Fast-casual chain Sweetgreen readies first Detroit location - Detroit Metro Times

Sweetgreen, a popular fast-casual chain known for its fresh salads and bowls, is set to expand into the Motor City with its first-ever Detroit location in downtown. The new site will be situated at One Campus Martius building and marks Sweetgreen's sixth location in Michigan.

According to Chris Tarrant, Chief Development Officer at Sweetgreen, "Detroit has an undeniable momentum right now, and we're honored to be part of it." The chain is excited to bring its concept of fresh, real food to the heart of downtown Detroit. This move not only signals Sweetgreen's commitment to the city but also highlights its partnership with local suppliers such as Zingerman's Creamery and Riverridge Produce.

To celebrate its grand opening on Tuesday, December 9th, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sweetgreen plans an event featuring local collaborations. Bon Bon Bon will be showcasing their sweet treats, while Earthy Botanical Mobile Bar will provide warm drinks. Additionally, live screen printing by One Custom City will be available.

As part of the grand opening festivities, Sweetgreen has pledged to donate one meal for every meal sold during this period to Detroit's Forgotten Harvest charity. This charitable effort reinforces the chain's commitment to making a positive impact in its community.

The new Detroit location joins existing Michigan locations in Ann Arbor, Arbor Hills, Birmingham, Rochester Hills, and Troy. With this expansion, Sweetgreen solidifies its presence in the state and continues to expand its network of fresh food options for locals and visitors alike.

Just think about it, a popular chain like Sweetgreen expanding into Detroit, what does that say about our society? We're always talking about community and supporting local businesses, but do we really put our money where our mouth is? I mean, Sweetgreen is investing in the city, creating jobs, and collaborating with local suppliers... that's some real civic pride 🀝. And let's not forget their charitable initiative, donating meals to those in need... it's a small gesture, but it shows they care about the people who are already living here. Maybe this is a sign that we're finally coming together as a community? πŸ’–
