FBI Says DC Pipe Bomb Suspect Brian Cole Kept Buying Bomb Parts After January 6

Federal agents have finally cracked the case of the pipe bombs planted near the US Capitol complex on January 5, 2021. Brian J. Cole Jr., a 30-year-old resident of Woodbridge, Virginia, was arrested and charged with transporting an explosive device across state lines with the intent to kill, injure, intimidate, or destroy property.

The case had been shrouded in mystery for nearly five years, leaving investigators stumped. However, through a combination of surveillance footage, historical cell-site data, and purchase records, agents linked Cole to the bombs through a series of purchases made at various hardware stores in northern Virginia between 2019 and 2020.

Cole continued buying components used in bomb-making after his devices were discovered, including a white kitchen timer and galvanized pipes from Home Depot. The FBI alleges that he acquired these items across multiple locations in an attempt to construct the pipe bombs.

The arrest has been hailed as a major breakthrough by senior Trump administration officials, who claim the case had gone cold under previous leadership. Attorney General Pam Bondi described the arrest as "vindication" of her office's efforts, stating that she hoped it would restore public trust following what she characterized as a "total lack of movement" on the case.

The FBI has consistently stated that the devices built from threaded metal pipe, kitchen timer, and homemade black powder were "viable" and could have been lethal. However, it remains unclear whether they would have detonated absent intervention.

The discovery of the bombs on January 5, 2021, added to the chaos and confusion unfolding as a pro-Trump mob stormed the US Capitol building. Both devices failed to detonate, but their presence led to extensive security breaches and millions of dollars in damage.

Identifying the January 6 pipe-bomber had become an obsession among Trump's MAGA base in recent years. Far-right media outlet The Blaze, founded by Glenn Beck, recently claimed that Cole was a former Capitol Police officer based on his walking analysis. However, Bongino dismissed these allegations as "grossly inaccurate."

The arrest has sparked controversy once again, with many far-right figures speculating that Cole was a member of the anti-fascist group Antifa. Others remain skeptical, questioning whether the FBI had arrested the right person.

Cole's arrest marks a significant victory for law enforcement and serves as a reminder that even in cases where progress seemed stalled, persistence and determination can lead to justice.

Wow ๐Ÿ˜ฒ The pipe bomb case was super mysterious for ages ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ I wonder how they finally got the clues together ๐Ÿ’ก it's wild that Cole kept buying bomb-making stuff even after his devices were found ๐Ÿคฏ those FBI agents must be total pros ๐Ÿ”

so I'm reading about this guy Brian Cole Jr who got caught with pipe bombs near the US Capitol building back in 2021. it's crazy how the FBI kept working on this case for years after everyone else had given up ๐Ÿคฏ. apparently he bought some stuff from Home Depot to make the bombs and they thought he was planning to use them, but luckily they didn't explode.

I don't really get why people are still speculating about Cole being with Antifa though? I mean I know it's a contentious topic, but can we please not jump to conclusions without all the facts ๐Ÿ™„. And what's up with the conspiracy theories that he was actually a Capitol Police officer? sounds like a wild goose chase to me ๐Ÿฆ†.

Anyway, glad that Cole got caught and justice was served. it's always frustrating when these types of cases drag on for years, but I guess persistence pays off in the end ๐Ÿ’ช.

man... this is crazy ๐Ÿคฏ finally figuring out who was behind those pipe bombs near the Capitol last year... it's wild how some ppl thought Cole was a former cop lol what if he was actually an Antifa guy though? idk, still kinda weird that he kept buying bomb-making stuff after they found the devices first time. FBI saying they're "viable" is pretty scary tho, hope nobody got hurt in the chaos ๐Ÿ™ at least it's over now, and good for law enforcement being able to crack the case ๐Ÿ’ช

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this whole thing ๐Ÿคฏ I mean, it's crazy to think that those pipe bombs were just sitting there, ready to go off, for like 5 whole years without anyone knowing who was behind them ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ It's a major relief that Cole got caught and the FBI was able to crack the case. But at the same time, it's unsettling to think about how close we came to something really bad happening ๐Ÿ’ฅ And yeah, I'm still trying to get over the whole Antifa thing... I mean, come on, just because someone might fit some profile doesn't mean they're automatically part of a specific group ๐Ÿ™„ Anyway, glad that law enforcement was able to stay on it and bring Cole in. It's definitely a reminder that persistence is key ๐Ÿ”

I cant believe how this whole situation has played out... ๐Ÿคฏ The fact that it took 5 years to catch the guy who tried to blow up the Capitol is just mind-blowing. And all these people thinking Cole was an Antifa member? Get a grip, folks. It's just a wild goose chase at this point. I mean, can't we just focus on the case at hand instead of spreading conspiracy theories like it's going out of style?

And what's with all the Trump administration officials being so eager to take credit for something that's pretty much basic detective work? I get it, you wanna be seen as heroes, but come on. This isn't a miracle cure for the FBI's failures, just a case of some decent sleuthing and a bit of luck.

It's also kinda gross that people are making this whole thing out to be some kind of vindication for Pam Bondi's office. Like, yeah, good job guys, you managed to solve a case after 5 years of doing nothing on it. How about focusing on the actual work instead of trying to politicize it?

I'm glad to see some real action on this pipe bomb case ๐Ÿ™Œ. Five years is way too long to be stuck on something like this, and I'm relieved that Cole's been caught. The fact that he was buying up bomb-making supplies after the devices were already found in January 2021 is just crazy ๐Ÿคฏ. It's a good thing his attempts didn't work out, or we could've had a lot more damage done.

I feel bad for the investigators who'd been working on this case all these years - they must have been really frustrated ๐Ÿ˜ฉ. But it's awesome that persistence and determination paid off in the end. I'm not surprised the Trump admin is trying to make a big deal out of this, though - it's a good PR move ๐Ÿ™„. Still, it's more important that Cole gets justice and we can all feel safer knowing someone like him won't be causing harm again ๐Ÿ’ช.

omg what a massive waste of time & resources this whole ordeal has been ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ i mean think about it, these pipe bombs were literally just gonna blow up anywhere near the capitol and now we're spending yrs investigating who made 'em lol idk why we need to know every single person who bought galvanized pipes from home depot in 2020. this guy's been on a wild goose chase for years & now he gets busted for trying to make some pipe bombs ๐Ÿšฝโ€โ™‚๏ธ but still, it's kinda weird that they were able to catch him so late... maybe the whole thing was just a smokescreen? anyway, glad someone finally got caught, i guess.

๐Ÿšจ The whole thing is just wild ๐Ÿคฏ. Like I get it, people wanted answers about who was behind those pipe bombs, but this case has been on for ages & everyone's still trying to piece together the puzzle ๐Ÿงฉ. And now we know that this Cole guy was buying parts for bomb-making at Home Depot ๐Ÿ›๏ธ? That's just crazy ๐Ÿคฏ.

I'm not saying it's some kind of mastermind plot, but what really gets me is how far-right folks are still trying to spin this as an anti-fascist thing ๐Ÿค”. Like, come on guys, let's just stick to the facts for once ๐Ÿ’ก. We all know there were people involved in that whole January 6th mess & now we've got a suspect who could've potentially caused real harm ๐Ÿ”ซ.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that this arrest might be a big deal for law enforcement, but it's also a reminder of how quickly misinformation can spread ๐Ÿšจ. It's wild that even after all these years, people are still speculating about Cole's past & connections ๐Ÿค”. Maybe we should just focus on the fact that justice was served โœ…?

๐Ÿค” so it's crazy to think about how much time passed before they finally figured out who planted them pipe bombs near the Capitol back in 2021... five years is forever! I'm glad they were able to crack the case, but I have to wonder what was going on in Cole's mind - buying all those bomb-making materials without anyone noticing? And the fact that he kept doing it after his devices were already found is just weird. ๐Ÿคฏ

It's also pretty interesting how this whole thing has become a bit of a conspiracy theory fest, with some people speculating that Cole was part of Antifa or something like that... like, come on guys, let's not jump to conclusions just yet! ๐Ÿ˜… The FBI did their job and now justice has been served.

I do think it's cool that the Attorney General is getting all this vindication, though - it's about time someone got recognition for working hard on a case. And yeah, this definitely marks a major win for law enforcement... who knows what other cases are just waiting to be solved? ๐Ÿ’ช

๐Ÿค” so now they got the guy who planted them pipe bombs near the capitol building 5 years ago... it's crazy how long this case had been going on and nobody could figure out who did it ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ it just goes to show that law enforcement can crack even the toughest cases if they keep pushing forward ๐Ÿ’ช

but what really gets me is how some people are speculating that Cole was a member of Antifa or something like that ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ I mean, come on folks, let's not jump to conclusions just yet โš ๏ธ the FBI said it themselves that Cole bought parts for bomb-making at multiple hardware stores in northern VA between 2019-2020 ๐Ÿ”

and yeah, it is vindicating for AG Pam Bondi and all that ๐Ÿ™Œ but what about the people who were hurt or scared during that whole January 5 thing? ๐Ÿ’” shouldn't we be focusing on making sure something like that never happens again? ๐Ÿค

I'm shocked they finally caught this guy! It's been ages since this case went down and people were still speculating about who was behind it ๐Ÿคฏ. I mean, the FBI had to dig through all that surveillance footage and historical data just to link Cole to the bombs - impressive work, I guess ๐Ÿ˜Š. But what really gets me is how some far-right figures are trying to spin this as a win for Antifa... come on guys, not buying it ๐Ÿ™„. I'm glad justice was served, but let's not try to rewrite history here. The fact remains that Cole attempted to make pipe bombs and put them near the Capitol - that's a serious crime and should be treated as such ๐Ÿ’ฅ.

๐Ÿค” I'm glad they finally caught this guy, it's crazy how long it took them to crack the case... 5 years is a looong time to be stuck on one investigation. I feel bad for the people who were affected by those pipe bombs, like the Capitol building and all the officers who had to deal with the chaos. It's wild that some people are still speculating about Cole's background and whether he was part of Antifa or not... it just adds to the drama ๐Ÿคฏ And can we talk about how some far-right media outlets are just spreading misinformation? Like, come on Glenn Beck and others, get your facts straight before you start spreading rumors ๐Ÿ™„

๐Ÿ’ก So I guess it's kinda wild how this whole case went cold under previous leadership but suddenly got solved when the new people took over ๐Ÿค”. It just goes to show that even though progress seems stuck sometimes, we shouldn't give up hope. I mean, think about it, if they didn't crack this case years ago, who knows what could've happened? Thankfully Cole was caught and brought to justice ๐Ÿ’ฅ. Now let's focus on keeping our communities safe rather than jumping to conclusions about the person behind the pipe bombs ๐Ÿค.

omg I'm so glad they finally caught this guy his whole pipe bomb thing was just crazy like how did he manage to buy all those bomb-making components without anyone noticing? ๐Ÿคฏ and the fact that some ppl were speculating he was an antifa member is just wild like, what's next? people thinking the jan 6th rioters were from antifa too lol anyway, I think it's great that the FBI worked so hard to crack this case and I'm glad no one got hurt by those bombs ๐Ÿ™

the whole story is kinda like life itself - we think we know where things are going, but they just keep unfolding ๐Ÿคฏ... I mean, who would've thought it'd take almost 5 years for someone's pipe bomb plot to get cracked? it's a bit unnerving thinking about how much time and energy went into keeping an eye on Cole, just waiting for him to slip up. what does that say about our society, tho? are we always watching each other, waiting for the next potential threat? ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ it's like, can't we just live in the moment without all this surveillance and suspicion?

OMG ๐Ÿคฏ this is wild! I'm low-key glad they finally caught someone but high-key confused how it took 5 whole years ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ. Like what's up with the whole Antifa thing tho? ๐Ÿค” I know some people are saying that Cole was a member, but others are like "no way" ๐Ÿ˜’. And can we talk about how much drama is coming from the MAGA base? ๐Ÿ˜‚ It's like they're trying to turn this into a conspiracy theory fest ๐Ÿคฃ. But for real, it's good that law enforcement was able to crack the case and bring Cole in ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ. This is def a major win and I'm so here for it ๐Ÿ’ช.

OMG u gotta b like Cole didnt just waltz into ths whole thing by his lonesome lol idk how much time these agents spent but I guess all dat surveilance footage & whatnot helped 2 crack the case! I mean, its sus that he kept buying bomb-making components even after they found out about the bombs 1st tho lol what was he thinking?! Anyways, glad 2 see some justice served but honestly, its kinda weird how far-right ppl are speculating Cole was part of Antifa wut a wild theory lol

I donโ€™t usually comment but I have to say this case is so frustrating ๐Ÿคฏ. Five years of waiting for answers and now we finally get some closure. It's crazy how much drama was surrounding this guy being a former Capitol Police officer or an Antifa member... like, what's the point of speculating when the facts are out already? ๐Ÿ™„ And I'm just glad no one got hurt (although millions of dollars in damage is still a thing). The whole situation with the pipe bombs on January 5th was super scary and chaotic, so it's good that we can finally look back and say "oh yeah, this guy was behind it all". It's like, finally some justice after all this time ๐Ÿ˜Œ.

๐Ÿค” idk how long it took them to get this guy but like yeah good job on finally solving the case i mean its crazy to think about how much time went by and everyone was just wondering what happened its been 5 years lol anyways glad they were able to catch him and hopefully he makes a good plea deal
