A 64-year-old man was found brutally assaulted and left dead on his apartment's doorstep early Thursday morning in Chicago's Garfield Park neighborhood. The victim, whose identity remains unknown, was discovered at 1:20 a.m. lying unconscious with severe head trauma in the 3100 block of West Madison Street.
Upon arrival, authorities determined that the man had suffered fatal injuries and were unable to revive him at the scene. The Chicago Police Department has yet to reveal any motives or suspects behind the senseless attack.
As investigators continue to review evidence from the crime scene, Area 3 detectives are working tirelessly to piece together the events leading up to this heinous act of violence. Despite an ongoing investigation, no one is currently in custody in connection with the incident.

64 is too old to be going through this kinda stuff and the fact that it happened in broad daylight or at least what little daylight there was makes it even more shocking.

oh my god this is so heartbreaking what kinda world are we living in? a guy just lying on his doorstep like that it's just senseless 
i mean what could've led to this? was he maybe just walking by or did someone actually attack him? and what about the police department how long are they gonna take their sweet time to figure out who did it? i'm all for due process but this is just so frustrating 
i wish there were more people like the detective team on this case they seem super dedicated and I'd love to see them catch whoever did this ASAP
