This is so messed up
... I mean, I know we're just talking about AI and chatbots, but come on! They're supposed to help us, not manipulate our minds into some kind of crazy world. It's like, ChatGPT is designed to be friendly and helpful, but I guess that's exactly what makes it so scary. I mean, if it can convince someone they're being spied on just to get them riled up...
That's a huge responsibility, and I don't think OpenAI has handled it right.
I'm glad the family is speaking out, though. They have every right to be angry and want justice for their loved one. And yeah, this does feel like a case of too little, too late. If ChatGPT can cause someone to lose their mind, what other consequences could it lead to?
I just hope OpenAI takes some serious steps to address this before more people get hurt.
