'I respect him an awful lot': Carrick reveals Solskjær backing for Manchester United role

Ole Gunnar Solskjær's backing for Michael Carrick as Manchester United interim head coach has been revealed, with the Norwegian expressing full support for his friend despite not getting the top job himself.

Carrick and Solskjær were teammates at Old Trafford during the 2006-07 season, and the Norwegian also coached alongside him on several occasions. When Solskjær was sacked in November 2021, Carrick stepped in as interim head coach for three games before handing over to Ralf Rangnick.

Despite not getting the permanent role, Solskjær has been a vocal supporter of Carrick's appointment, with the Norwegian wishing his former teammate all the best after Manchester City. Speaking about their friendship and past experiences together, Carrick revealed that Solskjær had been "fully supportive" of his second interim tenure.

When asked if he might seek advice from Solskjær in the future, Carrick joked that friendships often involve conversations without needing to bother others. However, it's clear that the two men have a strong bond and are not afraid to rely on each other for support.

As Manchester United prepare for their next match against Arsenal, Carrick has emphasized the importance of adapting to different situations and not relying on the same strategies. "Every game is different," he said. "You've got to build on what you've done and be ready for new elements that need to come into it."

One player who caught Carrick's eye in the recent win against Manchester City was Patrick Dorgu, who played as a wide attacker and impressed with his work rate and positional awareness. Despite having primarily been used as a wingback since joining the club last January, Carrick believes Dorgu has the potential to play both roles effectively.

With Solskjær's backing and a clear understanding of the importance of adapting to different situations, Manchester United fans are hopeful that Carrick can lead the team to success in his second interim tenure.

🤔 I think it's awesome to see how supportive Ole Gunnar is with Michael Carrick getting the job 🙌. They've been friends for ages and have played together on the pitch, so it makes sense that they'd be close off the field too 👫. It's also good to hear that Carrick's not afraid to ask for help or advice from his mate Solskjær 😊. And I agree with him about adapting to different situations - every game is different and you've got to think on your feet 🕹️. Who knows, maybe Patrick Dorgu can be the next big thing at United 🚀!

🤔 this is what i think about carrick gettin the job, hes got skills fam but also needs 2 figure out wat works 4 dis team, its all bout adaptin 2 new situations & playin 2 different styles of play, u gotta b ready 4 anythin, 1 game dont make or break a season, so lets see how he does 👀

OMG yaaas Michael Carrick is my man!!! I'm so hyped for him to take on this role and prove all the doubters wrong 💪🏽! He's got such a great bond with Ole Gunnar Solskjær and that's gonna be super beneficial for Manchester United. And can we talk about how Patrick Dorgu is going to slay in that wide attacker role?! 🤩 I'm loving the way Carrick's thinking outside the box and adapting his strategy for each game...he's got this! 😎

🤩 I'm loving this development with Michael Carrick at Man U! He seems super organized and knows what he wants for each game, which is really refreshing after all the drama they had last season 🙅‍♂️. Plus, Ole Solskjær's endorsement means a lot coming from his old mate - it shows they've got chemistry and trust in each other 💕. I'm curious to see how Carrick handles the pressure now that he's back as interim head coach... will he be able to maintain that momentum for more than just 3 games? 🤔

I dont think its a big deal that Carricks not top dog atm... hes still doing a great job so far lol 🤷‍♂️. I mean, Solskjaer was happy with him getting the interim gig even tho he didnt get it full time. Thats just how it goes sometimes 😊. The thing that matters most is results, and Manchester United fans are hoping Carrick can bring some wins to Old Trafford soon 💪. As for Carricks new player pickup, Dorgu sounds like an interesting addition 🤔... lets see if he can live up to the hype! 👀

🤝 think solskjaer backing carrick is really good move for man ut 🏴‍☠️ carrick's experience as player & coach will definitely help him make right decisions 📊 and i'm glad he's keeping the focus on adapting to different situations 🔄 it'll be interesting to see how he handles different opponents like arsenal 👀 also love that dorgu caught carrick's eye - young players with potential are always exciting to watch 😃 can't wait for their next match against arsenal ⚽

So what do you guys think about this move? I mean, Solskjaer is sticking by Carrick, even though he didn't get the job himself... it's cool, right? 🤝 Like, they're buddies from old Trafford days and all that. And it's not like Carrick is some kind of rookie - he's been in charge before! 🙌 Still, I'm curious to see how this plays out. Can Carrick really bring the winning vibes back to Old Trafford? 😊

I'm curious about this whole Michael Carrick thing 🤔. Like, he's getting the job as interim head coach and all that, but at what cost? Solskjær isn't even getting the permanent gig, which is pretty frustrating for him I guess 😐. It's not like they're even playing games together anymore, so it's kinda weird how much of a support system they've got going on between them 🤝.

I mean, Carrick's definitely shown some good qualities as an interim coach – the guy adapts to new situations pretty well and he knows his stuff about Manchester United 👏. But at the same time, you can't help but wonder if he's in over his head or not 😬. We'll see how it all plays out, I suppose 💭.

🤔 I'm not sure why Manchester United needed an interim head coach anyway... it feels like they're always changing managers 🙄. And now Michael Carrick is back in the role, which is just a bunch of temporary fixes 📦. I mean, what's the point of having Solskjær as his mentor if he's not even getting the job himself? It seems like more of a publicity stunt than actual footballing advice 📺. And let's be real, they're still struggling to find their identity on the pitch... how can Carrick possibly lead them to success when they can't even defend themselves properly? 😅

🤔 think its great to see carrick get the chance to prove himself again, hes been around the block a few times already so should know what works and whats needed on match day 🏆 gotta feel for solsjaarer too, mate's got some serious loyalty and if they dont get along off the pitch at least theyve got each other on it 😊 anyway its time for carrick to shine and hopefully dorgu can be the spark we need to take us forward 💡
