How to help the resistance to ICE in Minnesota — and beyond

Supporting the Resistance to ICE in Minnesota and Beyond: A Call to Action

The recent surge in immigration enforcement by federal authorities, including the killing of civilians and protesters, has left many Americans feeling aghast and powerless. However, channeling these emotions into action can be a powerful way to make a difference.

In Minneapolis, community members have responded with remarkable resilience and solidarity, establishing networks of volunteers monitoring ICE activity and providing essential services like food, diapers, and shelter to families in need. This grassroots resistance is inspiring, but it's not unique to Minnesota. ICE's enforcement policies are being felt across the country, and immigrants and their supporters are crying out for help.

If you're looking for ways to support those affected by ICE's actions, here are some steps you can take:

First, consider donating to local organizations that provide legal aid, food, shelter, and other essential services to immigrant families. Organizations like Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota, Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid, and Southeastern Minnesota Interfaith Immigrant Legal Defense offer critical support, but they often face capacity constraints.

You can also volunteer your time with these organizations or other local groups that provide vital services to immigrants. From packing groceries for food banks to accompanying immigrants through the court system as a legal observer, there are countless ways to get involved.

If you're unable to donate or volunteer in person, consider supporting immigrant-led nonprofits or mutual aid organizations through crowdfunding campaigns or other online platforms. These organizations often rely on public support to continue their vital work.

Finally, if you're an American taxpayer who opposes ICE's enforcement policies, remember that your dollars are already being spent on these efforts. Take the two minutes it takes to call your representatives and express your opposition to ICE's actions.

Ultimately, supporting those affected by ICE's policies requires a collective effort. By standing with our neighbors and advocating for humane immigration policies, we can create a more just and equitable society for everyone.

In Minnesota, community members have shown remarkable resilience in the face of ICE's aggression. But this is not an isolated incident. ICE's enforcement policies are being felt across the country, and immigrants and their supporters need your support now more than ever.

So what can you do? Start by connecting with local organizations that provide critical services to immigrant families. Consider volunteering your time or donating to these groups. And if you're unable to get involved in person, consider supporting immigrant-led nonprofits or mutual aid organizations online.

Every action counts, and every voice matters. By standing with those affected by ICE's policies, we can create a more just and equitable society for everyone.

I'm so sad to hear about the killings of civilians and protesters... 🤕 my heart is breaking for all those people who are going through this traumatic experience. The fact that the community in Minnesota has come together like this is really inspiring, but it's also heartbreaking that they have to deal with such a situation. I feel so helpless too, just thinking about how many lives are being affected by these policies... 🤯

man i remember when i first moved to this country my parents were like super scared of the law cuz they came here on visas 🤯 now its like ice is being all aggressive and stuff and i feel bad for those families who are getting affected 🤕 i dont know what can be done but we gotta do something cuz it feels so unfair 🙅‍♂️ i was thinking maybe we could start a fundraiser or somethin for the orgs that help these people out? or even just raise awareness about howice is treating people 📰 its like we need to stand together and show em that we care about humanity too ❤️

🙌 oh man i'm so proud of the ppl in minnesota who are standin up 2 ice they're showin us all what it means 2 be brave & compassionate at the same time 🤗 i think we should all be supportin these orgs that are helpin immigrant families they deserve our love & care 💕 it's not just about donatin or volunteerin, it's about spreadin awareness too we gotta make sure everyone knows what's goin on & how they can help 📢

ICE is taking it too far man 🤕. These people are already dealing with so much stress and uncertainty, and now they're getting hurt or arrested? It's just not right. We need to be supporting these communities, not scaring them off even more. I'm all for standing up against injustice, but we gotta do it in a way that's gonna bring people together, you know?

ice is getting out of control 🤯 i dont know how much more of this country cant take it, people are literally dying 🙏 i was reading about that incident in minneapolis where 3 ppl were killed and all they had to do was get in line like normal 😩 whats wrong with us?? we gotta start taking action now, not just talking about it 👍

just had the worst feeling seeing all these immigrants getting hurt or arrested its like america has forgotten what it means to be human 🤕 meanwhile, these community groups in minnesota are literally running around like superheroes providing food shelter and support to families in need i wish more ppl would get involved or atleast donate some cash to help out these organizations they deserve our support

ICE is like, super messed up 🤯. They're killing people and families, and it's so not okay. But instead of just sitting around feeling helpless, let's take action! We gotta support the communities that are on the front lines, like in Minnesota, who are fighting back against these awful policies.

I mean, I get it, we can't change everything at once, but every little bit counts, right? 🤝 Donating to organizations that help immigrants, volunteering our time, or even just calling our reps – it all adds up! And let's be real, if you're a taxpayer and you oppose ICE's stuff, your money is already being used for these policies... so why not speak out, right?

The thing is, this isn't just about immigrants; it's about human rights in general. We need to stand up for what's right, even when it's hard or uncomfortable 🤕. So let's get involved and make some noise!

man this is so crazy what's happening with ice in the us i feel like were living in a real life video game where you have to survive each day without knowing if you'll get deported next week 🤯 any way im all about supporting our ppl in minnesota and beyond we need to lift each other up and show those who are oppressing us that we wont be silenced 💪 i think its super important for people to donate to orgs like immigrant law center of minnesota and mid-minnesota legal aid they do so much work behind the scenes to help fams in need 🙏 also volunteering ur time is a great way 2 get involved too whether its packing groceries or accompanying ppl thru the court system it all matters 💕

ICE is literally out of control 🚫💥 they're basically killing people and you know what? Americans are still gonna step up to help these families in need 🤝🌎 I mean, it's the right thing to do, you know? We gotta be good neighbors, especially when we're talking about folks who are just trying to make a better life for themselves. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for holding our leaders accountable, but we can't just sit back and do nothing while people are getting hurt 🤦‍♂️. We need more people stepping up to help out, whether it's volunteering time, donating money, or using their voices to raise awareness about what's going on. Every little bit counts, and together, we can make a difference 💪🌟

I don't think donating money is the best way to help out - it's just gonna get lost in some bureaucratic hole somewhere 🤑. What people need is actual resources on the ground, like food, shelter, and medical care. We should be focusing on setting up community clinics and emergency centers instead of throwing cash at organizations that might not even use it effectively.

And honestly, volunteering your time sounds like a total hassle - who's got time for that? I'd rather just give my money to some crowdfunding campaign that's already set up and tested. And as for calling your reps, good luck with that... it's not like they're gonna actually listen to you anyway 🤷‍♂️.

We need to be thinking outside the box here - instead of relying on established orgs, let's just start DIYing our own support systems. We can make our own food banks, set up our own shelters, and even organize our own community centers. That way, we're in control of how the money gets spent and who benefits from it. It's time to take matters into our own hands! 💪

I'm thinking of what i can do to help... like donating to orgs that provide food & shelter 2 immigrant families but then again i don't wanna put my money where my mouth is 🤔. I've heard of orgs like Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota, Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid, and Southeastern Minnesota Interfaith Immigrant Legal Defense, but how do i know which one to support? are they all doing good work or r some just taking advantage of ppl in need?

and what about volunteering time? i dont have much free time rn, but i dont wanna be a bystander either. can u tell me more about orgs that need volunteers? and whats the best way 2 get started?

i'm worried that my govt rep won't listen 2 me if i call them about opposing ICE's policies 🤷‍♀️. r there any other ways 2 make a difference without just talking 2 my rep?

🚨 gotta say, this is a big deal for the US - all this ICE enforcement stuff is super concerning 🤕 i mean, it's not like they're just talking about deportation or something, they're actively putting people in harm's way 🌪️. we need more ppl to speak out against this and demand some change. donating to local orgs that help immigrants sounds like a good place to start 💸, but we also need more voices in the policy-making process. maybe it's time for some of those representatives to listen up? 🗣️

man i'm so done with all this ice drama 🤯, like what even is the point of having a country if u can't even take care of its own ppl? 😩 i've been seeing these videos of families being torn apart because of some bureaucratic nonsense and it's just heartbreaking 💔. but u know what the worst part is? americans are still gonna stand by and watch all this happen 🤦‍♂️, like they're just gonna sit there and let their dollars fund the oppression of other ppl? 🤑 no thanks 👎

omg u gotta support these ppl!!! i mean i no its super scary what s gonna happen to all those families & innocent ppl caught in the middle of this whole thing 🤕 but we cant jus sit around & do nothing! we need 2 stand w/ our neighbors n advocate 4 humane immigration policies 💪 like wat r we even gonna do if we dont?! so yeah pls donate 2 organizations lik immigrant law center or mid minnesota legal aid or somethin & also volunteer ur time 2 help out & support ppl thru the court system 📝 & if u cant do that either, jus call ur reps n let them no ur not down w/ icewhatever & support ppl on online platforms too 🌐 its all bout showin up 4 our communities n makin a diff!

ICE is out of control 🚨💔. I'm all for helping out the communities in Minnesota, but I gotta be honest, it feels like they're gonna need a lot more support than what's being offered right now. Don't get me wrong, I love that people are stepping up and volunteering their time, but we need to talk about the bigger picture here.

I mean, what's really gonna change with just donating to local orgs or calling our reps? We gotta be thinking about policy changes and systemic solutions, you know? Like, how can we make it so ICE can't just come in and start enforcing whatever laws they want whenever they feel like it?

It's not all doom and gloom tho 🌈. I do think these grassroots movements are super inspiring, and if people keep showing up and demanding change, we might actually see some progress. But let's not get ahead of ourselves here. We need to make sure that everyone who needs help is getting the support they deserve.

We should be supporting all sorts of orgs, not just the ones mentioned in the article 🤔. There are tons of other groups out there doing amazing work, and we should be amplifying their voices too.

🌎 the thing that really gets me is how this isn't even on the news anymore but its still super relevant it feels like were stuck in some kinda loop where the same stuff keeps happening over and over again and people are still trying to figure out how to make a difference i mean dont get me wrong theres some amazing community orgs out there doing incredible work but its hard not to feel like our efforts are getting lost in the noise we need to find ways to amplify these voices and support them more effectively

I'm feeling really frustrated about all the ICE actions happening across the US 🤯🚫. It's like, what even is the point of having a country if we're not gonna protect our own people? I mean, I know some ppl say they're trying to enforce immigration laws, but it feels like they're just picking on innocent families and communities 🤝.

I've been looking into organizations that support immigrants in MN, and it's crazy how little funding they have 🤑. It's like, we can't even afford to take care of our own people? I'm thinking about volunteering my time or donating some cash to help out 💸. But honestly, it feels like we need more than just individual actions - we need systemic change 🔄.

I wish ppl would just talk about this stuff more 🗣️. It's not always easy to bring up immigration issues in conversation, but I think it's so important for us to start having a national dialogue about how we want to handle these kinds of situations 🔊.
