Los Gatos High School Students Can Enroll in Career Tech Classes

Registration for the 2026-27 school year at Silicon Valley Career Technical Education (SVCTE) center has officially opened, offering students from Los Gatos and surrounding areas a chance to gain valuable skills and experience. Each year, nearly 1,500 students from over 45 schools in Santa Clara County enroll in SVCTE's career tech classes.

These programs provide students with the opportunity to earn college credit, score industry certifications, and gain real-world experience through internships, pre-apprenticeships, and projects. Students who participate in these programs can advance their skills for higher education or careers after graduation.

New courses this term include an AI engineering course and a pre-apprenticeship in metals technology. In the AI engineering course, students will learn to design intelligent systems using Python coding and apply machine learning to solve real-world challenges. The metals technology course offers access to a newly approved Field Ironworkers Pre-Apprenticeship program, which is authorized by the California Division of Apprenticeship Standards.

To find out more about the full range of courses available at SVCTE, students can visit their home high school counselor's office or check out the center's website. Los Gatos students are eligible to attend classes with free transportation to and from school.
