I'm loving how YA lit is tackling some heavy stuff right now... Songlight is like, whoa, it's so easy to get sucked into that world of persecution and prejudice, but at the same time, Moira Buffini's writing is just masterful. The way she weaves together multiple narratives is like a masterclass in storytelling. And then you have We Are Your Children, which is like, heartbreakingly powerful... David Roberts' artwork is insane! It's crazy how much impact one book can have on your perspective, and this one definitely left me feeling seen.
But what I think is really cool about these five books is how they're all tackling different aspects of resilience and survival. Like, No Refuge is all about the struggle to stay alive in a war-torn world, while What Happens Online is like, exploring the complexities of online relationships and self-esteem... it's like, these books are speaking to different parts of our lives that we might not even know were struggling.
And can we talk about Feminist History for Every Day of the Year? Like, I've never seen anything like it. Kate Mosse's research is so thorough, and she's got this way of making history feel accessible and relatable... it's like, I felt like I was learning something new every day. These books are just a reminder that there's always more to learn, and that we can find inspiration in the most unexpected places.
