

Another incident took place around the same time at a different location, where two young girls witnessed 10-year-old and five-year-old children seeing him wearing only a sweatshirt with his private parts exposed.

In October last year, Nott was caught after he "performed an indecent act" in front of these children in this area.

Judge Domenica Stephenson subsequently sentenced Nott to concurrent five-year prison terms after his plea. However, due to state law, the sentence will be reduced by half - from 5 years to 2.5 years. The reduction also includes a deduction of 475 days as he spent time in jail while awaiting trial and earned additional credits for being part of a program.

In 2019, Nott was given two years of probation after pleading guilty to the crime of hiding cameras at Ogden Elementary School where he taught music. Following this incident, Chicago Public Schools fired him after a camera was discovered at staff bathroom and footage recovered, which included footage from several staff members as well as an eight-year-old child.

🤕 can't believe how lenient the sentence is considering what that dude did to those kids. 2.5 years is way too short for someone who has a history of committing this kind of heinous act. I mean, come on, two kids were basically forced to watch him expose himself in front of them! How could anyone justify such behavior? 🚫 it's like the system is just letting these monsters off with a slap on the wrist. and what really gets me is that he was given a second chance after pleading guilty to hiding cameras at his school... 2 years of probation, then this happens, and suddenly we're talking 5-year prison sentence?! it doesn't add up 🤔

😩 This is just so messed up I cant even believe some people can be that cruel & I feel bad for those little girls who had to witness this... like what was he thinking? 🤯 And the fact that he got off with only 2.5 years is still way too much, in my opinion. 🙄 He should've gotten a life sentence or something. And it's crazy that he did this all while pretending to be some kinda "cool teacher" who taught music... I mean, what kind of sick person does that? 😷

omg that's so disturbing 🤯 he's lucky to get half the time considering what he did to those poor kids... like who exposes themselves in front of 7 & 9 year olds? and that's not even mentioning the other incident where he was wearing no clothes in front of younger kids... anyway, i feel bad for the victims and their families but i also think it's kinda harsh that he only gets 2.5 years instead of a longer sentence like 10 years or something... did anyone else see those news clips? 📺

Man that's so messed up 🤯. Five years is still way too long for someone who exposed himself to kids, but I guess 2.5 years is better than nothing. It's crazy how he was able to get away with some pretty serious stuff back in 2019 and didn't even lose his teaching job at first... like, what was Chicago Public Schools thinking? 🤔 Now they know the score and he got fired for good. But still, two little girls seeing him like that is just traumatising 😢. It's a shame more wasn't done to protect those kids sooner. And now Elliott Nott gets to serve half his sentence in prison while still on probation? That doesn't seem right...

This is just so messed up 🤯! I mean, five years of a hard slap on the wrist for these crimes? Two and half years? That's not justice, it feels like a joke 😂. What kind of system allows someone to do this to those innocent kids and only gets them two and a half years? It's just not fair. I feel so bad for the families of the little girls who had to go through this trauma. They deserved better than what they got 💔. And you know, it's not like he was some kind of hero or role model in his school either 🙅‍♂️. He's a monster and should be behind bars for way longer.

this is so disturbing 🤯, i mean can you even imagine what those kids went through witnessing some stranger expose himself in front of them? it's like, how do they ever be able to look at boys or men the same way again? and for someone who was supposed to be a role model in a school setting, i feel bad for those kids more than anything. it just goes to show that even with laws on the books, there are still people out there who think they're above them 🙄. and what really gets me is that he's only getting 2.5 years, considering what he put those kids through... i wish society would rethink its leniency towards pedophiles 🤷‍♀️

🤕 This case is absolutely appalling, and I'm still trying to wrap my head around the sheer audacity of Elliott Nott's actions. The fact that he was able to target two young girls, ages seven and nine, in such a manner is just devastating. His abuse of power as a teacher, combined with his blatant disregard for consent, makes him a reprehensible individual.

It's disheartening to see that even after serving time for hiding cameras at Ogden Elementary School, he was still allowed to walk free – albeit on probation – until this latest incident. The reduction in sentence is quite underwhelming considering the severity of his crimes. I worry about the impact this may have on the victims and their families. The need for stricter accountability and harsher penalties for predators like Nott cannot be overstated 🚫💔
