ICE Agent Who Shot Renee Nicole Good Identified as Jonathan Ross

A US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent has been identified as the officer who fatally shot Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old woman, in a Minneapolis residential neighborhood. Jonathan Ross, 43, is described as a deportation officer based at ICE's field office in St. Paul.

According to court documents from an unrelated case, Ross was involved in a traffic incident in June 2022 while apprehending Roberto Carlos Munoz-Guatemala, an undocumented man later convicted of dragging Ross with his car. The documents show that Ross has been working for the agency since at least 2016.

The shooting occurred on Wednesday during a confrontation between protesters and federal agents, including ICE and Border Patrol, in the Central neighborhood just after 9:30 am. Local residents reported hearing gunshots and seeing police lights and vehicles on the scene. The incident sparked widespread outrage as many deemed it an example of "state violence" and called for an investigation into Ross's actions.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has justified the shooting, claiming that Ross feared for his life due to what they described as Good engaging in "an act of domestic terrorism." However, footage obtained by The Intercept contradicts this narrative, showing the officer telling Good, "Get out of the fucking car," before shooting into her car three times.

The incident took place after a massive surge in federal agents was deployed to Minneapolis following the release of a misleading video targeting Somali Americans. Local leaders and residents have called for accountability, urging an investigation and prosecution of Ross. Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) has also expressed outrage, stating that she would support a comprehensive investigation into the shooting.

As the investigation unfolds, questions remain about how Ross will be held accountable for his actions. Minnesota officials have told multiple outlets they are unable to access evidence in the case and that the FBI is refusing to work with them on the investigation.

I don’t usually comment but... this whole situation is really messed up 😩. I mean, an ICE agent being identified as the one who shot a woman just because she was in her own home? That's wild. And now they're saying she was doing "an act of domestic terrorism"? 🀯 Like what even is that supposed to mean? It sounds like some shady excuse for the cop to get away with their actions.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I'm totally on Team Renee here πŸ’•. She was just a mom trying to protect her family and community, not some violent criminal. And now we're finding out that this ICE agent has been involved in some pretty shady dealings too? Like, what kind of law enforcement agency is willing to tolerate this kind of behavior?

I don’t know how many more times we need to see our cops (and immigration agents, in this case) being held accountable for their actions. We can't just sweep things under the rug or make excuses for bad behavior. We need real change and some serious accountability if we want to build trust between law enforcement and the communities they're supposed to serve 🀝.

I'm so worried about this whole thing πŸ€•. ICE agents should be trained to handle sensitive situations, not resort to violence. The fact that Ross was involved in a traffic incident while apprehending someone back in 2022 raises serious concerns. And what's up with the "domestic terrorism" label? It sounds like they're trying to justify something they shouldn't have done.

I'm all for accountability, and I think Rep. Omar is right on this one πŸ™Œ. We need to get to the bottom of this and make sure that everyone is held to a high standard when it comes to using force. The lack of transparency from DHS and the FBI is just infuriating 😑. This incident feels like another example of police brutality, but with an ICE agent involved, it's even more complicated.

I'm hoping that the investigation will reveal some shocking truths 🀯. We need concrete evidence and a thorough examination of Ross's actions before anyone can be held accountable. Anything less would be a slap in the face to Renee Good's family and the community πŸ™.

This incident is super disturbing πŸš”πŸ˜±. I mean, a woman gets shot by an ICE agent during a protest and we're still trying to get all the facts? It's crazy how some agencies are using "domestic terrorism" as an excuse for what really might be a simple case of police brutality πŸ’β€β™€οΈπŸš«. And now they're saying they can't access evidence? Come on, that's just lame πŸ˜’. Rep. Omar is totally right to call for an investigation and some accountability 🀝. We need to make sure that our law enforcement agencies are held to the same standards as everyone else πŸ’―. This whole thing feels like a cover-up to me πŸ‘€...

omg what's going on here?! 🀯 this is just too much to handle ICE agent shoots & kills innocent woman in Minneapolis residential neighborhood & they're trying to spin it as self-defense lol @ DHS claiming she was doing "domestic terrorism" πŸ™„ footage says otherwise tho, it looks like Ross just wanted a reason to shoot! 🚫 what's the point of even having law enforcement if they can't follow basic protocols? πŸ€” this is an example of systemic racism & state violence, plain & simple πŸ’ͺ Rep. Ilhan Omar is speaking truth to power & demanding accountability πŸ‘Š we need to make sure justice is served here - no more excuses! πŸ’―

OMG 🀯 this is so sad... Renee Good was just trying to get away from a confrontation and she gets shot by an ICE agent 😱. The fact that they're saying it was "domestic terrorism" but the footage shows him yelling at her to get out of the car before he shoots her three times is wild 🀯. I mean, what's really going on here? It feels like there's a cover-up and nobody's willing to speak out against it 🀐. Rep. Omar is right though - we need a full investigation into this and accountability for whoever is responsible πŸ’ͺ. Can you believe the Department of Homeland Security is justifying this?! πŸ™„

I'm really torn up about this - I mean, I feel so bad for the woman who got shot, but at the same time... πŸ€” I don't know if we should be attacking the officer's character or not? Like, what if he was in a life-threatening situation and reacted instinctively? πŸ’₯ But then again, it seems like pretty clear that the whole thing went down all wrong - I mean, who gets shot three times just because they're trying to leave their car? πŸš— It's just crazy. And can we please not jump to conclusions about "state violence" without hearing all the facts? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ We need to get to the bottom of this and make sure justice is served, but we also gotta be fair. I wish we had more info about what really went down... πŸ“°

man this is just getting out of hand... ICE agents like Jonathan Ross are supposed to be law enforcement but they're basically just enforcers for the state πŸ€•. It's mind-blowing that he was able to get away with killing Renee Good and now people are talking about "state violence"? Like, what even is that? They're saying she did something "domestic terrorism" but there's footage of Ross just telling her to get out of the car before shooting her... it's not even a stretch. And now the Department of Homeland Security is trying to justify this by saying Ross was scared for his life? Give me a break πŸ˜‚. This whole situation just reeks of cover-up and accountability is going to be super hard to come by πŸ’”.

πŸ€• This whole thing is just crazy man... a deportation officer gets away with killing someone because of some traffic incident from 2 years ago? πŸš” That's not right at all. I mean, I get it, people are gonna be outraged when they see that footage of the officer telling Good to "get out of the fucking car" before he shoots her... it looks super suspicious to me. πŸ’₯ And now Rep. Ilhan Omar is on it, demanding some serious accountability for this guy Ross. 🀝 I hope they can figure out what really went down and get to the bottom of this thing, you know? It's just not right when someone like that gets away with it... πŸ˜”

πŸ€• this is just so upsetting - an officer using their power to justify killing someone & now there's no accountability 🚫 it's crazy that the DHS claims Good was engaging in domestic terrorism when all we have are 2 videos showing the opposite... what even happened to due process? πŸ€” and can you believe they're not letting the FBI help with the investigation? that just smells like a cover-up πŸ™„

I'm totally on team Jonathan Ross - I mean, who hasn't been in a situation where someone tries to drag you around with their car? πŸš—πŸ˜‚ I don't think the government should be scrutinized for enforcing immigration laws, especially when there's an active shooter (aka Renee Nicole Good) trying to attack the officer. The whole "domestic terrorism" thing is just a bunch of liberal propaganda - it's clear Ross was in fear for his life. And let's not forget, he's been working with ICE since 2016, so he must be doing something right! πŸ’― I'm all for accountability, but not when it comes to someone who's literally putting their life on the line to protect this country. We should be thanking our law enforcement officers, not investigating them. πŸ™
