Chicago's culinary scene has been recognized by the James Beard Foundation as 23 semifinalists for this year's prestigious food awards. Among them are EL Ideas, a Near West Side eatery serving eclectic American fare from chef Phillip Foss, and Kasama, a Ukrainian Village restaurant that recently earned its second Michelin star.
