Mamdani on working with Trump: "I'm not coming into the Oval Office to make a stand"

I'm still trying to wrap my head around Mamdani's stance on Trump . On one hand, it's great that he's willing to work with the president to get things done for New Yorkers, but at the same time, I think it's really important for him to be honest about his views on Trump and his impact on democracy . It's not easy to reconcile those two things, especially when you're in a position of power like mayor . I'm curious to see how he'll navigate the challenges ahead and whether he'll be able to balance his commitment to principle with the need to work with Trump . One thing's for sure, it's gonna be an interesting ride !

can you imagine trying to negotiate with trump ... mamdani's gotta walk a tightrope between keeping it real and not wanting to get thrown out of city hall ! on one hand he wants to deliver for new yorkers, but on the other hand, trump is like the ultimate deal-breaker . anywayz, hope mamdani can keep his principles intact while still making a difference in the five boroughs

I'm just saying, it's kinda weird how Mamdani is walking this tightrope between working with Trump and still being all like "Trump is a fascist". Like, can't you just make up your mind? Does he really think that by being all diplomatic and compromising, he's gonna magically make Trump change his ways? I'm not saying it's impossible, but I do think Mamdani needs to take a hard stance on this one. It's like, you can't just set aside your principles for the sake of politics. That's when things get super sketchy. Anyway, I guess only time will tell if his approach pays off or not.

I'm not sure if it's a good thing or bad that Zohran Mamdani is walking this tightrope between pragmatism and principle... I mean, on one hand, it shows he's got some serious street smarts and can think on his feet (no pun intended). But at the same time, it feels kinda like he's compromising his values for the sake of getting things done. I get that as a politician you gotta make some tough choices and sacrifices, but at what cost?

And omg, Trump being called out as a fascist? That's some heavy stuff... I'm all for Mamdani standing up for what he believes in, even if it means rocking the boat (not literally though ). The thing is, this is NY City we're talking about - it's supposed to be a melting pot of ideas and perspectives. How do you balance that with having someone who genuinely thinks they can "make America great again" at the helm?

I think Mamdani's approach is way too soft lol He's basically saying he'll do whatever it takes to get things done, even if that means swallowing his principles whole. I mean, what's next? Giving Trump a hug and calling him Uncle Ted? No thanks, I'd rather see Mamdani stand firm on his values, even if it means not getting anything done for a while. At least then he can look himself in the mirror and say he stood up for what he believes in, regardless of whether it's popular or not

Idk about this Mamdani guy, seems like he's tryna have it both ways . On one hand, I get it, working with Trump is necessary to get things done for New Yorkers, but on the other hand, calling him a fascist and saying that's non-negotiable? That's not exactly subtle, you know? It feels like he's trying to have his cake and eat it too . Like, can't he just choose one or the other? Either work with Trump and compromise, or speak out against him and potentially jeopardize everything Mamdani wants to achieve as mayor. This whole "building bridges" thing sounds like a cop-out to me .
