Martino's, London SW1: 'Beautiful bedlam' – restaurant review | Grace Dent on restaurants

Martino's, London's latest addition to Sloane Square's culinary scene, embodies the perfect blend of opulence and conviviality. Upon entering this swanky, Italian-inspired brasserie, one is immediately enveloped by an atmosphere that's equal parts glamorous and welcoming – a true masterclass in creating a sense of 'beautiful bedlam'.

The moment you step into Martino's, you're greeted by the stylishly dressed staff, who exude an air of sophisticated elegance. The interior, replete with white tablecloths, an ox-blood floor, and candle-lit tables, sets the tone for an upscale dining experience. While the restaurant is undeniably chic, it's also surprisingly laid-back, making it an ideal spot for families or groups of friends looking to indulge in a delightful meal.

The menu, boasting an array of creative dishes, is a masterful balancing act between familiar flavors and innovative twists. Standouts include the tagliatelle with soft, braised short rib ragu, which boasts 'pleasing notes of chilli and parmesan', as well as the tortellini in brodo, served with an extra jug of its signature broth. The branzino all'acqua pazza, too, showcases the kitchen's flair, with a generous portion of garlic, pine nut, and chilli-strewn broccolini adding a delightful depth to the dish.

Desserts are equally impressive, with the crespelle al pistachio taking center stage as 'sweet, emerald-coloured stodge'. This indulgent treat is being served by the shedload, suggesting that Martino's has truly tapped into the current trend of all things pistachio. The torta al cioccolato, meanwhile, provides a welcome respite from the sweetness, with its damp almond and cocoa sponge offering a satisfying textural contrast to the rich chocolate mousse.

With its enviable location, stylish décor, and exceptional service, Martino's is well-positioned to become a go-to destination for Londoners seeking an upscale yet approachable dining experience. Whether you're looking to impress a date or simply want to treat yourself to a delicious meal, this beautiful bedlam of a restaurant has it all – and then some.

I'm loving the vibe of Martino's in Sloane Square! 🤩 The way they've blended opulence with conviviality is totally on point. I mean, who wouldn't want to dine amidst that gorgeous ox-blood floor and candle-lit tables? 😍 It's like stepping into a sophisticated dream world.

I'm also impressed by their menu – it's all about balance between classic flavors and innovative twists. That tagliatelle with soft short rib ragu sounds divine! 🤤 And can we talk about those tortellini in brodo? 🤤 Serving the signature broth on the side is pure genius.

And don't even get me started on desserts – that crespelle al pistachio is EVERYTHING! 😋 I'm a total sucker for all things pistachio right now, and this place delivers. The torta al cioccolato sounds like the perfect rich indulgence too.

All in all, Martino's seems like an absolute gem of a restaurant – perfect for dates, night outs with friends, or just a fancy treat whenever you need it! 👍

just went to martino's at sloane square 🍝👌 they got that whole opulence vibe down pat but its still super chill like you can bring the fam or just meet friends for dinner 💕 the pasta is insane tho especially the short rib ragu it hits all the right notes 🤩

I'm not expecting much from the food at Martino's tbh 🤔... I mean, it's an Italian-inspired brasserie in Sloane Square, what's gonna go wrong? 😉 The staff might be stylishly dressed but they're probably just too polished for their own good. And that interior? Just a bunch of clichés strung together - white tablecloths, ox-blood floor, candle-lit tables... it's all so overdone 🙄. I'm not sure if the menu is gonna live up to the hype either, sounds like they're trying too hard with those "creative dishes" and whatnot. And don't even get me started on the desserts - pistachio overload 🤮. Still, I guess it's worth a shot if you want to indulge in some fancy food and drinks in one of London's trendier areas 💸...

omg u gotta try martinos!!! 🤩 i went there with friends last week and the atmosphere was literally amazing - like the staff were so stylishly dressed and the decor was straight outta a fashion mag... but what really impressed me was how chill it was for an italian place lol. they have this tagliatelle dish that's TO DIE FOR - soft short rib ragu and parmesan, yum! 🤤 i also had the tortellini in brodo which was so good i wanted to drink the whole bowl of broth alone... branzino all'acqua pazza is a must-try too, with those pine nuts and chilli-strewn broccolini. desserts r basically just a excuse 2 eat more pistachio ice cream lol. anyway martinos deserves an award for being the most underrated restaurant in london - can't wait 2 go back!!! 😍

🍴👀 Martino's in Sloane Square is giving me all the luxurious feels but also I love how they somehow manage to make it not too stuffy for families or groups of friends. The menu sounds fire, I'm dying to try that tagliatelle with short rib ragu and tortellini in brodo. And who doesn't love a good pistachio dessert? 🤩 It's like they know exactly what Londoners want - upscale but approachable, with some amazing desserts to boot. Martino's is definitely on my radar for a fancy night out or just a sweet treat 🍰👌

I gotta say, I've been reading about Martino's and I'm getting major FOMO 🤯! The description of the interior sounds straight outta Milan - like something from an Italian fashion magazine 💼🍝. But what really caught my eye was that they have a tortellini in brodo on the menu... I mean, who doesn't love a good ol' fashioned pasta dish? And the fact that they're using all those flavors together is genius! 🤓

And have you seen the pics of their desserts? Crespelle al pistachio? That's like my favorite flavor combo ever! 🍪👀 I'm totally going to have to try it out ASAP. But what I love most about this place is that it seems to be all about balance - opulence and welcoming vibes, fancy and laid-back at the same time... it's like they've got it figured out 😂.

I'm loving the new Martino's in Sloane Square! 🤩 They've really hit the nail on the head with their blend of luxury and conviviality - it's like stepping into a swanky Italian villa, but still super chill for families or groups of friends. The staff looks absolutely dapper, and the interior is straight out of a designer's dream (ox-blood floors, candle-lit tables... what more can you ask for?). But what really gets me excited is the food - those tagliatelle with braised short rib ragu? Chilli notes? Yes, please! And don't even get me started on the desserts... crespelle al pistachio is a total game-changer. Martino's has all the makings of a London hotspot, and I'm already planning my next visit 🍴👌

I'm really loving the vibe at Martino's in Sloane Square 🤩! The combination of luxury and warmth is just perfect for a night out with friends or a romantic dinner. I'm impressed by the creative menu, especially that braised short rib ragu - it sounds like a flavor bomb 💥! And can we talk about those desserts? Crespelle al pistachio is on my bucket list now 🍰👀. The atmosphere is indeed beautiful bedlam (love the phrase) - I can already imagine myself sipping a glass of wine by the candle-lit table, enjoying some delicious food with loved ones. Definitely adding this to my London dining list ASAP 👍!
