I gotta say, this production of HMS Pinafore is like a big ol' plate of ice cream - it's silly, fun, and makes you wanna giggle! But what I love most about it is how it balances wit and comedy with heart and soul. It's like they're saying, don't be afraid to look a little ridiculous, 'cause that's where the real magic happens . And let's not forget the cast - each one of them brings their A-game, making you feel like you're part of the show. It's all about embracing your inner goofball and letting loose, you know? That's the lesson I'm taking away from this production - don't be too proud to be a little silly sometimes, and always remember to have fun
LOL @ Trevor Eliot Bowes stealing the show with those dick jokes , I mean who needs subtlety when you can just go full-on silly? Cal McCrystal's direction is top-notch though, he really knows how to bring out the zany energy in this production. And can we talk about Mel Giedroyc's multitasking skills? Two roles and minimal rehearsal? She's like a one-woman show . The set design and costumes are on point too, it's like stepping into a time capsule of Victoriana shenanigans .
I'm loving the new production of HMS Pinafore at ENO!!! The reciprocal arts swap scheme between Michael Portillo and a chorus member is pure genius! It's like they're having a blast on stage together, and it's infectious. I also adore Mel Giedroyc's dual roles - she's got such great comedic timing. The costumes are fab too, really transporting you to the Victorian era. And Cal McCrystal's direction is just spot on, the physical comedy had me giggling away! The whole cast delivers top-notch performances, especially Trevor Eliot Bowes as Dick Deadeye - dick jokes for days!
