Crew of 'Gettysburg 1863' Movie Spotted Filming in Pennsylvania
Filming for the upcoming movie "Gettysburg 1863" has been underway in Pennsylvania, with the cast and crew spotted at historic sites across the state. The independent film, which tells the story of the pivotal Union victory, has been filming on location since last fall.
At the Shriver House Museum, Confederate Army sharpshooters once occupied the space during the battle. Recently, the museum lit its original gas lamp for the first time in over 100 years to bring the setting to life for the film crew. Similarly, the Dobbin House Tavern, which was a stop on the Underground Railroad and served as a field hospital during the war, had its parlor and study cleared for "the shooting of several scenes" last week.
A behind-the-scenes video shared by the Gettysburg Film Commission shows the Hartzell Supply Yard crew covering a downtown street in dirt to recreate the unpaved roads of 1863. This level of detail is evident across various locations, with the production team working hard to bring the past to life for the film.
The cast includes Stephen Lang, who played Major Walter H. Taylor in the 1993 "Gettysburg" film and will reprise this role in "Gettysburg 1863." He stars alongside Bruce Boxleitner ("Tron"), Samuel Roukin ("Turn: Washington's Spies"), Alfonso Freeman (son of Morgan Freeman), and Bo Brinkman, the writer-director who also appeared in the original film.

It's clear they're committed to bringing the past to life for this film. And can we talk about the cast? I love that Stephen Lang is back on board as Major Taylor - he's such a talented actor

. Fingers crossed they can get the premiere just in time for the actual anniversary of Gettysburg - would be a total game-changer

But what's with the slow pace of production though? 2026 feels like ages away from now... Can't we just fast forward and get our Gettysburg fix already? 
it's gonna be sick to see gettysburg come to life on the big screen. love how they're getting all the details right, like lighting up the shriver house museum's gas lamp again. can't wait to see stephen lang back as major taylor, he was awesome in the 1993 version 
and having bruce boxleitner alongside him is gonna be a great combo. hope it premieres soon tho, been waiting for like, forever

I don't get why they need so many locations and costumes, can't they just film it in a studio or something? I mean, I know the historical accuracy thing is important, but do we really need to recreate every single detail of the battle? It's like they're trying to win an award for "most elaborate reenactment" 
. And what's up with all these A-list actors? Can't some up-and-coming talent get a chance to shine?

. also, samuel roukin from turn looks so out of place in a historical setting lol, what's he even doing there? should be more actors from the era if you ask me
