Gervonta Davis, the WBA lightweight champion, has been arrested in Miami after a two-week search. The 31-year-old American boxer is facing charges of false imprisonment, battery and attempted kidnapping, relating to an incident in October that allegedly involved his ex-girlfriend Courtney Rossel.
According to Miami Gardens Police, Davis was arrested on Wednesday with bail set at $16,000 (£11,500). The police had issued a warrant against him earlier this month after obtaining video surveillance footage that corroborated key elements of the victim's statement.
Davis is also facing a civil lawsuit filed by Rossel in October, which accuses him of battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The lawsuit seeks compensatory and punitive damages of over $50,000 (around £38,100) and has requested a jury trial.
The boxer's career has been marred by controversy, including another ex-girlfriend dropping a domestic violence case against him six months ago. He was also arrested on battery domestic violence charges in February 2020 and December 2022.

its not like he got off scot free back in feb 2020 or dec 2022 when he was arrested for battery domestic violence charges and somehow managed to get away with it
