Man robs a dozen people and businesses in Brooklyn spree, police say

Brooklyn Business Owners Baffled by 'Spree' of Decades-Long Thief

A string of brazen robberies has plagued Brooklyn businesses over the past two months, with a suspect striking fear into the hearts of shopkeepers across the borough. According to police, the thief, described as approximately 6 feet tall and slim, has targeted nearly a dozen stores and ATMs where women are working, using verbal threats or displaying a knife to intimidate victims.

The most recent incident took place on November 30th at a store in Downtown Brooklyn, where the suspect allegedly threatened a young woman into exchanging currency, forcing her to hand over money from the register. Witnesses described the perpetrator as having worn a black jacket from The North Face, according to surveillance footage released by the NYPD.

Police believe that the thief's modus operandi is specifically aimed at targeting female victims, with several women reporting being physically harmed during these incidents. In one instance, a 29-year-old woman was pushed to the ground, sustaining minor injuries.

The Brooklyn Police Department has reported a notable decline in robberies across the borough this year, with decreases of both 10% and 7% compared to the same period last year in total and specific areas respectively. Despite this decrease, authorities are urging anyone with information regarding these crimes to come forward and report it to Crime Stoppers at (1-800) 577-TIPS (8477) or submit their tips on the website.

The NYPD has released surveillance images of the suspect for public awareness, in a push to bring an end to this "spree" of thefts.

OMG, can't believe what's been happening to those store owners ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿšจ like they're being targeted on purpose? The fact that the thief is specifically looking out for women and using threats to get what he wants is super scary ๐Ÿ’” and I'm so glad the police are trying to catch him ASAP! ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ But y'know, with 12 stores hit already, it's like they're trying to send a message or something ๐Ÿ˜’. I hope Crime Stoppers gets some good leads soon 'cause this is getting ridiculous ๐Ÿ’ธ๐Ÿ‘€

๐Ÿค” I'm getting really frustrated with these robberies. Like, what's the point of targeting women working alone? It's just so unfair. The thief thinks they can get away with threatening people and hurting them? ๐Ÿšซ It's not like it's going to stop here. The police are doing their thing, but I wish more people would come forward with info. We need to build a community where no one feels scared or threatened on the job.

I mean, have you seen those surveillance images of the suspect? He looks like just another faceless thief trying to make a buck off innocent people's hard work. ๐Ÿค‘ It's time for Brooklyn businesses to band together and support each other - we should be helping each other out instead of getting hurt by this guy.

We need to take action, not just sit back and hope the police catch him. I'm all about community-led solutions, you know? We can make a difference if we work together! ๐Ÿ’ช

Ugh, can you believe these guys are still targeting women like that ๐Ÿค•? I mean, I know times have changed and stuff, but come on! It's just not right. The NYPD is doing what they can, releasing those surveillance pics and all that jazz, but it feels like they're not taking this as seriously as they should be. 10% and 7% decrease in robberies? That's cute, but let's get real, we need to stop this guy before he hurts someone seriously ๐Ÿ˜ฌ.

And what's with the "spree" thing? It sounds like a scene from a bad action movie ๐ŸŽฅ. Like, can't they just call it what it is? A string of robberies committed by a person targeting women? Geez.

Anyway, I'm all for community involvement and tips to Crime Stoppers and whatnot. But seriously, we need better resources and support for these shopkeepers who are getting taken advantage of like this ๐Ÿ˜ฉ. It's just not right that they're having to deal with this stuff on top of running their businesses.

Ugh, like, can you believe this guy's been hitting up businesses for DECADES? ๐Ÿคฏ I mean, how hard is it to just pay your taxes and follow the law?! The NYPD should be focusing on catching him ASAP so people can feel safe again. And what's with the modus operandi of targeting women? It's super messed up!

And have you seen the surveillance footage? Like, wearing a North Face jacket from back in the day? ๐Ÿ˜‚ That's just lazy. He thinks he's some kinda master thief or something.

Anywayz, I think it's time for the police to get their act together and catch this guy before someone gets seriously hurt. The Brooklyn Police Department needs to step up their game! ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’ช

this whole situation is really messed up ๐Ÿค• i mean, targeting women at work is just not cool. like, what's the point of even doing something like that? it's not like they're gonna catch anyone or get a prize for being the scariest thief ever. and yeah, it's kinda sad that the police are having to deal with all these cases and can't find this guy. maybe they should just focus on the fact that there's been a decrease in robberies overall? at least that's something to be happy about ๐Ÿ™

I gotta say ๐Ÿค”, I'm not buying that the thief is targeting female victims just because they're women ๐Ÿ˜’. It's like, maybe he's got some personal issues or something? Maybe these robberies aren't even about gender at all ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™€๏ธ. What if this guy's just really good at finding out where the most vulnerable spots are in Brooklyn? Like, what if it's not the woman's fault that she's working alone at night ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ.

And another thing, 10% and 7% decrease in robberies sounds like a pretty big drop to me ๐Ÿ“‰. If I were a shopkeeper, I'd be totally freaking out over all these incidents ๐Ÿคฏ. Are we just gonna chalk this guy's behavior up to bad luck? Or is there something more going on here that authorities aren't telling us about ๐Ÿ‘€?

I don't know... I mean, I think it's really concerning that these robberies have been going on for so long, but like, shouldn't we be more worried about why the police department is reporting a decline in robberies overall? ๐Ÿค” I'm not saying that the current trend is a good thing or anything, but it does seem weird that they're highlighting the decrease while also focusing on these specific incidents. And can we talk about how these surveillance images are just gonna end up being used to shame people for being victims of crime? It's like, they're trying to catch someone, not help women who've already been traumatized. ๐Ÿšจ I guess what I'm saying is... maybe the police should be focusing on more effective ways to prevent robberies in the first place instead of just releasing footage of a guy wearing a North Face jacket? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

I just saw this news and it's soooo sad ๐Ÿค•. These businesses have been robbed like 6 times already and they're all women working alone. Can't imagine how scared and vulnerable they must feel every day. The NYPD is trying to catch this guy, but it's just not fair that these business owners are living in fear. And the worst part is, this thief is targeting people who are just trying to make a living. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ I hope someone comes forward with some info soon so they can put an end to this 'spree' of thefts and bring back some peace of mind for these brave women ๐Ÿ’–

"It takes a great deal of courage to stand up to our fears and take a stand against injustice!" ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ - Rosa Parks

these robberies are just devastating & it's heartbreaking to think about the women who have been physically harmed during these incidents ๐Ÿค•. as a community, we need to come together & support each other in standing against crime & promoting safety & security for all ๐Ÿ’•. the NYPD is doing its best, but we can't do this alone โ€“ every single one of us needs to be vigilant & report any suspicious activity! ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ’ป
