Gold Bar Bob Menendez acted against Americans to help cover up Khashoggi’s murder

Bob Menendez, a Democrat senator from New Jersey, played a pivotal role in covering up the 2018 murder of Jamal Khashoggi, a Washington Post journalist who was a vocal critic of the Egyptian government.

Menendez's alleged involvement in the cover-up is revealed in "Gold Bar Bob: The Downfall of the Most Corrupt U.S. Senator," a new book co-authored by Thomas Jason Anderson and Isabel Vincent. According to the book, Menendez acted as a "mob boss" for New Jersey and worked with Egyptian officials to conceal their role in Khashoggi's murder.

The Egyptian government had significant motive to silence Khashoggi, who had been critical of their human rights record and the Muslim Brotherhood. The Egyptians were also under pressure from Western countries due to their long history of alleged human rights abuses. Menendez, as head of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, was instrumental in shielding Egypt from consequences.

The book claims that Menendez facilitated Egyptian officials' role in the murder by providing them with intelligence related to US embassy personnel in Cairo. He also worked to remove sanctions on Egypt and assured Egyptian officials that he had done so. Just months later, Khashoggi was killed.

Menendez's actions were designed to protect Egyptian interests, allowing them to sell weapons to Saudi Arabia while avoiding American sanctions. The move not only advanced Egypt's regional influence but also enabled them to sell arms to Russia during the Ukraine conflict.

The author argues that Menendez's involvement in covering up Khashoggi's murder was a "con job" that fooled the media and the public. The book calls for re-examining Menendez's actions as Senate Foreign Relations Committee chairman, citing high stakes for global diplomacy, intelligence, alliances, and human rights standards.

Menendez is currently serving an 11-year prison sentence for bribery and other felonies. His alleged role in covering up Khashoggi's murder raises serious questions about the credibility of the US government and its handling of intelligence, alliances, and foreign policy.

I just read this crazy story about Bob Menendez and I'm still trying to wrap my head around it 🤯📰. So, like, he was a senator from New Jersey who allegedly helped cover up the murder of this journalist, Jamal Khashoggi, who was totally critical of Egypt's government. And Menendez was like the "mob boss" for New Jersey or something? I don't get how that works, but apparently he worked with Egyptian officials to keep them from getting in trouble.

It's wild because this guy was basically doing all these shady things just to protect Egypt and help them sell arms to other countries. And now he's paying the price, literally – he's in prison for 11 years already 🚔. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's super suspicious how Menendez kept going despite all this and how long it took to get him held accountable.

I don't know, maybe I'm just not smart enough to understand how politics work, but this whole thing just feels like a big mess 🤯. Can someone explain to me what's going on here?

OH MY GOSH, THIS IS LIKE WHOA!!! 🤯 I mean, Bob Menendez is already a shady figure with an 11-year prison sentence for bribery, but to think he was behind Jamal Khashoggi's murder?!?! 😱 That's just not okay, you know? The fact that he was acting as some sort of "mob boss" for New Jersey and working with Egyptian officials to cover it up is just mind-blowing. I don't even have words, tbh... 🤯 How could he do this?!?! And what about the whole thing about providing intelligence related to US embassy personnel in Cairo? That's like, so not cool at all! 😒 The book says that Menendez was doing it for Egyptian interests, but shouldn't we be more concerned about protecting American lives and democracy over some country's regional influence?!?! 🤔

man this guy Menendez is a total scumbag 🤢 he played with fire and got burned big time 11 years in prison for what? some tiny bribe thingy but the real crime is he covered up Jamal Khashoggi's murder that's like, way more serious than just some white collar crime you gotta feel bad for Khashoggi's family and his loved ones 🤕

🤔 This whole thing is just wild... so Bob Menendez was basically like a "mob boss" for NJ and he helped Egypt cover up Jamal Khashoggi's murder? That's some crazy stuff 🤑. I mean, I've heard of senators using their power to help out friends or family, but this is on a whole different level 😱. And now we're finding out that Menendez was involved in shielding Egypt from consequences and even helped them sell arms to Saudi Arabia and Russia? That's some serious backroom dealing 🤑.

I don't know if I'd say it's a "con job" or not, but it definitely raises some major questions about the credibility of the US government and its handling of intelligence 🤷‍♂️. And with Menendez already serving an 11-year prison sentence for other crimes, this just adds to all the questions about his integrity 💔.

It's crazy how powerful people can abuse their positions like this and get away with it for so long 👀. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens next 🤞.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this 🤯... if a senator is involved in something that shady, how did they even get away with it for so long? I mean, Menendez is already serving an 11-year sentence for other stuff, but the fact that he's allegedly involved in Khashoggi's murder just raises more questions. Was this really just a coincidence? 🤔 I'm also curious to know how the media didn't pick up on this sooner... was it all just part of some big cover-up? 😬 And what about the Egyptian government, were they in on it too or did Menendez act alone? 🤝

I'm shocked that it took a book to expose Bob Menendez's involvement in covering up Jamal Khashoggi's murder 😱. I mean, come on, 11 years in prison for bribery is already a huge blow, but if he was indeed working with Egyptian officials to silence Khashoggi, that's a whole new level of shady 🤥. And let's not forget the fact that Menendez was instrumental in shielding Egypt from consequences, essentially giving them free rein to sell arms to Saudi Arabia and Russia while avoiding American sanctions 💸. It's no wonder the author calls for re-examining his actions as Senate Foreign Relations Committee chairman - it's high stakes for global diplomacy, intelligence, alliances, and human rights standards, indeed! 🤝

.. thinkin back to when Bob Menendez was a senator 🙄... this whole thing with Jamal Khashoggi is just mind-blowin' 😱. I mean, how could you cover up somethin' that serious? 🤯 And now we're findin out that the man himself, Menendez, was right in the middle of it all... actin' like a "mob boss" for New Jersey 🤣. It's just crazy to think about him workin' with Egyptian officials to keep 'em from gettin' punished for killin' this poor journalist 📰. And what really gets me is that he was tryin' to protect Egypt's interests, not the American people... it's like, where do you even start? 🤦‍♂️ Anyway, I think the book makes some pretty strong points about Menendez's actions and how they reflect on the US government as a whole 🚨. It's just sad that it took so long to come out... 11 years in prison is a long time 😔.

this is wild to think that someone as high up as a senator would be involved in something like this 🤯 i mean, you can't just look away when you know something's not right and Menendez was definitely no angel here his actions were pretty shady and it's crazy he's getting away with this kinda thing while others get caught for way less. what's the point of having a senate if they're just gonna cover up scandals like this? 🤔

I'm fuming! 🤯 Can't believe what I just read about Bob Menendez, it's like he thinks he's above the law or something! The guy was literally a "mob boss" for NJ and helped the Egyptians cover up Jamal Khashoggi's murder... and we're still trying to figure out how deep this conspiracy goes. 🤔

I mean, what kind of senator acts as a middleman between a foreign government and the US? It's like he was playing both sides against each other and getting paid for it. 💸 And all because Khashoggi spoke out against human rights abuses in Egypt... menendez just had to silence him, no questions asked.

And the worst part is, Menendez is still walking around with a free pass, serving an 11-year sentence for bribery but not for his role in killing Khashoggi. 🚫 It's like he got off scot-free because of who he knew and what connections he had. Unbelievable!

This whole thing stinks to high heaven... the US government needs a serious shake-up, especially when it comes to handling intelligence and foreign policy. Can't trust anyone right now! 😡

I'm shocked to hear that Bob Menendez was involved in covering up Jamal Khashoggi's murder 🤯😱. I mean, come on, a senator playing "mob boss" for New Jersey? That's some serious shady stuff 💸👊. It's like he thought he could get away with it just because he had a high position in the Senate 🙄. And to think he was shielding Egypt from consequences for their human rights abuses... that's just sickening 😷. The fact that he was working with Egyptian officials to conceal their role in Khashoggi's murder is just appalling 🤯. It's like, what's next? Is the US government going to start turning a blind eye to other human rights abuses just because they're "friends" with certain countries? No way, this needs to be looked into further 👊💪

🤔 The more I think about this, the more it seems like a classic case of "who gets to decide what's right or wrong?" I mean, Bob Menendez was involved in some shady stuff, no doubt, but is it fair to say he was directly responsible for Jamal Khashoggi's murder? 🤷‍♂️

I think we need to separate the person from the actions. Sure, Menendez made mistakes and took questionable decisions, but did he have any concrete evidence or motive to actually carry out the hit on Khashoggi himself? Or was it more about protecting Egypt's interests and shielding them from Western sanctions?

It's also worth considering the broader context – how much sway does one senator really have in global diplomacy, after all? Menendez was chairing a committee, not making decisions on his own. Did he genuinely believe he could control the outcome of this situation? 🤓

this guy Menendez is some kinda mob boss 🤣 cant believe a senator would play dirty like this... but at the same time, he does have some shady history, all those years in senate with no major scandal until now seems fishy to me 🐟 anyway, 11 year prison sentence is pretty harsh for someone who wasnt even convicted of anything related to Khashoggis murder, just a bunch of circumstancial evidence against him
