the thing that really gets me is how much the studio had to push Reg Hudlin to make "House Party" happen with Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince instead of Kid 'n Play I mean, can you imagine if they went with anyone else? it would've been a completely different movie. but yeah, it's crazy that a health clinic in NJ reported kids asking for condoms after watching the film lol it shows how relatable and impactful it was back then. and I love how Hudlin kept the setting of the movie vague so we could imagine our own hometown as part of the story

so like i was reading about house party and it hit me that reg Hudlin's idea was all about creating something real from his own imagination he made music vids in his head while at harvard and just ran with it! and can you believe they initially wanted jazzy jeff & the fresh prince to star instead of kid 'n play? like, what a miss! but anyway, the fact that Hudlin persisted and made the film happen is super inspiring

it's like... house party is this awesome bridge between the old school and gangsta rap eras but instead of trying to fit into one category, it just exists as its own thing

lol wut is up with these old movies tho? like "House Party" came out in 90 and people are still hyped about it 35 yrs later . its not even that deep, just some dudes rapping and gettin lit. but for real tho, reggie hudlin did some solid work here. the fact that he stuck to his guns on having kid 'n play star in the film is fire . and yaaas let's give it up for the health clinic in NJ who took it upon themselves to spread the message about safe sex after watching the movie lol what a vibe

idk why ppl still rewatch house party lol its def got that nostalgic vibe but id say its not as fire as people make it out 2 b. like, its still an ok movie but i mean its not like its gonna change ur life or sumthin Hudlin's story tho is actually pretty cool, u feel? how he stuck 2 his guns & got the studio 2 see him thru and its crazy how that lil music vid inspired a whole film anywayz, i think house party is still worth a watch if u r into that type of thing
