Historic market in Kinshasa ready to reopen to a million shoppers a day after five-year makeover

OMG 🤯 I'm so stoked to hear that Zando Market is finally reopening! 😊 The renovation looks insane – 10,000 stalls? 630 shops? That's like, a whole new level of market vibes 💁‍♀️! Dieudonné Bakarani's vision for a sustainable and culturally sensitive space is exactly what we need to see more of in Africa 🌍. I mean, the Holcim Foundation award is no joke – this project is seriously impressive 🏆.

I do hope the government gets its act together though 😬 those anti-corruption orgs are right on the money about transparency and accountability. But overall, I'm all for Bakarani's positive energy and determination to make Zando a success 💪. It's going to be so cool to see the market come alive with visitors from all over – up to 1 million daily? That's just crazy 🤯!

this is so cool 🤩, i was wondering what was going on with zando market, been hearing about it from other readers, finally getting some updates, sounds like bakarani has big plans 💡, a million daily visitors is ambitious but hey, if its executed right, could be a huge boost to the local economy 💸, also interesting that they incorporated rainwater harvesting systems and landscaped courtyards, sustainable design for real 🌿

omg u guys i just read about zando market reopening in DRC after 5 yrs of renovation 🤯 it's like wow they spent 56m on it lol and now they're aiming for 1 mil daily visitors 🤑 the architect won an award for sustainable design 🏢 but idk if its too westernized for african culture ??? anyway i wanna visit zando market someday, heard it has over 10k stalls & rainwater harvesting systems 💦 can u imagine buying veggies from a vendor who used to sell them here like dieudonne did back in the day 🤓

I'm so hyped about Zando Market reopening 🎉🌿! I think it's awesome that they're trying to modernize while still keeping traditional African culture alive 💪. I mean, 10,000+ stalls and 22 banking units? That's a lot of options for customers! 🤯 But what's got me curious is the £56m price tag - where did all that cash come from? And those anti-corruption orgs saying the gov is incompetent? Not buying it 😒. I'd love to see some proof of transparency in this contract. Still, Bakarani seems like a cool cat with a great vision 👍. Fingers crossed Zando becomes a model for sustainable markets across Africa 🌈!

Wow 🤯! 1 million daily visitors is crazy!!! I think it's great that they're incorporating traditional elements into the market, but also modern amenities like rainwater harvesting systems. The fact that they worked with local communities to design it with their needs in mind is super cool too! 💚
