A former Chicago Public Schools teacher has been handed down a five-year prison sentence for his egregious actions involving young girls.
Elliott Nott, now 51 years old, pleaded guilty to two counts of felony child exploitation in October last year. The conviction stems from footage released by the Chicago police department showing Nott exposing himself in front of two underage girls - ages seven and nine - on North Maplewood Avenue in September.
Another incident took place around the same time at a different location, where two young girls witnessed 10-year-old and five-year-old children seeing him wearing only a sweatshirt with his private parts exposed.
In October last year, Nott was caught after he "performed an indecent act" in front of these children in this area.
Judge Domenica Stephenson subsequently sentenced Nott to concurrent five-year prison terms after his plea. However, due to state law, the sentence will be reduced by half - from 5 years to 2.5 years. The reduction also includes a deduction of 475 days as he spent time in jail while awaiting trial and earned additional credits for being part of a program.
In 2019, Nott was given two years of probation after pleading guilty to the crime of hiding cameras at Ogden Elementary School where he taught music. Following this incident, Chicago Public Schools fired him after a camera was discovered at staff bathroom and footage recovered, which included footage from several staff members as well as an eight-year-old child.
