Lurie Children's to Build New Hospital in Downers Grove Area
Lurie Children's Hospital is set to open a new low-acuity hospital in the southwest suburban area of Downers Grove, aiming to bring its internationally recognized pediatric care closer to families in western suburbs. The 300-bed facility will feature an emergency department, surgery suites, inpatient beds, and specialized services such as oncology, cardiology, gastroenterology, and orthopedics.
According to Tom Shanley, MD, President & CEO of Lurie Children's, the new hospital represents a significant expansion of the organization's growth initiatives. it's like, finally some good news for families living out there who have to travel all the way to Chicago to get their kiddos taken care of. and yeah, 300 beds sounds like a lot - my friend's little bro was at Lurie's for cancer treatment last year and she said it was super nice but kinda far from her house 
anyway can't wait to see this new hospital go up and hear all about the awesome services they'll be offering 
. and 300 beds? that's a lot of space for sick kids (and their parents!) to get the treatment they need ASAP

I think it's awesome that Lurie Children's is building a new hospital in Downers Grove! It makes total sense that they'd want to bring their top-notch care closer to families in the western suburbs who might not have had access to it otherwise

they've been doing some amazing work in Schaumburg with that new outpatient center so fingers crossed this one goes just as smoothly

... but at the same time, 300 beds might be a bit excessive considering all the other hospitals in the area?
