Frank Sinatra Musical to Make West End Premiere This Summer
Legendary crooner Frank Sinatra's life and career are set to be celebrated on stage in the West End. "Sinatra The Musical," which played a sold-out run at Birmingham Rep in 2023, will make its London debut at the Aldwych Theatre this summer, with performances beginning June 3.
The musical tells the story of Sinatra's rapid ascent to stardom, his marriage to Nancy Sinatra, and his tumultuous affair with Ava Gardner. The narrative opens on New Year’s Eve 1942, as a 27-year-old Sinatra prepares to take the stage at New York’s Paramount Theatre for a career-defining performance. From there, the story follows his journey to stardom, marked by both triumphs and setbacks.
At the heart of the musical are more than 20 signature songs from Sinatra's catalog, including "That’s Life," "One For My Baby," "The Best Is Yet to Come" and "Come Fly With Me." The show will feature a 17-piece orchestra supervised by Gareth Valentine, with set design by Peter McKintosh and choreography by Kathleen Marshall.
Tina Sinatra has praised her father's songwriting process, saying he was not just singing songs, but recording an emotional diary of his life. This classic style is reflected in the musical, which aims to reveal a more revealing portrait than ever told about the legendary crooner.
The production marks the first in a series of projects developed by Frank Sinatra Enterprises in partnership with Universal Music Group to introduce new audiences to Sinatra's musical legacy. With its talented creative team and extensive set list, "Sinatra The Musical" is sure to be a must-see for fans of the music legend. Booking is currently open through April 10, 2027.
