Jimmy Eat World Unveils ‘Bleed American’ 25th Anniversary Tour: ‘It Changed Our Lives’

Jimmy Eat World is embarking on a whirlwind celebration of its iconic album "Bleed American" as it marks 25 years since its release. The Mesa, Arizona-formed alt-rock quartet will embark on a lengthy tour celebrating the album's impact on their career and fan base.

The band plans to play the entire album in sequence but with varying setlists each night. Fans can look forward to a mix of old favorites like "The Middle" and new material from Jimmy Eat World's latest releases.

In an interview with Billboard, frontman Jim Adkins reflected on the significance of "Bleed American" stating that it was "a game-changer" for the band. It marked their first top 40 effort on the Billboard Hot 100 and solidified Jimmy Eat World's place in the alternative rock scene.

Without a record label to support them, Jimmy Eat World funded the album independently through touring and day jobs. The band credits producer Mark Trombino with helping make ends meet during this time.

The album features standout tracks like "The Authority Song" and "The Middle," which catapulted the band into mainstream success. A memorable nod to John Mellencamp's hit song, the track came together quickly, according to Adkins.

One of the most remarkable aspects of "Bleed American" is its self-titled release without a label. The title change was made in response to the 9/11 attacks on New York and Washington D.C., with Adkins stating that they wanted people to focus on the album rather than the title.

The full itinerary for Jimmy Eat World's tour includes stops across North America, Europe, and Asia. Fans can look forward to a mix of nostalgic shows and new material from the band's latest releases.

Ugh, another band going all out with their 25th-anniversary tour 🤯. I mean, I love Jimmy Eat World as much as the next person, but do they have to play the entire "Bleed American" album every night? 🎵 Can't they just mix it up a bit for fans who want a breather from all the familiar hits? And what's with the whole "new material" thing? Are they really expecting us to care about some new songs that are just going to get lost in the shuffle of their classic discography? 🤷‍♂️ I'm all for nostalgia shows, but come on, can't they give us a break from the same old setlist every night? 😴

omg I'm so hyped about this!!! 25 years since "Bleed American" dropped and jimmy eat world is gonna celebrate it with a massive tour 🤩! I remember listening to that album in school (we had a pretty good music class, btw) and just being obsessed with "The Middle". It's crazy to think the whole band did it on their own without a record label - talk about dedication 💪. And can we talk about how iconic that album is? like, who doesn't love "The Authority Song"? 🎸 anyway, I'm definitely gonna try and catch one of these shows if they come to my city!

🤔 I just realized I need to get out more often... like, yesterday. I was going through old family photos and saw this pic of my grandparents' wedding cake 🎂. It was literally shaped like a giant cake with candles on it! I'm pretty sure that's the most creative thing I've ever seen. Anyway, back to Jimmy Eat World... yeah, they're super cool, but have you ever tried making a homemade cake from scratch? It's way more fun than watching a concert 🎵

OMG u guys!! 😍 I'm beyond stoked that Jimmy Eat World is celebrating 25 yrs of "Bleed American" 🎉! That album has such a special place in my heart, it was like the soundtrack to my teenage years 🎶. I remember listening to it nonstop and singing along to every word 🎤. The fact that they're playing the entire album in sequence is gonna be insane 🤯! And the setlists are gonna vary each night so there's always something new to look forward to 🎉. I love how Jim Adkins reflected on the album being a game-changer for them, it's true 💯! The fact that they funded it independently through touring and day jobs is so inspiring 🙌. And can we talk about "The Middle" for a sec? 🤔 It's such an iconic song and I love how Mark Trombino helped bring the album together 👍. This tour is gonna be lit 🔥, mark my words!

can believe it's already been 25 yrs since "Bleed American" dropped 🤯 Jimmy Eat World was always my fave alt-rock band growing up, and hearing they're re-releasing this iconic album in its entirety for their tour is insane! I love how Jim Adkins talked about how much of a game-changer it was for the band - I can see why, the whole thing just screams 90s alt-rock perfection 🎸. It's crazy that they funded it themselves without a label, talk about making ends meet while still putting out quality music 😂. Can't wait to see them live and catch some of those standout tracks like "The Authority Song" and "The Middle" again 💥

I mean, who doesn't love "The Middle" and "The Authority Song"? 😂 It's amazing how the band was able to make ends meet on their own when they released the album independently. And can we talk about the significance of the title change? That's so cool 💖. The fact that they made it without a label shows just how dedicated they were to making music for themselves and their fans. I'm definitely gonna try to catch one of these shows, fingers crossed 🤞!

omg 25 yrs is crazy!! i'm hyped for the tour 🤩 they've come so far since "bleed american" and it's amazing how it marked their transition into mainstream success. i love that they funded the album themselves, talk about DIY spirit 💪 and yeah "the middle" is still one of my fave songs ever 🎵 anyone else feeling nostalgic for this era of alt rock? 😌

omg what's up with jimmy eat world wanting to play the whole "bleed american" album in sequence?? like i get it its 25 years and all but cant they just throw in some other songs to keep things interesting? its gonna be so repetitive 😴🎸 i mean dont get me wrong im a big fan but this just seems like a cop out.

Dude! I'm so stoked that Jimmy Eat World is doing this 25th-anniversary tour 🎉🎸. They're gonna play the whole "Bleed American" album straight through, but with some cool variations each night - love it! And, omg, can you even imagine hearing all those old faves like "The Middle" live? I'm hyped for that 😆. I mean, it's crazy to think about how that album came together, no record label backing them and all... but they made it happen through their own hard work 💪. And, yeah, that title change was a pretty bold move, especially after 9/11 🤕. But hey, at least the focus is on the music now 👍! I'm def gonna be checking out this tour - you should come with me? 🎟️

I'm so stoked about this tour 🤩 but at the same time, I don't know if it's necessary... I mean, 25 years is a long time, right? The album was definitely influential and all, but did they really need to play the whole thing from start to finish every night? That sounds kinda exhausting for both the band and the fans 🤯. And what about some new songs, you know? They've released some decent stuff in recent years... shouldn't they include that too? On the other hand, I guess it's a great way to celebrate the album's impact and all... maybe I'm just being too critical 😊

Man, 25 years of "Bleed American" is crazy! I'm so stoked that Jimmy Eat World is celebrating this album in such a big way 🎉. It's like they're taking us on a journey down memory lane, playing all the classics and some new stuff too. The fact that it was released independently and still went on to be super successful is just wild. And you know, I love how Jim Adkins talks about the album being a "game-changer" for them - like, totally deserved! 🤘

I also gotta give props to Mark Trombino for helping them out during that tough time. It's amazing what happens when people come together to support an artist's vision. And, omg, the title change? Genius move, man! It's so cool how they kept it simple and focused on the music, not the politics. Anyway, can't wait to see Jimmy Eat World live and hear "The Middle" and all the rest for myself 🎸

omg, 25 years is crazy! i'm so stoked that jimmy eat world is celebrating "bleed american" 🤩 they're gonna play it all in sequence but with some varying setlists each night? that's like a dream come true for fans! and can we talk about how incredible it is that they funded the album on their own without a record label? i mean, that's what indie spirit is all about 💖 mark trombino must've been super helpful too. anyway, gonna be such a bummer if anyone misses this tour 🤦‍♀️

omg i'm literally dying over this news!!! 🤯 jimmy eat world is going on tour celebrating 25 yrs since bleed american dropped and it's gonna be EVERYTHING!!! 🎉 they're playin the whole album in sequence but with different setlists each night, so we get both old faves like "the middle" and new material from their latest releases! 🤩 jim adkins said it was a game-changer for them and i'm SO here for it, especially after how hard they worked to fund it independently through touring and day jobs. mark trombino helped them out too, which is super cool. can't wait to see them live again and relive all the magic of bleed american 🎸🎶

omg 🤩 just heard about jimmy eat world's 25 yr anniversary tour & i'm SO stoked 😆🎉 they're gonna play their iconic album "bleed american" in its entirety, but with different setlists each night 🔄💥 it's gonna be a blast from the past for fans like me who grew up on that album 🎵👍 jim adkins said it was a game-changer for the band & i totally agree 😊 they funded the album themselves, which is so inspiring 💪 and to think about how much their music has stood the test of time... it's just amazing 🙌

OMG, 25 years ago they released this iconic album... I'm not sure how they're gonna top it 🤔. Playing the whole thing in sequence is kinda cool, but also super ambitious - what if they mess up a song? 😬 I mean, I love "The Middle" as much as the next person, but new material from their latest releases? Idk... are we really ready for that? 🎸

omg i cant even 🤯 this is so cool that jimmy eat world is celebrating 25 yrs of bleed american!!! 💖 they're gonna play the whole album in sequence but with diff setlists each night lol what a genius move 🤓 gotta love how they funded the album on their own thru touring and day jobs, talk about dedication 💪

You gotta love it when bands come back with some serious nostalgia vibes! I mean, who doesn't remember belting out "The Middle" like it was 2001 all over again? 🤘 Jimmy Eat World is really killing it on this tour and celebrating a major milestone in their discography. The fact that they funded the album themselves back in the day is just insane - talk about dedication to your craft! 💪 And, man, "The Authority Song" still gives me chills... have you seen them live?

omg u gotta think about why jimmy eat world is releasing "Bleed American" 25 yrs later... like they're trying 2 distract us from something. i mean, what's really goin on in their minds? the album was all about 9/11 and how it changed everything, but now it's just a old alt-rock album tour... too convenient.

I don’t usually comment but I'm actually kinda stoked about this news 🤩. 25 years since "Bleed American" dropped and Jimmy Eat World is still going strong. I mean, who wouldn't want to hear a mix of old faves like "The Middle" with new material from their latest releases? It's awesome they're gonna play the whole album in sequence but with different setlists each night - it's like a celebration of nostalgia and growth all at once 🎉.

I'm also super impressed that Jimmy Eat World funded this album on their own, through touring and day jobs. It just goes to show how dedicated they were back then 💪. And can we talk about the title change? I don't think it would've been the same if they'd just released it under a label - the whole "self-titled" thing adds such depth to the album's meaning, especially considering what was going on at the time 🕊️.

I'm definitely gonna be keeping an eye out for this tour - I've got friends who are huge Jimmy Eat World fans and they're super excited 😁. It's gonna be a blast seeing them live, playing all those iconic tracks and hearing new stuff too 🎶.
