'Gettysburg 1863' movie crew spotted filming on location in Pennsylvania

Crew of 'Gettysburg 1863' Movie Spotted Filming in Pennsylvania

Filming for the upcoming movie "Gettysburg 1863" has been underway in Pennsylvania, with the cast and crew spotted at historic sites across the state. The independent film, which tells the story of the pivotal Union victory, has been filming on location since last fall.

At the Shriver House Museum, Confederate Army sharpshooters once occupied the space during the battle. Recently, the museum lit its original gas lamp for the first time in over 100 years to bring the setting to life for the film crew. Similarly, the Dobbin House Tavern, which was a stop on the Underground Railroad and served as a field hospital during the war, had its parlor and study cleared for "the shooting of several scenes" last week.

A behind-the-scenes video shared by the Gettysburg Film Commission shows the Hartzell Supply Yard crew covering a downtown street in dirt to recreate the unpaved roads of 1863. This level of detail is evident across various locations, with the production team working hard to bring the past to life for the film.

The cast includes Stephen Lang, who played Major Walter H. Taylor in the 1993 "Gettysburg" film and will reprise this role in "Gettysburg 1863." He stars alongside Bruce Boxleitner ("Tron"), Samuel Roukin ("Turn: Washington's Spies"), Alfonso Freeman (son of Morgan Freeman), and Bo Brinkman, the writer-director who also appeared in the original film.

Filming for "Gettysburg 1863" is expected to wrap up soon, with the movie set to premiere in theaters by late 2026.

It's clear they're committed to bringing the past to life for this film. And can we talk about the cast? I love that Stephen Lang is back on board as Major Taylor - he's such a talented actor 🀩! And Bruce Boxleitner, Samuel Roukin, Alfonso Freeman, and Bo Brinkman are all amazing in their own right too 🌟. Fingers crossed they can get the premiere just in time for the actual anniversary of Gettysburg - would be a total game-changer πŸŽ‰!

Man, I'm so stoked that they're bringing this period to life on screen again! It's cool to see Stephen Lang reprising his role as Major Taylor too! I mean, who wouldn't want to see him on screen again? πŸŽ₯πŸ‘ But what's with the slow pace of production though? 2026 feels like ages away from now... Can't we just fast forward and get our Gettysburg fix already? πŸ˜…

just saw this news about the 'Gettysburg 1863' movie filming in PA πŸ›οΈπŸŽ¬ and I'm loving how much detail they're putting into bringing history to life on screen! πŸ‘ especially since some of these locations have been untouched for so long, like that Shriver House Museum's gas lamp being lit again after over 100 yrs ⚑️ it's crazy thinking about all the memories being recreated there... 🀯 can't wait to see how it all comes together in 2026! πŸŽ₯

πŸ€” I don't get why they need so many locations and costumes, can't they just film it in a studio or something? I mean, I know the historical accuracy thing is important, but do we really need to recreate every single detail of the battle? It's like they're trying to win an award for "most elaborate reenactment" πŸ†. And what's up with all these A-list actors? Can't some up-and-coming talent get a chance to shine?

πŸŽ₯ just thinking about all the historical accuracy these filmmakers are going for is super impressive. I mean, they're not just filming some generic battle scenes, they're recreating entire locations from the Civil War era... it's crazy how much detail goes into something like that. And can you imagine being a part of this crew, seeing those historic sites come to life again? It gives me goosebumps just thinking about it πŸ•ŠοΈ

omg 🀯 I'm so stoked they're filming on location! The level of detail they're putting into recreating 1863 is insane πŸ”₯. Like, whoa! From lighting up that gas lamp at the Shriver House Museum to covering a downtown street in dirt – it's all about authenticity here. And can we talk about the cast? Stephen Lang reprising his role as Major Taylor is a no-brainer πŸ™Œ. The whole production team must be working their magic to get this movie just right. I'm literally counting down the days until 2026 when it hits theaters πŸ‘.

I just love how much effort the filmmakers are putting into recreating the setting for this movie 🎬. I mean, they're literally recreating the unpaved roads and even lighting up old gas lamps to bring it all back to life! It's so cool that they're using real historic sites like the Shriver House Museum and Dobbin House Tavern to film on location too. And can you believe they've got some awesome cast members lined up, including Stephen Lang reprising his role from the original "Gettysburg" film? πŸŽ₯

I'm so excited about this new movie, I've been waiting for what feels like forever to see a film that gets the history of Gettysburg right 🀞! As a parent, it's always great to see stories being told that are educational and respectful at the same time. The attention to detail in these locations is just amazing - it really brings the past to life. I love how they're including some of the lesser-known historical sites too, like the Dobbin House Tavern. It's not just about the big battles, but also about the people and places that made a difference during that time period 🌟. I'm curious to see how it all comes together on screen...

OMG I'm so down for this new movie, a historical drama about Gettysburg 1863!!! πŸŽ₯πŸ‘ The attention to detail is insane, I love how they're recreating historic sites and even lighting up old lamps to set the mood. I've always been fascinated by the American Civil War era, it's so rich in history and stories to be told. As a student of history, I'm excited to see how accurate the film will be πŸ€”. Stephen Lang is casting a spell as Major Walter H. Taylor, I need to read more about him now. The cast looks amazing too, with Bruce Boxleitner and Alfonso Freeman on board, this movie's gonna be EPIC!!!

idk why people still make movies about old wars like that but i guess its cool how they're trying to recreate everything so it feels real πŸ€”. just hope they don't mess it up too much or they'll have some salty fans complaining online πŸ˜’. also, samuel roukin from turn looks so out of place in a historical setting lol, what's he even doing there? should be more actors from the era if you ask me πŸ‘€

I'm loving how they're going all out with this film! I mean, dirt on the streets and historic sites being lit up like it's the first time in a century... it's just so cool! My grandpa used to tell me stories about his great-uncle who fought in the war, and it's amazing to see these locations coming back to life for this movie. I'm a bit sad that they're wrapping up filming soon, but at least we get to see it on screen by next year πŸŽ₯.

omg can't believe how much effort they're putting into recreating the Gettysburg battlefield and surrounding areas for this new movie 🀯 just thinking about it gives me goosebumps... love that Stephen Lang is reprising his role as Major Taylor, really adds to the authenticity of the film... also a bit surprised Alfonso Freeman is involved in the cast, his dad's Morgan Freeman 😎

πŸŽ₯ just saw this behind-the-scenes vid of crew filming at Shriver House Museum and I'm low-key hyped for this new 'Gettysburg 1863' movie πŸ€” they're literally recreating everything from the original battle, including the gas lamps! πŸ•―οΈ it's gonna be so immersive. Can't wait for the premiere in '26, mark my words, it's gonna break box office records πŸ’Έ

I'm so excited about this new movie! My kid loves history and I can already imagine how cool it'll be to watch a film that's based on such an important event. πŸŽ₯ It's awesome that they're using real locations and recreating the look and feel of what life was like back then. My son is really into the American Civil War era, so this will definitely be something he'll want to see when it comes out!

The attention to detail in the filming process is impressive - I mean, who knew that a gas lamp could bring a whole new level of authenticity to a film? 😊 I'm glad they're taking their time to get everything just right. It's clear that the production team really cares about getting this story right.

I do wish there was more representation in the cast, though - it would have been nice to see some more diverse faces on screen. But overall, I'm super stoked for this movie and can't wait to take my kids to see it when it comes out! πŸ‘
