awww she was such a talented singer & an amazing part of the Grateful Dead fam my heart goes out 2 Bob Weir & everyone affected by her passing Donna Jean Godchaux's legacy will live on through her music & the memories we have of her incredible performances
This is so sad she had an amazing voice , you could feel the emotion in every song i remember listening to Europe '72 for the first time and being blown away by her vocals it's crazy how much of an impact she had on the Grateful Dead's music and beyond even though its been years since she left us, her legacy lives on and that's what matters
So the Grateful Dead is paying tribute to Donna Jean Godchaux now? Like, 30 years after she passed away... That's a bit weird, right? I mean, I'm sure they're just trying to keep her memory alive and all that, but it feels like they're only doing it now because someone else made them. Can we get some proof of how this is actually happening? Like, did the Grateful Dead officially announce this or is it just some random Instagram post?
And what's up with Bob Weir saying she "blazed a path in music" like that's something new or groundbreaking? I mean, come on, Donna Jean Godchaux was part of one of the most iconic bands of all time. She didn't exactly need to be told how special she was.
I'm also curious about why they're not sharing more info about what specifically they liked about her singing style or performance. Is it just because we don't know much about their current plans for a tribute concert or something?
omg u no wut?? Donna Jean Godchaux was literally the QUEEN of vocals ! i mean, can u even imagine anyone else on stage w/ Jerry & crew ?! shes got this iconic voice that just transcends everythin' & adds this extra layer to their music . and its so sad she's gone but her legacy lives on thru the band & her fans . gotta give it up 4 her!
