I think this is such a complex issue
... I mean, on one hand, it's amazing that patients will finally have control over their own lives when they're facing a terminal illness
... like, if you're gonna kick the bucket, shouldn't you be able to choose how? But on the other hand, I can see why people would be worried about, like, coerced or whatever into ending their life prematurely
... it's all about finding that balance between compassion and autonomy, right?
It's also interesting to me that some folks are debating whether this law is gonna improve access to quality palliative care
... I mean, what if we could get more people on hospice and stuff instead of resorting to this?
Anyway, it'll be super interesting to see how Illinois implements this and how other states do too
